What a wonderful museum! Room after room of artifacts from daily living from the last 150 years, and some great historical insights into life in Cowley County from the same time period. There are so, so many individual tools and trinkets to see and spark your imagination about how life used to be.Many of the items are not behind glass, so you can get up close (don't touch--you'll be tempted to!) and really SEE them. Subject matter covers schooling, home life, military, medicine, farming, telephony, local industry, religion--and even more! There could be a little more descriptive signage for the items--but I bet this is an all-volunteer museum, and what they've already done is a wonderful start. Admission was free, and it's only open in the afternoons--if I recall correctly. Probably should call first to check hours, if you're making the drive from Wichita.....The Cowley County Historical Society's museum is everything (and more) that a local museum ought to be--definitely put it on your list to spend an hour or two at!
