From start to finish, this was such a memorable dining experience! The ambiance, the staff, the drinks, and the food were fantastic. The hostess (Stephanie) was really nice and helpful. She got us seated right away and recommended her favorite drink. Our server (Patrick I think) was also really helpful with the food recommendations and we had a funny conversation about all the people that invaded the restaurant before some big country concert. The avocado Daiquiri was phenomenal. The salmon Tartare was some of the best food I've ever had - we were there at the right time for super fresh wild salmon. For dessert, the chocolate cake was SO rich and delicious. I highly recommend West 122!

We came in for 6:00 reservations which we thought would give us plenty of time to make a 7:30 show. But we were soooo wrong. It took quite a few minutes to get seated which gave us a chance to soak in the nautical ambiance. The pass through to the back tables is very reminiscent of a ship's hold. We ordered a hot tea and a bramblin on when our server appeared very promptly. The menu looked great and it was hard to settle on an entree selection, fortunately we had plenty of time to ruminate. We started with the great northern bean purée. Our drinks arrived quickly. The bramblin on was fantastic! It seemed to take a while for plates to make their way out. We waited over 20 minutes for our appetizer to make its way to the table from the kitchen. Our server stopped by to apologize, noting that they got very busy. We did go ahead and put our entree orders in since we had a show to get to. We went with the roasted butternut squash and goat cheese ravioli and the roast chicken with apple cider jus. The purée is a great appetizer - very flavorful. We finished with the provided spoon once we ran out of dipping veggies and crostini.By 7:00 we still hadn't seen any entrees. Nor had we received any water refills during that hour. Our first water refill arrived at 7:02. We asked when our water was finally refilled when our entrees would be arriving and we're told ours were the next up. But that didn't really provide us with a timeline. By 7:09 I had to let our server know that if our food was ready in the next five minutes we would have to have it boxed to go and if it didn't arrive she would just have to bring us a check and we'd come by another time. Our food came out at 7:12 but not boxed like we asked. We had to immediately hand it back and ask, again, for it to be boxed. They did comp half of the entree cost since we were unable to eat our food before our show - which was very nice. The waiter when checked us out said that "everyone has to be at the show" and laughed at us. That was pretty rude given our experience. I'd like to recommend the restaurant, the food might be good if I ever get to eat it, but given our experience it would be criminal to do so.

We had date night here tonight and it was our first time in. For starters, I loved the interior decor. It's rustic and lovely. The service was wonderful. Had a server named Ben and he was just awesome and helpful. I had a pasta dish that was was one of two specials for the evening. It was delicious and the perfect amount of food. My BF had the flatiron and also really liked it. We normally share a dessert but we splurged and ordered two (That's how many they offer) and also ordered coffees. Both desserts were really delish. We had to take half of the bread pudding home it was so large. The coffee comes in your own personal French press and is wonderful. All in all, this was a really good meal in a great atmosphere. There is also a larger space in the back that was booked by a business when we were there. I bet that space is really awesome too. We'll be back!

If you're looking for a new casual restaurant that offers a great happy hour menu, then head over to West 122 in downtown Tacoma on PAC AVE. West 122 has a cool vibe and is a great date night spot. We like that they feature fresh, local, Pacific Northwest ingredients inspired by Spanish, Italian, and French cuisine. Think tapas, pasta, and cheese and wine. Recommendations: Try the tapenade crostini and the mini wedge salad, both available on their "golden hour" menu. For the main, try the golden crusted Alaskan halibut! It was awesome!

My friend and I get together once a week and we wanted to try something new. The nautical-ish themed decor is really nice and tastefully done. We were seated and greeted by our server Patrick right away. He went through the menu and wines. We ordered the steak special and the peppercorn crusted steak that was on the menu. The only problem was my peppercorn steak that was supposed to be medium rare was mostly medium well with one part medium. My friend's was medium rare and was supposed to be medium. Normally I would send it back but we were so hungry we just ate them. The sauce was delicious and we both said we'd go back again.

Impromptu dinner plans with two friends on a Wednesday evening. We went downtown to this corner knowing there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. We tried two restaurants we knew in the area, but the wait was way too long. We came across West 122 and decided to give it a try. Ambiance is nice- we were sat in the way back, no other tables around us. Service was prompt- ordered our cocktails. Cocktails were fantastic- can't recall the name of what I ordered. We shared the Great Northern Bean spread to share- there were 3 of us- came with 5 small crostinis- so a ton of dip- very few "dippers", we eventually asked for more crostinis. Myself and a friend ordered the spaghetti and meatballs- I don't normally order this dish at a restaurant but the menu stated "homemade pasta and meatballs. The dish fell short, bland was the consensus. Also pretty dry, I had to request more sauce.Overall- meal was okay, not great. Service/ambiance- great.

New to me, and a treat in many ways. Great service, diverse menu (wonderful roasted Brussels Sprouts), nice bar choices with many non-alcoholic options. Much larger that it appears from the outside, since it goes back deeply. Comfy. I want to go back!

We were in Tacoma for a birthday party & happened upon this place. We sat at their really nice bar & the bartender took excellent care of us. That have this amazing happy hour so we ordered a lot of small plates after we got our wine & martinis. We got 2 orders of meatballs (they were so good), wedge salad, Mac & cheese & beef sliders. Everything was absolutely delicious, the prices were so reasonable, the atmosphere so nice & the service was excellent! I just wish we lived closer than an hour away! We will be back though!
