Situated in Downtown Independence, Kansas, this could-be cultural mecca was established to provide Independence with a sense of history and culture while updating and refurbishing this iconic landmark. Behind, what is said to be the oldest revolving door ever, is the lobby: a restaurant and bar. Downstairs is a performance space which has served as a dinner theater and music venue. Adjacent the lobby is a ballroom that can be rented out for events. The hotel itself has been transformed into apartments perfect for the young, and established. If you like to dine and drink within an astutely restored atmosphere, Booth Hotel will not disappoint. Hopefully, the Los Angeles to Kansas transplant owners will find a way to open a much needed art gallery in this beautiful space and continue to bring more of the arts to the town of Independence.

Located on the first floor of the establishment is a very, very good restaurant, Bella Vita Restaurant. With an Italian attention to detail, the two pasta with chicken dishes we ordered were fabulous. Flavorful, fresh and proportioned to fill but not stuff. Salads were fresh mixed greens and canolli was as good as you will find in Manhattan (NYC. - not Kansas). Small, but sufficient wine and beer list. Prices were remarkable and service friendly, prompt and playful. Well worth the extra drive.
