Cancun Mexican Grill

Stopped by here after a long day of travel. Was not expecting anything stellar and that was reflected in the level of service. Staff seem very uninterested in serving people and would rather hang around and chat. The interior is very dated and could use a major upgrade. Also, food on the floor and under the tables. Does this restaurant ever get cleaned? I was going to rate this place a three... till the food situation.Menu is massively extensive and the food is what sets this place apart. Chose fish tacos and a veggie combo. Unlike other Mexican places in the Midwest - this place does not coat everything in "queso". Veggie quesadilla's were awesome, as were the fish tacos. Food is genuinely flavorful and tasty. Will certainly return.

As a trucker it's hard to find Vegan food while on the road. I just found my new spot when passing through Kanas. Vegetable Fajitas was super good, and came with homemade chips/ salsa, Rice / beans.The service was amazing too! The women talking my order was very understanding that I'm Vegan and made sure to have my order right

We are on a road trip to Colorado and stopped at the Days Inn across the street after 15 hours of driving. This place had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. Immediately, you could see the workers were hard working. They were literally running from place to place sometimes. We ordered a pitcher of lime margaritas because the frozen margarita machine was broken. The margaritas were some of the worst I've ever had. The sour mix tasted like it had lime soda in it and I'm questioning if there was even any alcohol. I got the combination number 10 on the menu. The beef enchilada and beef taco were authentic and delicious. I didn't care for the beef burrito. The chips were below average. They seemed partially stale. The salsa was smooth with a great semi spiciness flavor. Overall, the food was good, margaritas horrible, but the flies landing on our table (and food) and dust on the hanging bar glasses were a turn off. I'm still giving them 3 stars because they were very hard working and because my expectations were fairly low to begin with while stopping in Ellis, KS.

If you're driving through western Kansas you're tired of all the fast food and truckstop food out there, I heartily recommend pulling off I-70 at Ellis for Cancun Mexican Grill. My wife had a grilled tilapia platter with shrimp, it was not only beautifully presented but she said delicious. I had a couple of fish tacos and they were also delicious. Interestingly, the fish was grilled, then chopped so it wouldn't slip out of the shell. Add a little pico de gallo and voilà! Also there for refried beans or nicely space and not pasty like a lot are.

I ordered chicken tacos with no cheese because I'm allergic to beef and dairy. Though they left off the cheese they gave me beef. When they finally gave me chicken it was bland and dry. They were supposed to be fried flour shell, the frying left a lot to be desired. On a side note, the bathroom was clean.

Stopped at this exit to get gas. Had planned on eating at Subway that was in the building where the gas was located but then noticed this Mexican restaurant. Yum!!!! I ordered the number 7 combination plate....an Enchilada (I always get a cheese one), a Chile Relleno, Mexican rice and refried beans. Omg!!! Everything was so fresh tasting! The poblano chile was REALLY fresh tasting. Something I have never noticed before at any Mexican restaurant. The rice was very tasty and the refried beans were delicious. I also asked for their house hot sauce. So good! Beforehand they give you the requisite tortilla chips and salsa. They gave the salsa to us in a little pouring container along with two bowls to pour it in. So both me and my husband had our own bowls of salsa. So convenient and something that I've never had done at any other Mexican restaurant. Our waiter (maybe the owner?) was very friendly and accommodating. What a great find. Oh....my husband ordered the beef fajita which he loved as well.

Always stop here when I travel by which is at least four times a year. Plenty of extent KS Mid West style Mexican food.

Have been looking forward to trying this place. Closed "due to short staff." On a Saturday.

Great little hole in the wall place. The food is wonderful and the service was good. We went for Dinner and it didn't disappoint. I had fajitas and they were flavorful but needed some seasoning (salt). The place is a little run down and the upholstery could use a lot of work, but the food was nice and the place was clean.

So here's the deal. This place is in my hometown, so I usually try to eat here when I come back to visit once a month. But you really have to watch because some of the staff there will try to overcharge you for your food. Usually I eat inside, but I just wanted to pick my food up and go home and eat. so I got there and I ordered a burrito and a Jacky burger and the guy tries to charge me almost $27. And I said I think you overcharged me. I said these are the prices and he acted like it was a mistake. Which I get it people make mistakes, but this not the first time it happened every time I go up there I have to make sure depending on whoIs working, they are not overcharging me. There was literally one table of five people and I'm pretty sure they already had their food. He told me it would take about 15 minutes. Now I eat up here all the time and usually when I order it takes less than 10 minutes for the food to come out even if it's been busy, I literally stood there for 30 minutes before my food was ready and then when I drove to my dad's house which is like a minute down the hill and sat down to eat my food. It was cold. I don't know who the owners are, but they better watch because their employees overcharging people because I've heard other people say the same thing. I do like the food, which is why I continue to go there, but I always make sure my ticket is correct.
