This small town museum has a large and wide selection of items. Interests range from local individual collections, local history, area history, and honoring the achievements and service of local residents. We had a great time looking at the displays. I especially liked the POW camp display of German prisoners who were held in Alva during WWII. Oklahoma Land Run history and photos were interesting. There were many historic items from local businesses and medical practices. This is a nice place to spend a few hours to get in touch with the history of NW Oklahoma. Well Done!

I expected a small museum with average exhibits, but what a great surprise. Each small room had a different subject: local history, culture, state events, politics and more.We were able to visit the museum, which is housed in an old hospital, the historic schoolhouse next door, and the annex full of larger equipment.I was impressed with the personal nature of so many objects that had been donated by local residents. Most museums you are a viewer, looking at things from a distance. Here you can step into the room, touch the items and really experience the exhibit. My planned short visit turned into a few hours immersion into the life of courageous settlers and citizens of Woods County. The best part was walking around with my friend, an old-timer from nearby Dacoma. His personal perspective and stories were the icing on the cake!
