"Lots of good barbecue in Wichita! Bite Me BBQ is one of my favorites. I like the atmosphere and I love the menu. If you like barbecue, this is definitely one to check out."
"Found this place on our road trip and it was delicious! It was so cute inside and the food was good! Definitely recommend if you are passing through!"

"Restaurant/pub located in downtown Wichita.A few locals recommended this spot so we checked it out for Sunday brunch. Bottomless mimosas are apparently against the law in Wichita but they do offer $5 mimosas. There is also a great selection of bourbons and beers. We started with the goat cheese peppers which were amazing. They guys had the wings which they said were excellent with some spice. For my meal I had the pork Mac and cheese. Two people could definitely split this. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly."
"Fantastic food. It was out WAY faster than we expected too. I had the prime rib, waffle fries and Mac n cheese. Price is what you expect for a bbq place. I can't wait to bring some more friends here."
"WOW! The barbecue here is SPOT ON. I have tried their combo platter with cheddar sausage, brisket, and ribs. The meat is flavorful, juicy, and smoky. The only small flaw would be that out of the two times I've ordered here, my second order's ribs were on the dryer side. Nonetheless, the delicious sides (ESPECIALLY THE CREAMED CORN) totally made up for it. Their beans and green beans are also very tasty. You cannot beat the prices either, for such quality barbecue I was surprised at how reasonable their prices are here! The atmosphere of the restaurant is friendly, family-oriented, and fast/quality service. This is my new favorite and I will be returning again very soon!"
"Tried the ribs and hot links. The ribs are fantastic. The hot link was cut in little slices. I prefer to cut them my way. They weren't very flavorful."
"I was visiting Emporia and of course I had to scout out the good local eateries. This place had good reviews and Yelp but I found it to be pretty average bbq. I'm from NC so I've had my share of good bbq but I suppose for a small town, it's not a great comparison. Reasonable prices and worth a shot if you're in town visiting but did not leave me with a wow factor"
"I am picky with my BBQ, and this place was a knockout in all aspects! I tried the pulled pork, put that in my macaroni and cheese! The chicken was moist and tender! (The second time I went it was not as amazing as the first time, still good but not as amazing) Ask for the mango habanero sauce for the chicken! So good! The brisket was out of this world! Packed with great flavor! I usually eat it with pickles and jalapeños, but not this one! I wanted all the smoky flavore. The French fries should be made this way at all restaurants! So good, especially dipped in their BBQ sauce! Good portion sizes, good value, great food!"
"SO, SO good! The staff is so kind and attentive to special dietary needs. The food is fresh! This is a "MUST STOP!""
"Came in for some Saturday lunch and was greeted by Boone the owner. We sat down and ordered the two meat plate with ribs and brisket. It comes w lots of sides choices so we had the coleslaw and bbq beans. We also had a taste of the corn pudding. One word for all....? DELICIOUS!!! The meat was perfectly seasoned and just right portions. The cole slaw was freshly cut and perfectly dressed. The bbq beans seasoned just right not too spicy or mild. Finally the corn pudding was like a veggie dessert. Sweet and tasty. Fantastic service conversation and food. What more can you ask for ??? We will be back on our next trip through town!!!!"
"I stopped by for a quick drive-through snack, Memphis Nachos with BBQ Chicken. I've never had them before and they were ok. I am a bit picky and I thought it'd be a safe bet. Meat was ok, but I found their baked beans to be very mediocre. I'd recommend that Cox Bros offer their pineapple coleslaw as a substitute for the beans. It would lighten the dish and make it much more enjoyable for the summer months when beans, meat, and cheese is a just heavy and hot. I'd probably also get it with no cheese. Idk if they use mozzarella or if it was a jack cheddar mix, but the first few bites gave me a pizza vibe, which is not great when you're expecting barbecue. In any case, I like this place overall, but this experience in particular was just ok, but at least I'm not starving anymore!"

Went here our first day in Kansas. The food was super good. The turkey and the pulled pork were my favorite. The sauce bar with the pickles and other pickled veggies added to the meal. And definitely order the sweet tea!

We absolutely loved this place! We came here on a Monday afternoon for a late lunch before we had to go to the airport. We would have loved to get some bourbon but thought that might not be wise before our flight. So we got a beer...my husband got an IPA and I got a stout called Buffalo Sweat (that made me literally LOL).Our waitress was Julia and she was just lovely! She recommended the green beans and the Wilbur. We got both, along with the loaded sweet potato tots. The Wilbur was ok, the tots were great, but the green beans were the best thing we had on our week long vacation! My local bar at home has them and I used to love them but now I don't know if I can ever eat them again because I'll be comparing them to the Monarch! And Julia also made us a list of her favorite shops and other places to go for us to visit on next trip! Top notch! We were very happy with the ambiance, the service, and the food. The value was excellent. We look forward to returning to this establishment when we come back to Wichita.

When pigs fly has got the jive and sauce. Great slice brisket and hot links. There several mediocre BBQ spots in proximity of when pigs fly but please take my advice and get the real stuff. You won't regret it. Fancy signs and radio jingles don't make award winning smoked meats on the same level as when pigs fly bbq

When they say 'fall of the bone tender', their ribs should be the photo next to it. I, truly, do not think I have ever had such tender ribs in my life. It was delicious and then some.I think our order was taken by the owner and she was so nice. I felt at home. In fact, I'd kind of like to make this my home! Coming from out of state and stopping by, by word of mouth, this is the BarBQ stop to make. It will be a very exciting time to stop by and eat here again.

The brisket I had was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Jan had the potato skins appetizer - which she went on and on about. She had the chocolate cheesecake for dessert, I had a few bites. So good. Go there if you're in Emporia, KS, you won't be disappointed!!!!!!

No sauce needed!!!3 - Meat Dinner: Pulled Port, Smoky Joe, and Sliced Brisket Breaded OkraFrench FriesMac & CheeseThis is my second time eating here and it's just as good as before.I wanted to try everything hence my order. This is not a romantic dinner spot, so don't complain about the setup. It's has a cafeteria feel. Walk-in order and pick up your meal. The seating area is separated from the counter. There is no check-in from staff if you need something you have to go get it yourself. It's clean and the food is pretty good. I love the meats the most.- flavourful, smoked and juicy. When you can eat meat without drowning it in sauce you know it's good.Mac and cheese would be better with more cheese. Try the fried okra and french fries, you won't regret it.

"Update January 20,2024.Called ahead to make sure the Tavern was open tonight (bad weather this week-super cold) and they were thank goodness. We needed a rib fix! We were asked to reserve/preorder the # of ribs we wanted to pick up go figure cause when we got there the place was packed! Small town America Williamsburg Kansas was hoppin'! ! Glad we ordered ahead. Got home with our food and it was fantastic! Don't pay attention to the negative reviews. If you're not happy, just give them a chance to fix things before writing something up. They have been in business a long time for a reason......This is as Americana as you can get folks ! Pull off of I-35 when you are out their way and get ya some! While you're at it, you need a T Shirt too....."
"I found myself in the not so little northern Oklahoma town of Enid for work and wandered into this joint for dinner. I am so glad I did... to the point that I ended up not being upset about being out of town and by myself on my birthday. Admittedly, I am particular about my bbq, especially ribs. I genuinely expected very little from this joint in regards to quality of the bbq but I was absolutely blown away by Swadley's... in a good way.The setting is very pleasant and the cleanliness is above most. The service is excellent (thank you Ariana!) and my glass was never below 1/2 full. The menu choices are vast but not overwhelming. The prices are surprisingly lower than most bbq joints in TX. The fresh cut fries and the sweet beans are enjoyable. They offer 4 bbq sauces so you can customize your flavor... but you may not even mess the sauce because the meat is excellent. The brisket is tender, has a nice smoke ring and a flavorful bark. The sausage isn't greasy or spicy so it is enjoyable too. The chicken is seasoned and cooked perfectly. The ribs have the right amount of pull from the bone, bark, tenderness, and flavor. Very impressive Swadley's! Very impressive!"
"Adding an update as this spot has come in clutch a few years in a row now.Friend and I have a tradition to get together for skeet shooting nearby each November, often needing a spot with a dog friendly patio afterword. This could not have fit the bill any better than it did.For starters, the perfect fall weather, paired with the ample picnic benches, games, and dog-friendly nature of this spot should be enough to catch your attention. The friendly server also happened to have a similar dog to mine, and her energy added to the great vibes overall. The food was good and hit the spot. First time in I had a chicken sandwich and while it was a bit generic, or maybe a better term is replicable, it still landed for me. This time I got more of a BBQ platter with ribs, pulled pork, fries and Texas toast. It all was good, particularly the BBQ sauce. The ribs feel right off the bone and the pulled pork had a nice flavor.Good option if you're outside of Lawrence in the Eudora area."
"Easily my favorite bbq joint in Ponca City. The ribs are always fall off the bone delicious, they are fast, efficient, and the staff has always been friendly. I love the atmosphere of the inside dining. I am obsessed with their bbq baked potato."
"You can get five stars once you bring back some older menus items, the spiral potatoes with chilli etc. was a dish everyone knew about. The chicken fried steak meal was a staple and the Cheva was a classic.Bring the OG sh$t back and your customers will be very happy again. Please bring these items back."
"Sesame was a new place near that WSU campus I decided to try. The lamb kabob I tried showcased tender, perfectly grilled meat complemented by a flavorful array of sides--tabbouleh salad, hummus, pita, and rice pilaf. Each was authentic and flavorful! The restaurant's ambiance is inviting, with a contemporary setting. The service is prompt and positive. I highly recommend Sesame and will be my choice during future Wichita trips"
"Before getting started at the Museum, I had lunch today at Black Dog. A plate of chopped brisket was just what I wanted, as you can see from the picture and served with cole slaw. Moist but needing a little bit of sauce. Cole slaw was crispy and had a nice vinegar bite to it.They have a soda fountain and urns of tea. There is a free wifi signal here though it's not theirs.[Review 11419 overall, 1196 of 2019.]"
"Plank's BBQ is a homey, locally owned restaurant, the type of place where you're liable to see multiple tables of customers waving hello to each other across the dining room. The food is very reasonably priced with your typical BBQ fare as well as a few other choices like burgers and chicken fried steak sandwiches. As of November 2013 they offered an all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet on Tuesday nights for $8.99. (Awesome, right?) Their ribs are first class, very meaty and fall-off-the-bone tender that rival some of the Rib giants in KC. I didn't have any of their other meats, so I can't speak about them - yet.Beans are of the baked variety, a little runny, a little sweet with some onions, and they include some brisket in the beans. Two flavors of sauce, one thin and slightly spicy (I loved it, but it's probably a little on the hot side for your average customer) and another somewhat thicker sauce with a sort of smokey / molasses type vibe that had very good flavor. The dining room and restrooms are very simple but also very clean. While the prices are quite reasonable, they do charge $1 if you ask for an extra plate to share. If I rated the restaurant on the ribs alone, I would give 4 or possibly 5 stars. However, I want to reserve judgment until I've tried more of their menu items and meat choices. I'm giving 3 stars for now, but I reserve the right to possibly improve this rating at a future date."
"We stopped in this place after church for a quick lunch. The service and the burgers were great. Will definitely go again when in the area visiting family."
"Really? Nobody has reviewed this place before me? Great! I liked the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. I love that we had a coupon to use. As soon as I saw the sampler platter, I was set. I could try a little of everything, and I could even take some home to share with mom and dad. The waitress over charged us, because our appetizer was supposed to be free. Once we worked it out, we were happy. Can't wait to go again!"
"I saw this place on Yelp and had to try it- our first BBQ stop in Kansas. I agree with the 5* review. I was starving after flying and driving all day. I asked the girl behind the counter for advice and she didn't steer me wrong. Smoked chicken sandwich, 'bama style with a slightly tangy cole slaw and delicious bbq sauce. I chose collard greens and tomato/cucumber salad for my sides. Greens were a bit spicy with a little hot sausage cooked in them. SO good! The chicken was delicious- all breast meat and lots of it! Hubby had smoked turkey sandwich with beans and cornbread. Definite delicious smoky flavor. Plenty of meat. The beans had jalapeños and were not too sweet, cornbread was moist and seemed to have been put under a broiler for a buttery toasted top crust. Sweet tea and a plain tea rounded out the meal. This place is a little tricky to find right now, as the other side is a Dara's corner market that is undergoing parking lot construction. Drive around to the street side to park. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and a decent stocked bar. A couple tvs, so I assume a great hangout on game days!"
"I'm always disappointed when I eat here. The meats are sometimes served cold. Yuck! However, That being said, chances are you will have a normal, forgettable meal here without being disgusted."
"If you're looking for the way out west, dining under the stars experience, get out to the Prairie Rose and get to grubbing on authentic BBQ, potato salad, rolls, cookies, good times, singing and a chance to pet some tamed Longhorn cattle!"
"I thought eating at Blue Smoke was such a fun experience. The restaurant doesn't have appetizers. Instead, they give you fresh pork rinds to sample their four BBQ sauces. I loved the KC BBQ, he loved the tangy Memphis, and we liked the other two just fine. We tried all the meats between the two of us. Loved the hot links, shredded pork, added a rib, brisket was wonderful. Omg the apple slaw was delicious. Smoked mac n cheese was awesome. I just have wonderful things to say. Took a couple bottles of sauce home. Will go again."
"Old, outdated. Nice people, all locals. They don't have a problem letting you know it. I wouldn't bring my wife anywhere close to this place. I need a shower. The men's room sums up everything and more of what I've said."
"As far as small town eats go....this is pretty good! Everything is cooked to order and they have a surprisingly diverse menu. If you're looking to eat healthy this is not your place though. The jalapeño burger I had was legit. Tasted like something I'd make at home. Fries weren't bad, nothing to write home about, but I did notice they had curly fries after the fact. Maybe I'll try round two and amend this review if necessary!"
"I think this place was great! I had the chipped beef brisket and turkey. Nothing was dry, unlike what other reviewers said. The sauce was good, as were the sides. Loved the cheesy potatoes and the baked beer bacon beans."
