Great burger and then some spot in Ocean Beach, California. Whomp Burger is making a name for themselves with their delicious smashed burgers, tots, and fries. For lunch, I had the new and improved Spicy Whomp Burger with a seasoned quarter pound patty, succulent grilled onions, charred jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, a tasty jalapeño jam, and touch of spicy ranch for $14 with tater tots.The burger was great. I liked the light charring on the beef patty, and I really loved the charring of the jalapeño slices. The burger was very tasty, perhaps a little over seasoned with salty, but other than that, it was a keeper. The jalapeño jam was very good, too. The tator tots were on point. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Seasoning was spot on, too.The service was very down to earth and friendly. The place has a nice patio in the back and offers several taps, too.

On Tuesdays, they have a burger and beer special for only $15.02! Since I don't really drink beer, I didn't take advantage of the deal LOL. I got the Spicy Whomp and hubby opted for the Deluxe Burger. You can choose either fries or tots and we both got fries! We also shared some buffalo wings as well.Food was ready pretty quickly! The burgers, fries, and wings were good! I think the patties could've used a little more flavor, but still tasty.

A friend mentioned that Whomp Burger had some of the crispiest tater tots and I was intrigued! It's been awhile since I've found a place with crispy tots. Located in Ocean Beach, Whomp Burger has a small indoor space with only two booths and some countertop seats. There's more tables outside and it's definitely giving beach vibes. We found street parking right in front of the restaurant but there's also a small lot behind the building. Order at the counter and the staff will bring the food to you when it's ready. Classic Wings: Can order 6 or 10 pieces. We chose to split a small order of the classic wings. It comes with a couple of carrot sticks and a side of their homemade buttermilk ranch. Pretty standard, good classic, hot wing taste. No complaints here. Deluxe Burger: Comes with two quarter pound patties, grilled onions, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese...pretty much everything you could ask for in a perfect burger. I thought having two patties would make it pretty big but the burger size was still pretty standard. I was surprised by how juicy and flavorful their patty was. Personally, this ranked high in the list of best burgers in SD! The tater tots were crispy but I thought it could have been seasoned a bit more. Kind of funny how I came for the tots but left more impressed with the burger instead. Delicious meal and I will gladly recommend to friends whenever they're looking for a good burger.

The food is great the ambiance is perfect and the staff is friendly. Location is great right after hanging out at the local beaches or jumping off the cliffs. Do yourself a favor and swing through.

Whomp Burger & Brew is a neighborhood spot that has delicious Burgers and maybe the crispiest tater tots I've ever had!- PARKING -Street parking here as well as a lot in the back that have specific spots for customers!- SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT -Theres indoor and outdoor seating available here, but most of the tables only fit 4 comfortably, so I wouldn't bring a huge group unless you're okay with splitting up. When you first walk in, you're met with the bar as well as where you order your food. They'll deliver it to your table once it's done. Really nice and quick service here!- FOOD -Spicy Whomp & Tots: The description of a Jalapeno Jam and Pepper Jack Cheese sucked us in and we definitely wanted to try this burger. It definitely lived up to our expectations - super flavorful, super juicy, and unique flavors! What really blew me away was how crispy the tater tots were! You couldn't eat one without a huge crunch noise, and they were addicting to eat!Fried Chicken Sandwich: This was also super delicious! The Chicken was a huge piece, and similar to the tots, the outside skin was crispy. I liked the sauce in the sandwich, and the buns were soft too! I'm glad we got two orders with tots so we didn't have to share!- OVERALL -Great spot for burgers, sandwiches, and TOTS! Make sure you check out their deals, one being a Burger and Beef for $15!

Our local burger joint in OB. My kids and I live around the corner from Whomp Burger! Their burgers are juicy and fries are fire! Support local OB restaurants.

Bomb burger place if you're in OB after being at the beach or strolling around the area! Super great choices and their selections are all flavorful! We ordered the deluxe and spicy chicken and was not disappointed. Parking isn't bad as well even if it's street parking and there's additional seating in the back.

Very nice seating area and staff. Food was reasonably priced and exceeded my expectations. The service was nice as they were kind and helpful. I recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Not going back. My husband and I generally avoid it since whenever we have eaten there we end up feeling "whomped". Translation: Food is low quality and greasy and upsets our stomachs every time. The price is high for bad food and unreliable service. I live nearby and want to like this place given the convenience factor, but really wish they would just close and something decent would move in.
