I've taken my animals to Bogue for many years and they have always been good. But recently, things have changed. It appears the entire staff has turned over and they seem to have trouble retaining staff. I'm not sure what the problem is but I hope they get it fixed. Because it was a great place. My animals loved going to Bogue.

These guys are pretty good group veterinarians. I gave them a shot because they were closer than my regular vet after I moved. They weren't too pushy with the upsell's on there various services which I find welcoming. I've recommended them to a friend and she's had pretty good luck.

I couldn't ask for better. My dogs love them. They are part of the family and they are always willing to help, and they are reasonably priced.

place has become way too overpriced (over $800 for my puppy to be spayed), we have canceled the appointment for that but while I was at the clinic they also mentioned how they may need to extract her puppy teeth "which is a whole separate operation." lmao like no. she's a 4 month old puppy and you're not going to get any more of my money especially after that conversation. I have been going to bogue for 5-6 years now and I am never going their again.

I went into Bogue Animal Hosp to ask for help with a problem. I was treated politely, but I don't feel like she really heard me. All of her answers led back to me bringing the dog into their clinic. The problem, it is a stray dog that has become a beloved neighborhood pet. There are 6 families that we know of, who feed her and provide water. This poor, sweet dog is terrified of people. After several months, she has finally let us pet her...but only rarely. She has hair loss that is worsening rapidly. We know she has fleas, and we worry that she has mange (one of our dogs had mange years ago, and this looks similar.) We were hoping to get Nexguard, a chewable flea medication. Our thought was to treat the fleas and hope it is not mange. If the flea meds didn't work, we worry that we'll have to go to Plan B...call Animal Control and possibly have her euthanized. She is miserable, poor thing. She is pulling out her own fur and she looks so terribly uncomfortable. We want to help her, but there is no way she'll get in a car. She seldom lets us near enough to pet her. The lady at the clinic said they can't give her the Nexguard unless she comes in. I re-explained that the dog won't get in a car. She suggested flea drops. I re-explained that the dog seldom lets us near enough to touch her. She suggested we take her to a behavior specialist. I re-explained about the car. She suggested we see if the specialist will come to us. I re-explained that the dog won't let most people near her, and it took many months before she'd let us pet her. I asked again about the chewable flea meds and she said she can't unless the dog comes in. In fairness to her, she was polite and respectful. And there are rules that she must follow....its just that i felt like she didn't really listen, or hear me. The true problem is that there is a sweet, scared, abandoned animal who needs help....and we can't get a chewable flea medication for her without an appointment. Sometimes, rules need to be bent to help someone in need. A bit of sympathy would have been appreciated.

Thanks for the update, unfortunately the person that answered the phone at your hospital failed to explain this. All I got was attitude - "We're not a pharmacy" in an unpleasant tone. I called another vet, had the records faxed to them, gladly paid $45 for an exam and bought the heart worm medicine from them. They understood the problem, and presented options to resolve it. I never said I wouldn't pay for an exam - my goal was to keep my dog healthy. Your associate made it clear that if I didn't have a pre-existing relationship she wasn't interested in my dog or myself. Maybe she was having a bad day. I don't know, but that's not my problem. The person that answers the phone often provides the first impression a potential customer forms about your hospital. In my case your associate drove me away, right to another vet.

This is funny I too was asked the question have you been to this clinic before? It was one of the first things out of her mouth. We had been, but I still had to have a well exam at a cost of $36.75. All I needed was a rabies vaccine. I am now going to Petco on their low cost vaccination days. This person was very nice and did not have an attitude with me at all. Vets had better sit up and take notice. There are other places to go for good care, not just their high cost clinic.

We loved Dr. Strief (not sure If I'm spelling that right), but I absolutely did not like Dr. Bogue. He was very rude and out of line with his staff, embarrassing her in front of us, and he just wasn't good with our animals. Our smaller dog is very energetic and was frightened, so of course he didn't act perfect, but Dr. Bogue just acted really annoyed by him. I will not be going back to him and do not recommend him I anyone!
