Chance overhauled my transmission 4 times during 2021. My tranny died AGAIN in May of 2023, just 27 months after the first of the 4 overhauls. I called the shop and explained my situation. They suggested I bring it in again. Since I got stranded with tranny trouble after each of the 4 service visits, I declined their invitation to go 0 for 5. Their response was "OK". Imagine trusting this shop to overhaul your tranny. Your car runs fine and you leave a 5 star review. A few months later, your wife is stopped at a light. The light turns green and the car won't move. An angry man starts yelling at her for snarling rush hour traffic. Or a crazy homeless person approaches her and she can't get away. Your preschool child in the passenger seat senses her fear and starts crying. $300 worth of groceries are melting the back seat. Chance Transmission Shop is "OK" with this. Their words, not mine. I had my car towed to another shop. It didn't disappear into a black hole for 2 weeks (like always happens at Chance). By lunch time on day 1, the owner called me with the diagnosis. By lunch time on day 2 the car was fixed. The fault? Transmissions have electrical connectors so the computer can command the tranny's internal parts. On mine, the connector had been damaged so that moisture and dirt intruded, and corroded the electrical connections. In other words, during the 4 attempts to repair my transmission internals, they damaged an external part, rendering the whole thing inoperable. Not only did they damage this connector, but they didn't even notice it's condition during the reassembly process. This series of rookie mistakes ($1300 worth) shows a level of unprofessionalism and a contempt for the customer that is terrifying. None of this is opinion. None of this is hyperbole. This is what these people are made of. When your car strands you in a blizzard or driving rain storm, don't say you weren't warned.

voted worst out of 4 connecting states, these guys charged me for new parts that they didn't even install and charged me 1877.50 I got 2 other opinions before returning to talk to (Jeff) about the matter, he simply replied that the tranny left his shop with the new parts, i'm a real customer not a family member or friend writing a great review about this company. we as customers need to stand up and not let companies walk over us. I work at an aircraft company here in town and I ask all my fellow employees to tell their family and friends to tell their family and friends to stay clear of this company, maybe we can get them to close the doors for good. have a blessed day

I was having trouble with getting my car into gear, and thought I needed a new clutch. They checked my car out for FREE, and by some sort of magic got it back to working with a little adjustment. I will be back if I have any issues with my transmission.

After paying almost $3000 to the west dodge dialer with no good results but they also told us we need it a new transmission ($7000 use -$1400new) and 2y weight. after they couldn't figure out what was wrong with the truck. we brought our dodge to chance transmission they where not only straight forward on what they think the problem was and what to do first but they also fixed quick. We only paid them less than $400. It's been over a year and my dodge truck still working good. Thank you chance transmission!

Okay, for me this is tough, took my vehicle to chance transmission as I had delt with them for many years in the past. Dave would always go above and beyond. The latest vehicle I took in was one I purchased from my neighbor with a non functioning transmission at normal operating temperature, when cold the vehicle would perform as it should. Given the nature of this model I chose not to even mess with in-depth analysis or search for an easy fix, just took it in and said I believe it needs rebuilt and do all the upgrades necessary to make it better than manufacture. Jay called said your ready to go, couldn't get there that day, so the wife went the next day. The battery was dead Jay jump it and sent her on the way, as soon as she pulled out she thought something's not right, she thought maybe it needs to relearn from the battery being dead, on the way home (30miles) she said that it was shifting excessively. I stopped and picked up a battery just to make sure that it had sufficient voltage and that we wouldn't have a dead battery the next day. I get home changed the battery then it wouldn't even move. I hooked up the scanner it had several transmission codes I cleared them, started it, check fluid level it was good, got back in and then transmission started working. during this process I had called CT spoke to Jay and ask if he wanted me to have it towed back he said no drive it, that concerned me because I did not want to damage anything. I drove it and it got better so now I am thinking its just needs to adapt. It did improve greatly but not to a point of satisfaction, we ended up putting a little over 2,000 miles on it but just wasn't there yet. I took it back to CT they checked it and said well you have a couple of engine codes that's the problem, I picked it up took care of what they thought was the problem (no change) took it back again and left it. Jay called said your ready to go, I picked it up pulled out of the drive felt worse than before but it's Thursday evening and they are closed on Friday so I called them back this time speaking with Jeff, I will tell you now we did not see eye to eye on this, there are some more medicating factors but in the end I took the car back in on the following Monday and on Wednesday Jeff called and said it's ready. I went in and test drove the vehicle with Jeff and I said I think you got it, he was going on vacation and we had decided that I would put some miles on it just to verify. Well we put the miles on it and still putting miles on it, I know this is long but what I want everyone to understand is this was not an easy thing for me to do, we must remember we are all human and we all make mistakes, not that CT made any particular mistakes, it just happens that way sometimes. What brought joy to me through this process was that Jeff proved to be as good as his father, he went above and beyond exhausted all measures and in the end got it right. Even with the difficulties this time around I would chose no other transmission shop than Chance Transmissions, I will continue to recommend them above all other transmission shops. Dave, you & your wife did a great job raising your son, Jeff keep up the great work. I am very thankful to have worked through this we know who is at work. YHWY bless in the name Yeshua

Chance Transmissions is the only Transmission shop I trust with my vehicles. A decade ago I had a Yukon Denali that would not shift out of first gear. I took the Yukon to multiple transmission shops in Wichita and they all told me the transmission needed rebuilt at a cost of $2500 or more! luckily I decided to get one more opinion and brought the Yukon to Chance transmissions. They hooked up their state of the art Scan tool and drove it. Jay told me "there's a possibility it only needs a speed sensor replaced". After replacing the $20 sensor the Yukon drove perfectly! Chance transmissions saved me a fortune. I will always trust Chance with my vehicles. Not sure why there's so many negative reviews here on Yelp.... It's interesting none of these negative reviews include the company name "chance transmissions" or mention any Tech by name.

I should have listened to my family and peers to steer clear of chance. I figured I would give chance a chance. Had them do a full rebuild on my mustang transmission (automatic). Nothing but problems day one. It wouldn't shift right, it was sluggish, and just didn't feel right. Went back multiple times to try and get the transmission worked out. Every time they wouldn't fix the issue. Transmission lasted just out of warranty. Had transmission taken apart by a TRUSTWORTHY, REPUTABLE shop and found the valve body was not put together right, the clutch band for third was cooked, and 4th clutch pack was burnt up as well. $4,200 for a "built" transmission. I wouldn't waste your time or money here. Find someone you can trust.

After drop off the entire experience was bad. Final price ended up being $800 more than originally quoted and my car didn't make it off the lot before things started making noise. When I called them about it the first response was to blame me for the issue! No apology just pointing the finger at me. When I got the car back to them at the end of the next day I was told it would be "first priority" the next morning...at the end of the next day I had to call for an update just to find out they hadn't looked at it yet. Once they did look at it I was told they would have to rebuild the transmission again. On top of bad workmanship previously good parts were damaged during the first rebuild and again I was told they "couldn't have damaged that" despite the fact the transmission will not come out without removing the parts. End result was a one week job took three weeks and I had tow my car home and work on it to make it drive able after paying $2700 to have it "fixed". Long rant to say NEVER trust this company. The previous owners obviously didn't sell their dedication to customer service along with the Chance name.

I was in a terrible fix. Being out of town and I use my car for work, Jay and staff did a great job of getting the part in quickly and even loaned me a shop car without me asking. Jay laid out my options and they were cheaper than a dealership quote I had gotten earlier. Even though I was out a lot of money, I was very pleased.I even had to bring the car back because of leaks and they handled it immediately on a Friday after hours.

I have lived in Wichita for over 60 years. Chance Transmissions has always had a great reputation. I recently had to have my transmission fixed and I got an honest review of the issues and a fair price. I am totally satisfied with their service and highly recommend Chance to anyone needing their transmission worked on. Great team. Honest. Reliable.Thank you Chance.Lee Shaw
