Wonderful spot, highly recommend for dinner, lunch, or even just cocktails. The noodle flavors were bold, craft, and unique. The cocktails were outstanding and had such clever integration of Chinese ingredients. The manager M is highly attentive and made our experience very memorable.- Noodles: Beef Beef Lu 9/10- Drinks: Rice rocket 9/10, Old fashioned (not on menu) 10/10, Gin-fruit drink (on menu, can't remember name) 9/10.

i am a huge fan of yunnan, especially their bento lunch boxes and when i came back to share the love with a few of my friends i was slightly disappointed. the presentation lacked a lot of dimension and color compared to the last time i was here. the main dish bowl was still amazing but the side dishes are where i felt different. i got the potato as one of my sides and noticed it was not as crispy. it felt as if it had been made a while ago and heated up in the microwave and got lukewarm- mushy. but the first time i had them the crunch was amazing. same with the tomato side dish. it lacked color and the crispy item on top was white compared to tan and was not crispy. i hate to leave a review like this because i have such a fond memory of this place but it just felt as though the food was not up to par. service was still amazing, and it was nice and clean on the inside. i hope to come back and experience it like the first time i had bento lunch box.

Had a beautiful lunch experience at Yunnan. The food was stellar but the service was even better. Honestly, for the quality of the food and experience, the price is right. This is not run-of-the-mill Chinese food - it's authentic and different in the best ways. The flavors of every single dish offer essences of sweet, savory heat and everything was so good. Of the many items we tried, here are my faves:-The noodle bowl. The noodles are so light and everything else in the bowl is such a nice compliment. -lobster cream dumplings: these were incredible-lamb and duck skewers/kabobs were divine! The Ube rose cheesecake was also fire. The Ube was subtle, as was the rose, but the texture was amazing. I look forward to coming back and trying more!

Came here on Valentines Day, the restaurant isn't very big, but it was pretty full. This was an experience, quite different from restaurants I've been to, I did not know what a lot of the menu items were. We started off with Little 4 Cucumbers, I loved it. We ask tried the duck skewer and lamb skewer. The lamb flavor was delicious, duck was a bit chewy. I ordered Grandma Parou, soo good, spicier than I usually like but fantastic, very flavorful. I ended our night with Babaofan. Unfortunately I was not a fan of it at all. It reminded me of peanut butter and jelly, and oatmeal at the same time. I also ordered a drink, gin something. When it was brought out the waiter burned some orange peel( nice little show). It was good but I have no idea what it was because the waiter did not know. I'm going to assume our waiter was new because he did seem a bit nervous and did not seem to be fully aware of menu items. He was very friendly though. When asked if we had any allergies my husband said shellfish and the waiter said we don't have any of that. Then proceeded to point to us suggestions which clearly included shellfish. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STAFF KNOWS WHAT SHELLFISH INCLUDES.

I'd hate to call this an obituary for an outstanding restaurant, especially since I can still visit their other location in Arlington, but I will dearly miss having the Yunnan By Potomac in our neighborhood in North Old Town. We've been coming here for years, on dates, with friends and sometimes just for carryout.I have to be honest and tell you that there is nothing, and I stress, NOTHING that is not fantastic on their menu. Couple that with a crisp natural wooded environment and fantastic service, Yunnan had to be in my top 3 favorite restaurants.Of particular note, and I understand will still be available in their new Pentagon City home, is their weekday lunch Bento Box. For $25 you get to pick 3 Xiaochi small plate, a choice between several Bao Bun and Jiaozi Dumplings options and then your pick of Mixian Noodles. And if that is not waaay too wonderful (and you'll be stuffed if you can make it through all of that) this will all be topped off with the most delicious cheesecake custard. Wow!Of the Xiaochi, the Wood Ear & Mint Salad, the Tomatoes and Burrata and the Laonai Potatoes, twice baked chunks, perfectly seasoned accompanied by a dash of spring onion and cilantro slaw. My choice for a Bao has been both the All American Burger Bao Bun or the Spicy Fried Chicken Bao Bun. For dumplings, I love the steamed Peking Duck and the Beef Short Rib ones. The choices for the Mixian Noodles is also very tempting with my top choices being the Liang Mixian Salad and the Grandma Parou. As sorry as I am to see our neighborhood location go due to the forthcoming demolition of the Montgomery Center, I will still be able to get my noodle fix in Pentagon City!

Yunnan on the Potomac is a hidden gem, this cozy noodle house offers a warm and inviting dining experience, perfect for a quiet evening out.The food here is excellent--each dish is beautifully presented. A unique feature is their tea service. A curated tea selection is brought to your table, allowing you to read about the health benefits of each option before choosing. The waitstaff is attentive, the ambiance is peaceful, with minimal noise, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate a relaxed setting. It's worth noting that the restaurant will be moving locations soon, so make sure to visit while you can--or keep an eye out for their new spot in Pentagon City.

Chinese restaurant with delicious food served up in a small space with a bunch of tables crammed inI came here for dinner on a Friday night with my GF. Although we came at 6:45 they had already sold-out of many of the dishes & drinks that we wanted to try. This being said, we still opted to each get a cocktail, a duck dumplings dish to share, and one noodles/soup dish each. The dumplings were fantastic but the noodles dish was pretty bland.Food took a little while to come out, but our server was very friendly

The food is excellent, though not exactly authentic Asian or Chinese but more like fusion. Smartly done. Service is good, just what is needed for a casual restaurant. Ambience is good too. Casual and a place that you bring anyone. Sangria - excellent drink. Good subtleties but it is leaning the sweet side.Butter crap dumpling - luxurious, feel like a ravioli so do aware this is not soup dumplingWinter Mellon cheese cake - light and fluffy and fairly tasty and not too heavy and sweet

Yunnan By Potomac Noodle House is amazing! The service is fantastic--friendly, attentive, and always on point. The Asian pear and radish appetizer is an absolute favorite of mine--so fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The rest of the menu is just as impressive, making it one of my go-to spots for a delicious and authentic meal. Highly recommend!

The food was very good and the menu was interesting so that I want to return. I am concerned that they are changing their location to the Pentagon City area.
