Amateur's Bar 'N Grill

Beth and myself just had burger and salad here. Was ok. My burger patty was thin and smaller. A real opportunity here for them to have amazing foods and create huge customer group from distance towns. Do handmade, larger portions...even their own made bread buns, everything from scratch. Lots of people will spread the word. Every place like that I have been to, quite a few in fact, got customers standing in line waiting to get in.

I ate here with a group of colleagues after a day of meetings. We wanted to discuss work for the next day. The place had a nice spacious table for us to spread out papers and discuss. The staff was friendly and attentive, yet gave us space to discuss. They have a pretty standard offering of beers on tap, with one exception. It was a jalapeño beer! They gave us a sample. It was not my cup of tea. I had a Moscow Mule. Unfortunately the ginger beer tasted flat. We ordered a few appetizers. The place has a great selection of deep fried foods. We opted for the fried pickles, haystacks, corn nuggets, mushrooms and nachos. Everything was excellent. But, the corn nuggets were the standout. The ranch dressing was excellent. If you're looking for fresh healthy options, this is not the place. But, if you want some deep fried bar food, this is tough to beat.

Food is usually good. Service usually sucks though. A couple decent waitresses. My husband works in the service industry we have no problem waiting as we know places are short staffed right now. But you don't have to be rude.

We have been coming to Cambridge for spring vacation for 15+ years. Amateur's was a staple we would go there 2 or 3 times a week. This year. . It was closed 2 times when it was supposed to be open. The third time it was open. . . It wasn't packed but it was busy. It took the waitstaff 10 minutes to bring menus drop them and leave, there are url codes on the tables that show the menu. Then we ordered. Philly steak and cheese burger corn nuggets and fries. She asked if Ranch was needed for the nuggets and we said yes. I asked for my fries extra crispy. She returned saying no nuggets so we changed it to fries extra crispy. When the food came out the fries were almost raw. There was ranch on the side. (No corn nuggets but we still got the ranch) the pepper steak was salty. Ok but salty. The cheese burger was good. The atmosphere is a bar with kids, fun. The over all use to be great. Now it's like they really don't care.

Five stars. Yes, it is possibly the only bar around, and while they could probably get away with a lot less with that kind of exclusivity, they don't. The staff genuinely seemed to care, and the prices were quite affordable. Not to mention the menu had a lot more options on in than I anticipated, and there's plenty of room for groups too.I had the combo pizza, a Prairie Pride beer that came in a 16oz mason jar, and a large chocolate malt. All of them were wonderful.In a side room, they had a pool table(possibly a second as well.) and a foosball table, while in the main room, they had an old school looking jukebox and Mrs. Pacman/Galaga. Additionally, I would like to point out that they had two bathrooms for your convenience.

It's okay. Two stars is just about correct here. You can get a full belly and some cheap beer.

Great food and service, the pizza is outstanding as well as the cheeseburgers and salad! Extremely pleased with the service!

Staff was great and the food was delicious.I will definitely dine again my next visit.

Good, reasonably priced food. The only game in town most evenings. Nice people. Good bar.

We were never was even acknowledged or got a menu after 10 minutes, so we left. It was so unwelcoming that we felt like they didn't want us there. We asked if we just pick a table and that's all the interaction we had.
