Sometimes, "five starts" is a choice I make to show I liked a meal. This place earned all 5 stars. It's clean, it's well decorated, the seating is comfortable, the bar is well stocked. More than all, the food was EXCELLENT. Only the dearly departed Oranje in Colby rivals this non-metropolitan culinary gem. The place was packed for both lunch and dinner, and the same 2 guys were working the whole time. The front of house guy apologized profusely for being understaffed but this clearly wasn't his fault. Chase County hits different, and this place shows it. The whole experience could be reheated junk but it was among the best meals I've had in memory. So go. Have the steak. Have a beer or seven. Talk to the locals. Talk to Jared, but if he tells you he is sorry, tell him I am sorry nobody told me the food was this good, and know you can't say the same now.

Had the Ad Astra and the Bison burgers. Really good burgers as well as the huge steak fries. Service was great even though they were short handed. Nice bar atmosphere with a big screen tv. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

Cottonwood Springs and Strong City KS are in the Flint Hills and minutes from each other. This restaurant is a must to eat at as they put heart into their food and atmosphere.We had fried Brussels sprouts with a Chile Ginger sauce, So Hood & lasagna rolls stiffed with goat cheese, spinach, roasted red peppers and house marinara. Beers on tap were KC Blvd, KC Beer Co. Dunked, Free State from a Lawrence KS. and a few others. Totally impressed

You can never go wrong at the Ad Astra. Service is so good, and the food and drink are the best. I had the special slab of spare ribs, I wasn't sure what to think when they can out so black, but the crisp, spicy crust was amazing. Don't forget the pie!

Food, atmosphere and service is always excellent and when they have live music once a month or so . . . It just makes it better.You can't go wrong if you head to Ad Astra!

Dirty owner don't pay his employees doesn't clean uses bad meat grill is gross so is the fryer only cleans fryer once ever 2 weeks equipment don't work

my husband worked for this business and after 3 weeks still have not received his final paycheck. the kitchen is not clean. Overall somewhere I would not spend my money.

My friend and me had not been in for a while. It was Thursday Evening We both had the Bison burger with a couple of drinks and added onion rings and Brussels sprouts. Service was out standing and food was excellent. At recommendation of server I took home the 2 lb piece of chocolate cake. It did not disappoint. I will return

Ad Astra is open and thriving. Wonderful menu - complete with burger, Bison Burgers, steaks, and a wonderful Chicken sandwich. We were thrilled with our dinner and with the service. One of us had the Yard Bird Chicken sandwich and two of us had Bison Burgers. Everything was piping hot and just plain delicious. The sandwich buns were super fresh. Others were having steaks and they looked wonderful. Prices are super reasonable. This is a must check out place.

An amazing experience after a horse ride in the hills. Authentic owner in the house, laboring to build a full service restaurant in a small town. He tells you he is the menu. But what a menu he tells you about! Most excellent burgers and steak fries. My very reasonable 10 oz 'select' grass fed filet matched any in recent memory. Very relaxing atmosphere. If you like a good quality meat and an superb fry, with leftovers to take home, this is your place. We will return as often as we can.
