B & B Cafe

I am going to keep this review short. If you find yourself in St. Mary's, KS and you want to have one of the best burgers you've ever had, stop at B&B.

Ate there with my daughter before I dropped her off for college. If you're looking for classic small town tavern experience (chicken fried steak sandwich, crinkle fries, a cheeseburger or a pork tenderloin, served on a melamine plate, with a coke or a domestic beer to wash it down), this is the place! They seem to have a rotating lunch special every day, too. The food and the ambience are spot on, even down to the grumbling about low grain prices and higher taxes coming from the other tables and the old-school menu board above the bar. The sights, the sounds, the tastes, and that awesome frying smell remind me of the small town tavern we used to stop into in the 70s and early 80s when I was visiting extended family as a kid.Context is everything: it's five stars for for a quick, relatively inexpensive lunch, a beer, and a trip down memory lane. Of course...if you want a cloth napkin and fine dining, it's a one star place.
