Companion Animal Hospital staff

I have nothing but praise for Companion Animal Hospital and their extremely nice and patient staff. I live in Los Angeles and my dog tore her CCL (ACL equivalent) on Thursday, April 1. I took her to an ER in LA and was referred to an orthopedic surgeon for surgery. Because of right COVID restrictions in LA, I was told it could be a 4-6 week wait until surgical openings and to keep her on pain medications until someone could get her in (Vetprofen, Gabapentin and Tramadol). Originally from Wichita, I thought I would call around and see what options there were to get her in earlier. On Friday, April 2, I spoke to Dr Kayd Byers and after answering a ton of my questions (mainly TPLO vs lateral suture questions), he said they could get her in as early as the following Monday! I hopped on a plane and went to Wichita. I took her in for a quick consult Monday, and dropped her off Tuesday morning for surgery. The staff was so so patient with me (I was bawling my eyes out), and one of the sweet techs even offered to go in late that night to check on Molly, take her potty, etc. She sent me photos and videos and this very much eased my nerves. When I picked her up Wednesday, they provided me with instructions on how to care for her. I then went back in 6 times over the next 10 days for laser therapy, which greatly sped up the incision's healing time (at least I think it did)! She is six weeks post op and back to using her leg 80%. It healed beautifully and I can tell that this surgery was absolutely necessary to maintain a great quality of life. Thank you to the Companion team for everything you've done for Molly and being so patient with me through all the calls, questions, and trips into the office.

Our 4 lb, 9 year old Maltese quit eating and was not her usual happy self. We took her to Companion Animal Hospital. They were quickly able to run test and diagnose a serious blood disease. They gave her meds and she responded well. However she had lost 2 lbs and just couldn't eat enough to sustain her health. It was devastating. They gave us options on additional treatment. We ultimately knew her little body just couldn't fight it. We were devastated. The doctors and staff were wonderful and so compassionate. They even sent a sympathy card. We will take all future pets to Companion Animal Hospital.

Cannot say enough good things about the doctors and staff here. Our dog was having issues, and the doctors gave us constant updates. The staff was also very flexible and helpful. Again, just cannot say enough good things!

THEY KILLED MY DOG. They gave him SEVEN vaccinations knowing that my chihuahua had heart disease. The vaccinations were not supposed to be given all at once, and yet they gave an 11-year-old chihuahua with heart disease seven vaccinations. My baby boy died 34 hours after going to the vet. I paid nearly $700 to get him taken care of and only got refunded $100 of it. Steve Byers, the doctor of Companion Animal Hospital, does not care about his animals. His son Kayd Byers, who is going to school at Kansas State University for veterinary school, is the man that gave my dog the vaccinations. I even asked Kayd Byers if these shots were going to hurt my dog because of his age and his condition and he told me that my dog would be just fine. They lied to me, they killed my dog, and when confronting Steve Byers about what happened in his Veterinary Clinic, he didn't seem to care at all. He had a nasty attitude with us (my aunt and I) and instead of being professional, he was saying how "we were wrong" even though the proof was right there in front of him. Please, please do not take your pets here. Our pets deserve better service and love. I'm heartbroken. I trusted these people and they killed my best friend.

Took our puppy in for a knee surgery and they did a great job! They were very responsive with questions that we had and never seemed to get frustrated by us checking in with them.

I took my 110 lb. dog for TPLO on his hind leg. The staff was great. Everyone answered all my questions . I was able to leave my dog on Thursday for X-rays and surgery on Friday ,that was helpfull because I live 45 mins. away. I wasn't sure about them because I read the reviews and they were bad but these guys are GREAT. I would bring my dog back anytime.

I've read the previous reviews and have to say my experience doesn't in any way resemble several of them. Our sometimes fear aggressive 140# Great Pyrenees had a torn CCL. Our regular vet recommended KSU but they were scheduling out into February (it was the first of November). The person I talked to at KSU recommended I call Companion Animal Hospital in Maize so I did. They got him scheduled for November 17th, with an appointment to have X-rays on the 16th, and offered to keep him overnight so we didn't have to drive back the next day. I couldn't be happier with the treatment I've been given by the office personnel, as well as Dr. Kayd Byers and the medical staff. Never felt rushed and certainly wasn't overcharged for anything, no surprises at all. We're two weeks out from the surgery and everything seems to be healing well. The first three follow ups are with our regular vet and then we go back for X-rays and, hopefully, a final checkup after eight weeks. So far, so good, and I have no reason to think anything will change. I absolutely recommend them.

Our dog was sick, and we took her to the nearest clinic which happened to be this one. They helped our dog, but we will not be returning. We had an agreed upon payment, and when I came to pay it, they wanted to charge me $300 more than what we were told on the phone. I told them I would pay the amount we'd agreed upon. They then refused to give us our dog. During the day, my wife had to call them three times to ask about updates on our dog, and they never mentioned the up charge or initiated the communication. We will not be returning.

My poodle had a terrible clogged up nose, like she had a bad cold that wouldn't go away. She wasn't eating well and was losing weight. It was a dental infection and they had to remove some teeth and about 3 different antibiotics later, she is almost back to normal. I'm glad she's happy again! Thanks Companion Animal Hospital staff and Dr. Byers.
