56 Family Restaurant

I love trying out local spots when I'm travelling and 56 Family Restaurant was a great find for lunch while out and about in central Kansas. When you walk in you can tell that this place is somewhere that the locals love, and that likely has some great food, and maybe pie? I didn't get pie, but it had the vibes of a place that serves up a mean dessert. So if I go back that will be on the agenda. Looking at the menu I felt like I needed some kind of sandwich and onion rings - onion rings at these mom and pop type places tend to be amazing so I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with the rings. The onion rings were as I expected, amazing. The sandwich, also great - especially given that you can tell they likely hand batter the chicken and the bun was clearly homemade. 4/5 stars just because we had a ton of mistakes with our order, including me having to ask about my onion rings and a few other things with missing or wrong drinks etc. The folks working were really kind though, and we got all issues resolved fairly quickly. Would I go back? For sure. The food is great.

I had their breakfast with bacon and eggs, hash browns, sourdough, and coffee. The homemade bread was delicious. I went a second time and had my breakfast to go. It's a better experience to stay for breakfast.

This place is well worth the drive. Great prices, huge portions, friendly staff, and the food was amazing! The homemade sausage is the way to go. Pancakes were on point too. Can get noisy, but it was still amazing. We will be back for sure!

Cheeseburgers were BIG! Homemade buns and freshly hand formed patties. Served with a generous portion of fries or onion rings. Excellent service. They also offered breakfast all day but the burgers were calling or names. Will def be back when in there area again. Huge bierocks we on display as well, made with fresh dough.

Great food, large portions, restaurant is very clean and very friendly and helpful staff.

When the food is delicious and I'm having a good time I always forget to take pictures of the food. I say that to say this, trust me when I say you get more than what you pay for (in my case $8 for pancakes, scrambled cheesy eggs, and bacon). The eggs...farm freshThe bacon...I swear they have a butchery in the back The pancakes...sweet cream?? And I got like 3-4 decent sized pancakes. Service was great, the ladies were so kind and quick but not rushing you quick. It's a cozy cafe with comfy seating and Kansas facts all over. Loved it. They close at 2pm on a Saturday but service breakfast all the way through. After 10:45 you can't find breakfast in McPherson...something I learned today...but that's okay 56 Family is barely 10 minutes away. Little town with big servings. I'm thankful I found this place today and I be back again and again bc I love a good breakfast. Also the homemade sausage...GET IT. So if you're passing through or need some good inexpensive eats...skip iHop and Perkins and everywhere else and come here!!!

The food In wonderful and you will not go away hungry. Make sure you get dessert to go!

Great food, good service! I ordered the hamburger. It was delicious and more than I could eat. Took half of it to go for later. Enjoyed!

Excellent food good small town cafe atmosphere. The Bierocks are the best! Come early if you want to fine a seat!
