Big Smoke Barbecue

I always wanted to try Kansas BBQ and this place was recommended. I appreciated that they had various types of BBQ sauce from Kansas to Texas to Carolina. We were there at lunch and wasn't super busy so service was good. I got the burnt end Mac and cheese but before it came out we were served pork rinds. That gave me a Chance to try the different sauces before the food came. Now i can't say it's better than Texas BBQ but it was good. The place was nice and the bathroom was clean.

Good food with cracklins to start off the meal. Good variety and good flavor. Service was ok. It used to be an ice cream shop and still has the short bar to sit at if you don't want a table or booth.

Ordered online. Confirmation email. Showed up to pick up meal and the door was locked, lights off, chairs on the table. Tried to call the number and after ringing a little while, it just stopped. Not cool. They shouldn't have the option to order online when they are closed, even within their hours.

Do not, I repeat, do not try this place for breakfast. What on earth made me think that a bbq joint would serve a good breakfast? I like to try new venues when in town, and I was hungry. Portions were small, thankfully, as the flavors were masked by the haphazard presentation. I'll give it another try, but maybe for lunch.

Restaurant opened in Dec 2020; we waited until a snowy night to try it. Excellent! Very pleased with portion sizes, excellent sides (fire roasted corn and the vinegar-based apple slaw were favorites, as was mac and cheese) and the freshness of it all. Best part: portion sizes were very large, and 4 entrees were $41! Four of the four in our group said they'd go back - that's a win.

Our favorite BBQ in Hays! Reminds us of our favorite places in KC and Texas! Especially love the chicken, burnt ends and chili. Sides are tasty and fresh, too!

I thought eating at Blue Smoke was such a fun experience. The restaurant doesn't have appetizers. Instead, they give you fresh pork rinds to sample their four BBQ sauces. I loved the KC BBQ, he loved the tangy Memphis, and we liked the other two just fine. We tried all the meats between the two of us. Loved the hot links, shredded pork, added a rib, brisket was wonderful. Omg the apple slaw was delicious. Smoked mac n cheese was awesome. I just have wonderful things to say. Took a couple bottles of sauce home. Will go again.

Really kind staff helped me navigate their food options with my dietary restrictions. Answered all my questions and made me feel really supported. Thank you! Tried their brisket, pork and chicken. Brisket was my favorite, nice and moist with great marbled fat and lovely smokey flavor. Chicken was lovely and moist as well. Pulled pork was a little dry but good flavor.

Girlfriend and I stopped in last weekend for a new spot to try in hays. As I was told it used to be the old soda shop couple years ago. Big portions and typical bbq prices were average. Small little place and not noisy

Probably some of the driest no flavor boring brisket I ever had. Baked beans were good
