Lisa R. "I was so excited that Eric R. found The Vault when researching Emporia for us to visit! We came on a day trip and this is the first time I have traversed Kansas without a cooler and ice packs when I actually needed it! The owner Becky was so knowledgeable about all things cheese, meat, and gourmet treats (and moved to Emporia from New Jersey)! We got to sample a lot of different things, left to explore, and returned before closing to buy our goods. She provided us a cooler and we bought a small bag of ice down the street. There are pestos, tapenades, jarred beets, and other interesting items on the shelves. There is a frozen case with locally raised meat. Yet the star of the show is the case in the center, with cheeses and charcuterie galore! The menu organizes the cheeses by blue, single serving cheeses, soft, semi-soft, firm, and hard. There is a large list of salamis and then whole muscle meats. There were two items I was interested in that were sold out, the duck prosciutto and the queijo toledo. I will have to make my way back!I ended up buying from the single serving cheese a truffle chevre (which I had tonight with fennel, it was amazing), petit basque (my friend Melinda C. asked for a sample and we were all blown away by it), Saxonshires (five cheddars layered in colorful stripes: Double Gloucester, Chesire, Caerphilly, Leicester, and cheddar), and bresaola (salted, air-dried Italian beef that I usually have to get at Dean and Deluca in KC).Melinda C. bought the bay blue and chevrelait (smoked goat) besides a few of the same ones I got. We both are so excited that tomorrow we are having a bread-cheese-cured beef smorgasbord for dinner! Bring your cooler bag and ice packs to Emporia because this place is a must-stop (and has really cute decor too)!"

Perfectly seasoned. Oh, it was just so, so yummy.Complimentary water station.Last one of the day had just come out of the oven with my name on it. Split it with my daughter who does not generally enjoy eggs, and even her eyes rolled to the back of her head in yummy delight.Hit that skipped breakfast and can't quite wait for lunch to have lunch spot.Hot Tip: spotless bathroom"

Sadly, bread and snack are now .79 and .69 for bread and snacks. Still worth it! The cashier guys are generally friendly. We just started sliding everything into the handy basket. Buy a bag for $1.19 and proudly display their product name!We will be back again and again!"

Chris R. "It's funny that I came here to say these are the best donuts in the world and find the only other review makes the same claim. But it's true, as far as I can tell. I grew up in Wellington eating Daylight Donuts all throughout my time there. Any time I tried donuts somewhere else, I was disappointed. Then I moved to Lawrence then to San Francisco then traveled around the world, including New York. I continued to try donuts everywhere I went. Krispy Kreme, Bob's Donut & Pastry Shop, Doughnut Plant. I tried all the highest rated donut shops everywhere I went. Any time I visited a new city, I made a point of finding their highest rated donut shop. And not once did any donut I ate remotely compare to the memories I had of the ones I ate right in my home town of Wellington, Kansas at Daylight Donuts as a kid.Last week, I came back to Daylight Donuts again for the first time in 20 years. I wanted to put it to the test: was this just nostalgia or were these donuts actually as good as I always thought they were? I got a pac-man, a chocolate long john, a glazed, and a half pint of their signature chocolate milk. And, I am pleased to report, they were every bit as amazing as I remembered."

I was tempted by the chicken salad croissant but decided I had better finish my leftover dinner from last night. I had a lemon lavender scone. Deliciousness! I still had coffee from breakfast and almost gave into a smoothie, but I resisted. If you are going on a vacay to Harlan County Reservoir, this is a can't miss stop."

The green sauce is delicious and not very hot. If you have a short lunch you can absolutely stop in for a quick bite and get straight back to work. They cater! They did for my employment, in any case. The fries are loaded...highly recommend. The rellenos have all of their seeds.Assortment of fountain coke drinks, as well as some 3.2 bottles, and real cane sugar sodas. Homar M. "There is much near Junction City, a small town near the geographical center of the Unites States, with a rich military past and right in between the Santa Fe and the Oregon Trail. Living in JC seems ok but without the entertainments of a medium city, there is not a magnificent children's museum or an aquarium, nothing significant to really visit, a downtown with closed shops like many kansas small towns, reminding us of better times. However, no far from JC few miles from Grand View Plaza, this is a place to visit. A truly modern American experience.Stacey's Restaurant offers a simple good breakfast menu, and lunch. You will not be disappointed by ordering the Hungry Man's Breakfast. The service is great and very polite, you will feel welcome among cowboy, trucker hats, old military pictures from Fort Riley, and John Deer paraphernalia. The place is quite big, it may hold about 100 people. It is visited mostly by local and soldier stationed in Fort Riley."

It is a clean, well maintained, friendly, and complete grocery store.Scott's has served the city of Lindsborg and surrounding towns with a great selection and quality groceries for years. This is a family business that Lindsborg should be/ and is proud to have locally. Having such a nice selection of groceries saves the locals from having to drive to Salina or McPherson to do their shopping. I had the bierock and onion soup. The meat filling and dough were in perfect proportion. The filling uses a generous amount of caraway seed. Make sure you like that flavor which I do. But we took our donuts for the road and were very disappointed. Our stop was on a Saturday at mid-morning so I'm not sure why the donuts tasted nearly stale. Mine was an old fashioned with chocolate frosting on top and the frosting was horrible tasting almost like gasoline. I don't know what went wrong with that and if we hadn't been miles down the road, I would have returned to warn them there was a serious problem. I'd never had a donut before that was so bad I actually had to spit it out! My husband's bear claw was far better and did have a nice cinnamon spice flavor but it seemed rather dry and day old. Judging by the busy parking lot and drive thru, this is a popular spot and I'm hoping our bad experience was a rare one. I can't say I'd come back though!"
