Appletree Inn

OMG run. This is like the Bates Motel. I have pictures. Decide for yourself. Blood on the sheets, a lice comb in the bathtub complete with live bugs. And no refund because I didn't shower until the morning, so I didn't see it. Run, don't walk. Spend an extra $20. Did I say run? I gave a one star because I HAD to. Oh wait they refunded me $15. like keep your money you clearly need it worse than I do.

I made a room reservation over the phone and was quoted price for room. When I arrived a they raised the rate and would not give me the price quoted on the phone. The desk clerk was rude and argued on and on basically arguing with herself. The key cards would'nt open any external doors.Therefore we had to enter through lobby or one external door that was never locked although a sign posted right beside door stated ^Locked at all times for your safety". Both were at far end from our room. Hotel and our room had a feeling of not being very clean. Mattress lumpy, mattress pad stained, sheets yellow/thin and didnt look or feel clean. Tub needed a good cleaning and had no stopper. Towels small and thin. I could go on but I'll end with I would not recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at the Apple Tree many times and I have to say it's went downhill. This use to be the best place to stay in Independence but from my most recent experience I know I'll need to try something else next time. The place did not seem to be kept up, the breakfast, although never great, was horrible this time. I'm not sure if I've ever slept in a more uncomfortable bed in my life, not to mention the stains on the bed spread. Pros- Downtown location- Swimming poolCons- Terrible breakfast - uncomfortable beds- stains on the sheets- lackadaisical staff

We stayed 2 nights during Neewollah. The room was clean. It is a nice sized room. We enjoyed the easy street access to all of the surrounding activities.The hotel staff were nice and made sure every question was answered in the nicest way.The breakfast was great.This was our second stay and again we forgot swim suits. We have already made our reservations for next year.... and I'll have to note swim on my calendar.

Got here and they tried to charge me more than what I was quoted when I placed reservations. The pool is freezing the jacuzzis are broken . I'm not happy and won't be staying here again . False advertising . Would have stayed at a air bnb for cheaper was just looking forward to swimming

Horrible, sketchy hotel with extra charges. We would never patronize this hotel again.

Unsanitary. Stayed for two nights in late July. Although we reserved three days through our bank rewards, we checked out a day early. When we first entered the room, the TV was on and there were two empty Taco Bell wrappers on a night stand. There were crumbs in the lounge chair and trash behind the dresser (water bottle, granola bar wrappers, etc.). The shower curtain was so stained that the lower half had mold and an orange hue. The light in the shower was cracked. The ceiling tiles in the bathroom were water stained and caving in. The toilet paper roll was nearly empty. Two lamps were missing lightbulbs. The comforter and layering sheet had stains of various colors. No telling when the pillows were cleaned, so we bought two pillows to use. Although there are no smoking signs, we encountered a smell of something. We asked for clean towels and were told they'd be delivered. 30 minutes later we stopped waiting and left for dinner. We didn't use the pool or hot tub. And, we didn't eat the hotel breakfast. Although one side door requires a card to enter, another door has no locking mechanism, so anyone can enter the hotel. The positives: The a/c worked and the cleaning staff were very helpful with extra towels and trash removal. Centrally located to downtown.

This place was one of the worst hotels I've stayed at staff or rude when we needed help they were rude the pool smelled horrible it smells like mold the rooms are no smoking and it smells like smoke in my room in my other room we got it it smells like butt their breakfast was horrible you had to eat breakfast in your room or the swimming pool area in the swimming pool area it was very hot for no reason they ran out of food an hour and a half before breakfast and was over you had to ask the front desk staff to turn the heat on for the hot tubs it says all outside doors are locked that's not true The other room their refrigerator went out in the middle of the night staff was rude about that Bad air conditioning in either room The food was cold and didn't taste good when the fridge did go out in the middle of the night the next day we told someone in the staff snootily said you should've told us at midnight when it went out the other room the light was flickering so much that it was giving them headaches does vending machines we're hot which melted the food inside of them there was no working ice machine and when the one did work it ran out of advice fast The room was dirty bedsheets were stained mirrors were stained there was under the toilet please don't stay here would not recommend and I just found out that they had bed bugs

My boyfriend and I booked a room for 3 nights. When we arrived, the young girl at the front desk, by the name Kristen, seemed very agitated....that was until my boyfriend came in a few minutes behind me. She got bubbly and giggly and practically threw herself at him right in front of me! We didn't the rest of the day relaxing on our room, which was quite clean. The housekeepers were great! I woke in the night to find my boyfriend gone. I walked into the hallway towards the windows to check our vehicle but on the way I heard my boyfriends voice coming from the room I was passing. I knocked on the door and covered the eye hole. Kristen answered the door, in her underwear and I asked if she'd seen my missing boyfriend. She opened the door wider so that i could see him sitting on the edge of the bed facing what appeared to be a stripping pole. Needless to say we didnt stay the rest of our reserved weekend and we will never stay there again.​

Very clean and quiet. Super price. Older hotel but still great. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was very courteous and was right on the slight hiccup in the room ( no bath towels ). Parking was a little tight. One half a block from the old downtown.
