"Really enjoyed this tough but fair golf course. The conditions were stellar. Their bent grass greens and fairways are choice. They're as good as I've played this year. The value is off of the charts! I can't recall ever playing this level course for the price. Staff was perfect. The young pro working the desk checked me in and a cart key in my hand in less than 60 seconds. I don't have any negatives aside from the carts not having bag screens. When it rained a little during the round my clubs got soaked. Because I fly with my clubs, I don't travel with the bag cover. Overall I can recommend this course to any golfer seeking lush conditions, a challenging but fair layout, and an insane value. They should charge more. If this course were in FL it would be $85 to play."
"I am a big fan of Oak Country, played it a couple times this season and cannot wait to go back. The staff there has always been great and very welcoming, including Callaway the friendliest marshal I've ever met. Casual and fun. Even when the course was busy we never felt rushed or crowded. Their prices cannot be beat. Great location for anyone in Lawrence or Johnson County or along K-10. There may have been a green or two and a fairway or two with some rough spots (otherwise they'd get 5 stars from me). But it is also clear that the owners are improving the course and take good care of it. And where else do you get to take a shot at an island green in Kansas?!?Great value and a great time whether you are hackers like us or not."
"Here for Sunday brunch. Nice atmosphere and fun staff working here. Food was good and drinks were thirst quenching!Chicken strips were delicious. Biscuits and gravy were also delicious.I would definitely return if invited out again.I wish I lived closer.Respectfully,Bryan Oklahoma City"
"My husband and I been members of Great Life Golf & Fitness for a very long time - over 7 years. We recently contacted the gym to cancel our membership, since we moved to MO and will not have access to their facilities. I have never been more disappointed in a company, than I was in the response we received from Great Life. I want to share their response, because I have recommended Great Life to so many friends and I want anyone who signed up from our referral to have this information. I also want anyone who is considering a Great Life membership to have this information. This is "need to know" information, as the laws in KS do not protect consumers (at all) regarding gym contracts. When you sign a contract with Great Life, the fine print states that you have to cancel by Feb. 28 of each year or your contract renews without any acknowledgment from you. So if you forget to cancel by 2/28 - you are legally obligated to the membership for the next year starting April 1st. It doesn't matter if you are hurt or injured and can't use your membership. It doesn't matter if you move out of state. Also please note: The contract says you have to give written notice which has to be give to the offices in Ozawkie. I would strongly recommend that you send a certified letter, because if they don't acknowledge your request to cancel - it is your word against theirs. We were not aware that we would be moving on 2/28, when the deadline for termination rolled around. In my wildest dreams, I never realized that Great Life would give us any issue with cancelling after we had paid them for 7 years without missing a payment or being a late on a payment. We were valued patrons, so they told us. Apparently they love their membership fees way more than they ever cared about their members. Every other gym we have belonged to has let people out of the contract if they moved to a location where it wouldn't be feasible to access the facilities. It would be completely different if we had the membership for a couple months and just wanted to cancel. We don't live within 100 miles of any Great Life facilities. Another interesting piece of information on Great Life - to raise prices on gym members, Great Life only has to send a postcard via USPS stating the price increase. If you don't receive that postcard and decide to cancel when your rate actually goes up on 4/1 - you are screwed and can't cancel. So if you are signing up for a gym membership, I would strongly encourage you to know that there is literally no laws that look out for gym members and companies like Great Life will absolutely capitalize on this. Great Life will allow us to buy out the remainder of our contract by paying 70% of the remaining payments or we can find someone to take over our membership. Why in the heck would I try to pawn this situation off on my friends? I wouldn't. I would rather pony up and pay the 70% of the contract than screw my friends over. Maybe if Great Life understood that, they would retain more customers the good old fashioned way!"

Played in a golf tourney on 04/30/2015. This course is truly not a standard public track. Even the driving range is good, they could use some fresh range balls, though. Golf Carts were clean, service was great. I will be playing the course again.

This is a nice little local course. It's a good course for beginners or for those, who like myself, might need a little more time or some extra shots. It's got a decent rough, some wooded areas and some water, but no sand. It's kept in good condition too. The fairways and greens play well, even in the summer, when the local weather can be a little rough. The green fees are reasonable. At the time of this posting, nine holes on a Friday afternoon without a cart was $13.

It's not so much that I have to pay an additional $5 on top of my family membership so that my live-in family member who has been on my plan since I joined 8 years ago can walk around your track for 30 minutes. It's not even that you won't allow me to change to a single plan after you removed her from my family plan. I understand contracts. What makes me mad is that when I signed that contract there was a private hot tub for women as well as a steam sauna and a dry sauna. NONE of which is working or as far as I can tell will be working anytime in the near future. Not so #greatlifegolf. The first time I found the hot tub to be non functioning I asked the man behind the desk WHEN it would be repaired he snapped, "Never" and he told me I could go across town to another one of their other facilities that had one..... but it was closing in 15 minutes..... so there was that.

GREAT Life: Sweating with the oldies!Of course, I am not talking about music. You too can sign a year long contract to work out like it's 1992, because that's when almost all their equipment was manufactured. Keep in mind, you do not get to enjoy this equipment at its prime. No siree! You get equipment that is worn out, with fraying cables, cracking welds, rusting cardio machines, bent barbells and dangerously out of tolerance equipment. There's nothing that entertains me more than getting an opportunity to purchase equipment and bring it into the gym I am paying a membership because they WON'T upgrade their stuff! Do you want to learn a new trade? Doesn't matter. You will at GREAT life. You will learn how to maintain and fix gym equipment DAILY. But that's not all!Do you enjoy doing cardio during a bulking work out routine? Great! Because we at GREAT life have decided to put half of our dumbbells upstairs, and half of it down because the floor is too weak to handle the weight of a GYM. Of course we could reinforce the floor or renovate the basement so there is enough room downstairs to accommodate the free weights, but that would cost money! We clearly are not going to do THAT! When we do "fix" something it will be out of service for over a month, because time off from working a particular body part allows you to achieve higher gains! So, if you want a gym like this come see us at GREAT life!

"I played this course on a Saturday, trying to get 18 in before a family function. I started at 6:45 or so and by the time I got to the 8th hole the club pro had come out and found me to let me know they had mistakenly let me out before an outing starting at 8 and I would run into problems. He offered me several options even though it was no issue to me if I didn't finish. Needless to say I did rush through and finish my round right as their outing was starting and he still offered to discount my round and gave me a drink and some other minor memorable swag. That's true professional behavior there and should be rewarded with continued support of this course. Course was in great shape, hardly any brown grass and greens in amazing shape. Hard to accomplish in this climate I would imagine."
