Coleman's Flatwork

Shannon has done excellent work for us in the past. We were needing a walkway in front of our house from the sidewalk to the front porch completed. Not only did he provide us with several options, but also recommended changes that didn't increase the price but provided safety enhancements. He also re-did the back steps in the backyard, making them less steep and installed a hand rail so in case of ice or slipper service, there was something to hold on. Each job was done prompt and with the highest quality.

I was looking for concrete work and asked some neighbors for recommendations after I got several I called them and set times to have bids done. One of the companies was Coleman's flatwork. I spoke with the owner Shannon Coleman on May 1st and he said he would come out and bid me on May 2nd. Shannon came out and he was very nice I told him the 3 concrete jobs I wanted done and he bid me he also explained how he pours the concrete which was through a pump as opposed to the other companies which wheel barreled everything through your grass (which concerned me that it would kill the grass with that method like it did my neighbors) because of this reason and the rapport I "thought" I had with Shannon I told him I would like him to do the work. Shannon also mentioned that if I pay cash he gives a 25% discount which definitely sweetened the deal. I was told that because he is very busy he wouldn't be able to come do the work until early July. I really wanted the project done before the summer but I decided to wait so that he could do the work. ( I had another company that was able to do the work on May 15th) I told Shannon that I liked the idea of pouring the concrete and not ruining my grass so I would wait but asked him if he had any cancelations to please put me in the spot. He said ok and said he would send me a contract to sign. On May 27th I sent Shannon a text and told him I still hadn't received a contract and wanted to make sure he didn't forget, he told me he was very busy and he would bring it by next week. On June 20th almost a month later I sent Shannon a message and told him I still hadn't received the contract and as long as I was still on his schedule I would just sign the contract when they started the work, he never replied. On July 6th I sent him another message asking if he had got my other message and wanted to see if he had a start day for the work, he never responded. I tried calling him the next week and he didn't answer so I had my husband call him (figuring maybe he has a issue with females) He answered my husbands call and said he was on his way back from vacation and asked if he could call him back tomorrow which my husband did (from another number so that he would answer) Shannon answered and said he was driving to the office and didn't have his books with him so he told my husband he would call him back in a few minutes when he got to the office. Shannon never called back so on July 23rd I sent him another text and asked point blank if he was going to do the work or not, I explained that I have waited 3 months for his company to do the work and I could of had it done 2.5 months ago if he was never planning on doing the work. Shannon still has never responded to my message so I will be moving on with another company. In my opinion I feel that Shannon is very unprofessional and probably regrets offering me 25% off but instead of being a professional business owner and telling me he cant offer that discount or just tell me he doesn't want to do the job he has strung me along and ignored me for 3 months. I would definitely not recommend him or his company to anyone and I would advise you to use another reputable concrete company!

Shannon Coleman of Coleman's flatwork does not stand behind his work as evidence by his unresponsiveness when requested to go through arbitration as recommended by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I contracted with Mr. Coleman to do concrete work at my home, which encompassed approximately 1525 sq ft. Mr. Coleman did not fulfill his written contract with me and the slant of the sidewalk he poured directs water towards the house, where it pools. I have reached out to Mr. Coleman on numerous occasions to correct the issues he created and he has been unresponsive. I then contacted the BBB for assistance to resolve these issues but was still unable to get a response from Mr. Coleman. I have been attempting to reach out to Mr. Coleman to correct these issues for over a year now. I will keep this post current should Mr. Coleman contact me and correct the outstanding issues.
