Cute, accommodating, and scenic location with great access. Loved the retro themed deco. Great value, especially compared to the prices in Joplin! If I am back in the area, will definitely stay here. Also got a great recommendation for dinner from the office! Very happy with my stay at Best Budget Inn! Thanks Kevin and Paula!!

Location quiet, bed ok, but bathtub was filthy and water drains slow in tub and sink. Drain covers need to be replaced or at least cleaned. No breakfast. Outside was pleasant.

Stayed here since I was working next door. Very clean non-smoking motel. Some of the furnishings are dated, like the bathroom, but hey!, It saw "The Mother Road" in it's heyday! It was a tad noisy with big rig traffic but nothing major. Kellogg Lake is right across Old 66 and is a beautiful state maintained facility. Kevin and his wife are really nice folks and made my stay very comfortable. The price was very reasonable since there was no breakfast served. If you're traveling Old 66, check this place out!

I just spent two weeks at Best Budget Inn of Carthage, Missouri, and it was a wonderful experience. The room was clean, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the bed was quite comfortable. In fact, about the only negative I can think of is the tiny size of the shower. Aside from that, the room was perfect! Next time I am in Carthage, they will definitely have my repeat business. Hopefully, that will be in warmer weather, when I can take advantage of the pool!

You can tell this place caters to extended stay guests. When I was there, there were a lot of construction workers in town, and needless to say the room I reserved was no longer available, and I had to settle for another room. But I was on an epic roadtrip, and I wasn't going for fancy when it came to place to sleep. They get 2 stars for having one of the friendliest staffs I have ever met. When I checked in, the front desk clerk went over a map of the town with me, directions to where I needed to go in the morning, and 3 seperate dinner suggestions. All with a huge smile :)Otherwise, the wi-fi doesn't exactly work, (slow connection and frequent shut downs) The shower doesn't really drain, reusable shampoo and body wash (as in, there was a mounted dispenser in the shower with a lid that doesn't lock, anyone could put anything in there) multiple burnt out lightbulbs, and dirty light fixtures (lots of dead bugs).I thought staying in Carthage would be nicer, but save yourself, upgrade and stay in Joplin instead.

We checked in and walked in to the room and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Comfortable bed, large shower, and nice retro furnishings including the fridge and microwave. The hotel is right next to a large lake and park. Site manager was very friendly and helpful to recommend the Red Oak 2 (interesting place to visit) and the town square which surrounds the county courthouse. We are currently traveling on Route 66 heading west and so far this was the nicest place we've stayed at. The other places should take lessons from this place.

What a quaint hotel. It's like stepping back in time. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel is close to downtown and right next to a nice park with a lake.

This is a very clean place to stay tucked back on the original Route 66. We have stayed here many times on our trips back and forth from Texas to Minnesota. The owners are wonderful and very friendly. They have owned the hotel for over 21 years and are working to keep it retro. They have updated many of the rooms yet still want to keep the retro tile and original vibe of the hotel as it would have looked back in the day. We've never encountered a problem here and will always stay here. There's a 3/4 mile walk around Kellogg Lake, which is just across the street.

Simply fantastic. This is a traditional hotel that takes you back to the 50s on Route 66. The inside of the room is updated and the outside is postcard perfect. The owner is super friendly. The pool is clean, the benches to sit on outside make you feel like you are sitting on your mom and dad's front porch. It is off the beaten path, however, the drive to the Budget Inn is scenic. The rooms are clean and unlock some places this has NO smoke smell at all. I will be back to stay for a weekend.
