Whitt's Barbecue-West Nashville

There are a few parking spaces on either side of the building and a drive thru! I needed time to mull over the menu since it was my first time, so I parked and walked up. Full Slab Ribs: Seasoned VERY well and tender. A+!Pork Plate: Moist and soft, really yummyTurkey Loaded Potato: The Turkey had such a good smokey taste and it was moist too! BBQ Sauce: YES! Had both their spicy and mild, although the spicy was my fave, the mild wasn't far behind. Don't worry it's only a slight kick on the spicy!My only critique? The mac & cheese could've been a smidge cheesier. Overall, the food was fantastic and we enjoyed our meals thoroughly! However, the best part of Whitt's was the service. Staff here are super helpful and sweet! This place was recommended by someone who has grown up eating it over decades and continues to love it... I can see why!

FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Ahh the loaded turkey baked potato really hit the spot. The amount of meat that came with the potato was just right. Also, the BBQ sauce was unique and amazing. Definitely worth it.

so...one cold and gloomy day, my wife and i were craving some good bbq so we decided to give this place a try. after reading Yelp reviews we quickly learned that there is no dine in option and is carry out only. we ordered two slabs of ribs, and two sides of baked beans and mac and cheese.the guy that was working the window looked almost identical to Stephen King and was very short with us. he must have been having one of those days, or was suffering from writer's block. we did get our food quickly, but Mr. King acted like we were an inconvenience to his busy day (there was no one else in line.)when we got home, we tried our very sub par bbq and we were very disappointed. there was absolutely nothing special or even good about the ribs or sides. very bland, barely warm, and a good waste of about $35. on the other hand, i am a big fan of Mr. King's film adaptations!

When visiting Tennessee, one must try hot chicken and bbq. We started with bbq. The Whitt's location which we visited was a walk-up or drive thru only. This was a little disconcerting because it was raining and our local who suggested it, left out that important fact. However, the food was delicious. Great portions and extra tasty sides. The only unusual item for me was their bread. I describe it as a mix between corn bread and pound cake. Again, delicious, just unusual. We visited 2 other recommended stops which I'll review as well. Whitt's gets a thumbs up from me.

They had a great turkey plate with macaroni and cheese and potatoes salad. They even were generous with the pickles; they don't even know how much of a plus that was. It was so good, and I was so hungry, that I forgot to snap a picture. The menu is not vast, and I don't do pork, but what they do; they do well!

I love Whitt's! I've never had a bad eating experience there, but the guy running the store was rude, put out for anything you asked for, had a bad attitude, and, to be frank, was unclean.

I live 2 min from this location but I work 3 min from the Madison location. I like flat wings only. When I go to " Wings Wednesday" at the Madison location they are accommodating and give me all the flats I want (I take extra home for later). I'm home tonight and call the 37209 West Nashville location about 5:57 pm on Friday evening and request only flat wings. The man who answered said they cant do that. I ask why. He says they make only so many and (in essence) you get what you get. I was appalled. That is no way to do business. I asked how many wings they had and he said I don't know. So he would not even go and attempt to accommodate me. Like he doesn't even care. That is NOT the Whitt's way. Anyway I'm writing this to say that cash and customer is king. I told the man he was rude. I'm going to report him to the Whitt's family. Ugh I totally suggest everyone going to the Madison location.

Whitt's is a carryout only joint, claiming to keep prices low. That they do! If you are in it just for the sandwich or a family pack (like 1 lb of meat, a few sides, etc.) the prices are super reasonable. I paid just under $8 for a pound of pulled pork and less than $4 for a pint of cole slaw. The pulled pork was amazingly moist and super flavorful. You can add your own sauce or use one of their free packs (red or vinegar based, I prefer vinegar)...but nice to know it is not pre-determined. You can also eat it plain, it is super good as well. The cole slaw is not mayo based, but more tart - vinegar tasting, which is great to me...and no fat :) Even better. I will be back to try the turkey and for sure will be back for the pulled pork. Being a local chain that has family roots, this also makes it a great choice over corporate run chains.

Absolutely the WORST!!!! You ask for sauce, they don't give you ANY!!!!! On top of it the sandwiches are overpriced for the quality. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and go ANYWHERE ELSE.
