The owner was friendly and helpful. I haven't posted in Yelp in 8 years but staying at the Tucked Inn motivated me to refresh my account so I could review it. Kinsley is a quirky and charming spot. though like many small towns has seen better days. But the architecture is interesting and there's a colorful carnival history to the place, which happens to be at the exact midpoint between NYC and San Francisco,"

The owners and their pets are so welcoming and warm. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood taking in the rich history in the other homes and buildings. The downtown area is walkable, really looking forward to the new brewery, but even without it there are many options for food, drink and fun. We went in the winter, so some of the town's amazing activities were down (like the water park). We're already looking to book our next trip in the summer. Thank you to the Sopers for their hospitality and for opening the doors to this historic home!"

This is a remodel we learned of this year - it is fabulous! Exceptional use of space , table & chairs, reclining chairs, spoiling bath, keurig, microwave, refrigerator, mugs, wine glasses etc. lots of small touches with battery pillar candles, plenty of outlets. Even watched the Chiefs game Sunday night and then visited the hot tub! We had the pool & hot tub to ourselves ... very romantic. So glad I added the romance package ... we had to plan nothing exactly what we needed!!!! You can tell we LOVED it. Small touches everywhere... even fresh cookies for our drive home."

Carmen A. "We stayed here for our honeymoon in 2013. Why it took me so long to write this review I'm not sure. But here it is:1. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived. In fact, the owner made us wait while he booked a reservation on the phone for six months down the road. 2. While showing is the cluttered kitchen area, he dropped a stack of coffee cups on the floor, picked them up, and invoked the "5 second rule". We decided then not to drink coffee. 3. He could not find the keys for the room we'd reserved...or the other room he wanted to give us since we were on our honeymoon. We ended up in a third room. 4. There was ONE towel in the bathroom. Enough said. 5. In the morning, he offered us a bowl of fruit that sat out on the counter, uncovered, all night. 6. The final straw - we were ready to check out when the owner said he needed to use the restroom. The bathroom was less than 5 feet away, so he went in, DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR, and proceeded to take a leak. At that point, I left and let my husband finish paying the bill. 7. The final, final straw - when we got to our honeymoon destination, my husband pulled out the small lotion bottle he'd gotten at the inn. It was empty!!! Who puts a used, empty lotion bottle out for guests???Bottom line: Unless the inn has changed ownership since March 2013, don't do it!!!"

Chris S. "First impressions are everything. The large house with three guest rooms, two smaller queen size en suite ($129) and a much larger king size with a separate vestibule and sofa ($149), is well kept inside and out. A lovely 1920's stone and wood structure, the Andersons have unfortunately modernized the house extensively inside, losing most of the early 20th Century charm expected of a B&B. The furnishings are also predominantly modern and tastefully done, but they seem out of place in a B&B.Dawn, the lady of the house, seemed very nice, but had to leave on errands when we arrived, so her husband Phil briefed us on the details of the house and showed us to our room, the smallest of the three rooms, a.k.a. the "Peters" room. He briefly showed us the other two rooms only because the doors happened to be open and I had enquired about seeing them, but that was the end of it.We were told that there would be only two other guests arriving that night, staying in the other small (Parsons) room and leaving the larger Van Maanen Suite free. As we were unpacking, the other couple arrived and I overheard the conversation as they were just outside our door in the hallway. Dawn had returned by then and was showing them to their room, stating "I had you in the Parsons Room, but I'd like to upgrade you to the Van Maanen Suite at no extra charge if that's OK with you". Strange, I thought, because we had arrived much earlier and it was obvious that these were, like us, not return guests, but we were made no such offer to stay in the empty room even though I had told them it was my wife's birthday. What are we, chopped liver? When I came down to get our luggage from the car, Phil was cooking dinner. I asked him about the obvious Dutch influence in the house's decor and he referenced Dawn's Dutch heritage, telling me about their trips to the Netherlands, but cutting me off and not wanting to hear anything about my visits there. He then told me, "We're having family over for dinner 'in the dining room' (which takes up most of the main living area) at 6:30", sounding like a rather big hint that we were probably not welcome in the main area of the house even though we were paying $130 per night to stay in their B&B. I told him, "Don't worry Phil, we will make ourselves scarce", to which there was no reply. When we came back from dinner around 7:30pm, the house was full of family and children, making it uncomfortable and impossible to enjoy the main area of the house, including the large adjacent enclosed porch, so we sequestered ourselves to our room. Even though I do not agree with the modernization of a historic home, the house is nice and the rooms comfortable and clean. There was a TV with cable in the room, although FS1 and the NLDS was not available, and the Wi-Fi was fast and dependable. Although we had restricted access to the main living area, there were several books available to read as well as a large screened-in porch which we were unfortunately not able to enjoy.I was hoping to get some ice water before bed, but the open kitchen is "off limits", clearly listed as "PRIVATE", so I had to make do with tap water during the night. The bed was comfortable although rather small for a "queen", but we had no way to control the temperature in the room and it was very hot, uncomfortable for sleeping as I like sub-70 degree temperatures to sleep and it was closer to 75 degrees in the room overnight. I also prefer darkness in the morning, but the curtains were thin with no blinds, allowing the morning sun to wake me up at 7:30 whether I liked it or not.We were asked to designate the exact time we wanted breakfast the night before and it was ready at 8:30am at the appointed time when we went downstairs in the morning. The "upgraded" couple from Texas were at the table when we arrived as were coffee and juices. Breakfast consisted of what was described as an "apple pancake" made with eggs from the chicken coop out back, as well as tomato, grapes, melon slices, and three small kielbasa. The egg was somewhat dominant in the pancake and not to my taste, but I finished it nonetheless as not to insult the host. The coffee, juice, and kielbasa were all good.In all, the house was nice, as was Dawn, and centrally located. I can't say "splurged" because it cost little more than an average hotel room, and the cooked-to-order homemade breakfast was much better than you'd find in a hotel.Sherri and Jeff are incredibly gracious and intuitive hosts: there when you need them, but otherwise, they let you be. The porch alone of this rambling abode is larger than some San Francisco apartments, and every window of my room looked out upon lush greenery. Sandy B. "I came to visit family. The only hotels they have in town are outdated and drive up to your room types. I found this B&B amongst the hotel list and I'm grateful I did. It's an adorable Colonial style house that was built in 1898. It was Designed by George Washburn. You'll find a statue of him downtown. The original hardwood floors are still in immaculate shape and not a speck of dust seen. There are lots of stained glass and beveled windows. They have 3 rooms upstairs on the second floor for rent. One has a private bath and the other two share a bath. It has a spacious shower with a raindrop faucet and optional hand held. They have goat milk shampoo, soap, and lotion. It was a nice touch. The family lives on the third floor. The sponsors served breakfast at 9 am with scrambled eggs, banana nut muffin, bacon, fruit, option of yogurt, and coffee, water, and the option of juice. More than enough. FYI. There is a house with a very similar appearance to the pictures one block before you get here, also on the corner. The B&B has a sign on the front porch."

As we were coming down Sylvan St. from 6th Ave. the house (sporting a beautiful blue exterior) came into view on the right and conjured up feelings of coming home.Backing up into the off street driveway to unload through a fenced in back yard we noticed several places set up to gather and enjoy the outdoors including a covered porch. It was also decorated with many nick naks giving it a personal touch. Walking into the kitchen, we found it to be delightful. A lot of space with ample cabinets and drawers chock full of a chefs dream of every tool and amenity (including a very well stocked spice rack) one needs to cook their family a wonderful Thanks giving dinner. The cabinets were well stocked with snacks and all of the breakfast essentials. The downstairs includes 3 entrance ways, (front, back and side). The swing on the front porch is great to relax in. A foyer, living room, formal dining room seating 6, a complete laundry room with a restroom shower, washer/dryer. Upstairs has 3 bedrooms with very comfortable beds, a complete washroom featuring a spacious soaking tub. There is an abundance of lighting fixtures throughout the house for those of us who are not fans of dimly lit areas. There are hundreds of little every day nick naks and decor items that make a house feel like a home sprinkled throughout the house. You will want for absolutely nothing. Everything has been thought of and provided for you right down to the smallest of things like an array of bubble bath items for you to enjoy! Forgot to pack something? Don't worry about it. They turned their barn into the Bar/n which is a super cool hangout space with TVs, dartboard, and an amazing bar. You can bring your own alcohol and I could see this being an amazing place to bring a group of friends. While we were in the Bar/n chickens and kittens were roaming around. It was so charming. There is an option to add dinner to your stay for $25 a person. You must add this to your reservation! We were able to enjoy and amazing surf and turf dinner with the owners with amazing homemade bread, celery salad from their garden, and amazing fruit crisp. Drom Sott (which means "sweet dreams" in Swedish) feels like you're staying in someone's cozy home. The rooms are impeccable and everything is arranged just so. The bed is super comfortable. The lobby has large couches and chairs tucked into nooks that you can relax in. Options at breakfast included crepes with lingonberry jam, hardboiled eggs, herring, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and lots more. My favorite part of Drom Sott: Adult guests are welcome to visit the wine bar downstairs during their stay for a glass of complementary wine. Or two! There are also some little nibbly things (pretzels and Chex mix-ish snacks) to eat as you drink your wine. I drank my wine and then left the hotel to explore the cute Swedish neighborhood. But after touring the grounds and peeking into the barns (which serve as a venue for weddings, parties, get-togethers, etc.), I kind of wish I would have had my wedding here! It's a beautiful space, especially around twilight when the twinkle lights come on and everything is sparkly and magical-looking. The rooms at Timber Creek are the most unique I've ever seen. The main B&B house has three or four rooms, and each one is decorated with a different theme. My room (The Barnyard) is decorated with barn animals, and had an upstairs area. Upstairs was where you could find two twin beds, a reading nook, a baby crib, and a little lantern. This room would be so fun for a family to stay in, and it's very comfy.I got to peek at the other rooms, and each one is better than the last. One of the rooms (The Railroad) has trains in it! And if you want a really unique stay, ask for the Barn Owl Treehouse, which is literally a treehouse that you can stay in. Because this is a bed and breakfast, we got breakfast in the morning. It was delicious and homemade! They made sure to ask if there were any food allergies the night before, then they created a wonderful breakfast spread in the morning, which included apple tartlets, omelets, sausage patties, and lots of freshly brewed coffee. There was also cold cereal and a hot chocolate bar, too.Timber Creek is a big property, and you're welcome to explore. Shane W. "Let me preface this by saying that this was my very first bed and breakfast experience. I've always been reluctant to stay at a bed and breakfast because, frankly, I go on vacation to get away from people in general, not hang out in a house, share a bathroom, and a dining room table with them. In this case though, we were more interested in the idea of staying somewhere haunted. Well, if there is such a thing, this probably isn't haunted. Formally creepy? Absolutely! But the former owners restored the building, added the necessary amenities for a bed and breakfast and eventually sold it to it's current owners who operate it as Prosperity School Bed and Breakfast. We got there after a long, hot road trip and were really grateful the building was comfortable on such an oppressively hot day. We got a brief tour, told about breakfast and were shown to our rooms. The room was formally the school auditorium (sounds enormous but it was merely really large - remember, this is an 1800s school.) and was well appointed. To make a long story short, the owners were kind and thoughtful. Really, B&Bs probably just aren't my thing. It's a little too much like staying at someone's house for my tastes."
