Such a cute park! The employees are so nice, and the campsites are very spacious!!! We stayed in Heimerman Point right on the lake and it was gorgeous. We stayed Thursday to Saturday. On Thursday we were 1 of about 5 campers in the entire Heimerman Point Campground. By Friday, it was about half full and quite busy- this definitely seems like a campground enjoyed by many on the weekends. I did not visit the onsite bathrooms to comment on them, but the campsites were very clean, the firepits well taken care of, and I love how there are labels on the campsites with your name showing your reservation. The parking fee payments are very easy to complete. The dump station is a bit archaic compared to other campsites we have been to, but it worked for the what we needed- to dump. We did see park rangers driving around but did not interact with employees in person, only by phone when we made the reservation.

Lovely park 40 minutes west of Wichita. It was way off season and chilly and windy but what a beautiful place! Large sites, some with water and electric, some without. I imagine in season this place is busy with fisherman and families. They don't give any senior discounts unless you are a resident of Kansas. Still lovely.

Looking for a peaceful weekend with family and it was great except for a loud boat that just drove up and down the furthest East cove over and over. Don't know what was so fun but it must of been. Other than that it was a good weekend.

Finding a large body of water in southeast Kansas is quite mind-boggling, but there it is, Cheney Reservoir. The park and dock are well taken care of, and there are a surprising amount of sailboats in the harbor. It's a great to spend a few summer days there. The skill sets of some helmers seem limited as a few sailboats with motors crapped out ... and they couldn't sail them to shore. The murky, muddy waters can get choppy as the high winds Kansas is known for whip up at times. As well, you are at the whim of Mother Nature: a drought has closed the park during the summer times you want to be there.Labor Day is great there. They have a killer fireworks show. Had a great time on the water!

Absolutely love Cheney Lake! Just finished up celebrating my birthday weekend out at sailboat cove with a bunch of friends. Perfect weather. Friendly and approachable staff wherever you go. And if you get a chance stop in and see Lisa at West side bait shop and beer! Nicest people you'll ever meet and supporting small family owned business's is always a plus!

We rented 2 campsites together and they kept giving one of them away to other people. The camp cabin people that watch over us said it was a mistake and being a holiday trying to get anyone to answer the phone was impossible. When I finally did reach the office they said that it was ours and there was nothing they could do about them putting others on it because we should have called sooner. So we paid for July 2nd through the 8th and left on the night of the 6th and didn't get to use the campsite one time even though we paid the $10 a night for it. So beware because someone is double dipping on the payments. Better make sure you get to your site as soon as possible or you might pay for it and not get to use it. The lady on the phone for Cheney lake was kinda of rude and just put me off immediately. Nothing I can do. Yes there is. Refund my money for a site that kept getting rented to others when I already paid for it

We have been going to Cheney Lake since we were babies, now 60 and I have to say...the lake is absolutely beautiful and staff is very nice too but the last time we camped at Heimerman the neighbors next to us had a crawfish fry. Them and their visitors thought it was ok to take over OUR CAMPSITE ALSO. We go to get away from the bs from the city and only ask to be respectful of others areas that THEY PAY FOR. We were at Cheney just for the day this past Saturday to have fun with our grandkids. I was very disappointed at how rude and unempathetic people are when trying to help others. There was a man there with his 2 grandsons from Kanopolis Ks. He accidentally backed too far in the lake and was trying to start his car. We were there loading our jet ski back on our trailer. We counted 6 people putting their watercrafts in the water and not one of them offered to help pull this man out of the water. My husband, being a great man! unloaded our trailer to the side and pulled this man out!! We even offered to tow his boat home for him. The man stated he had been stuck there for quite some time and how much he appreciated our help. Last year we broke down on the lake in our boat and not one person offered to help. With all the boats and people that are always at the lake no one is ever willing to help others and that disgusts me. So if you take your watercraft there and heaven for bid something breaks down, don't expect help from people there cuz you won't get it...of course unless we are there and will be more than happy to do whatever we can.

We stayed two nights at a cabin here prior to the Honey Badger 100-mile ultra road run.The cabins are small, very clean and comfortably hold 4 - one double for 2 people, and a bunk bed for 2 more. Micro and bar-size fridge, tiny sink. Card table and four plastic chairs. Bathroom has toilet and shower and access and shower size are fine for someone who's not super-sized. I think it would be a problem if you were pushing 250 - 300#, however. There is an in-wall AC unit that keeps the cabin FREEZING if that's your preference, even in the middle of July. Don't worry, you won't be hot.Nice screened-in porch plus concrete pad out back, fire pit and grill. Lots of interesting features at the park, most of which we didn't have time to check out -- a couple of different nature trails, for example.Note -- you do need to bring your own pillows, sheets, blankets, towels and toiletries. It's not a hotel or even a motel! Also note the cancellation and refund policy is much more restrictive than standard hotel/motel cancellation policy.
