This spot took me out for the day. It's a tiny super vibey spot with super nice staff, quick service and delicious food. Came for lunch and over-ordered a bit. My husband and I got fries, onion rings (a MUST), the chicky pep and char siu sandwich. We could've split one sandwich and one side but we over-ate the deliciousness and needed an immediate nap. The cool ranch onion rings are UNREAL. My husband said they're a little dusty for his taste- but I loved it. Will for sure be back again soon!

This is without a doubt the best sandwich shop in DC! Their menu is solid and they regularly feature limited time options as well--the Chicky Caesar Sarnie was phenomenal. You definitely get what you pay in not only creativity, but also the amount of food you get. Every sandwich I've gotten was packed with plenty of meat!I've only gotten takeout but can't wait to come back and dine-in with a cocktail or two. I love the stained glass decor!

Offers both a window order/take out option and dine in, inside a somewhat intimate bar area. Simple with just the right touch of old school in the rectangular wooden bar. Cacio y pepe fries are a nice spin - the Calabrian chili mayo is really good. I had a rotating sandwich, the RPG with char siu roast pork, garlic Duke's Mayo, Cantonese-style bok choy, hot duck sauce on a soft roll. Very good flavors. The roll is substantial like a hoagie roll and the other sandwiches I saw around the bar were on those too. It's a lot of bread and might requiring some shuffling of inside ingredients, but tastes good.Didn't have a cocktail. Was feeling a beer but they seemed to have a limited can selection. Wasn't meant to be.Service was attentive and they seemed cool if that matters for anything.

We stumbled across Your Only Friend while heading to the DC convention center. What a unique spot to grab a bite to eat. There are a view small tables in the bar area and then stools around the bar. Known as a sandwich bar, the menu has creative sandwiches as well as unique sides. The pickle fried chicken sandwich was unusually satisfying with a touch of heat from the habanero butter. This was a sandwich from the daily specials menu. My son got the sub club which he really liked and said it was one of the best subs he had ever eaten. We sat at the bar and were served by the bartender. She was very friendly and it seemed like we were eating at her dining room table. I got the feeling that if you lived in the neighborhood this was the spot to frequent and never get tired of eating the chef's creations. Great vibe!!

I want to teleport back here just to have the fish sandwich again. What a fever dream. Got here around 7pm, the inside is very small with a storefront like entrance where you could order food to go and a bar attached. There's limited seating for groups larger than 3 otherwise you have to sit at the bar. When we came in another patron was saving seats at the bar for friends, because of this my friend and I opted for a table at the window. An employee named Sam asked us to sit at the bar because the seats were best for groups larger than 3. He then went a step further and let the gentleman at the bar know he couldn't save those seats. I very much appreciated him not just asking us to move but ensuring that we had somewhere to go. Once we were seated at the bar we were serviced by a woman named Lacy. We had:Drinks:Clarified Orange Julius - 10/10 - this tasted like a orange cream soda, it was dangerous. I could see myself getting tipsy off this because it was so easy to drink. House twisted tea - 10/10 - I love when my liquor doesn't taste like liquor. This was refreshing while also intoxicating. Cool ranch onion rings - 10/10 - sprinkle the Doritos crumble on me when I die, I beg you. As someone obsessed with cool ranch Doritos this was such a perfect bar snack. Paired with their house ranch this was so good. The sub club - 6/10 - this sandwich would be different if the bread was toasted and the turkey added was even with the lettuce. Instead it felt like a lettuce sandwich with a little turkey. They may make their pickles in house as well which is a nice touch. It was flavorful but wish there was more meat. Fish fryday - 10/10 - I'm coming back for you baby. This sandwich was perfection. The texture, the size of the fish, the homemade tarter, it was all so good. If I had ANY complaint about this place it would be that the bread was too soft BUT it didn't ruin the sandwich at all. I've been thinking about it since yesterday and have to come back. The bathrooms were clean, the service was great and the food was amazing. I'll absolutely be back here.

Adding the sub club and cool ranch onion rings to my go-to order here! The sub club is a classic turkey sub but the added parm really elevates it for me. The cool ranch onion rings are covered in seasoning and delicious. Honorable mention of the hot fish sandwich served on Fridays. So good!!

The woman who took my order at the counter was the sweetest person and so warm and welcoming! The sandwich was fantastic - fresh bread, and above all great, flavorful fillings with varied textures and just a 10/10 sandwich experience. The only thing I think would have been better for me is more variety in bread - when I went, pretty much everything was served on a soft roll, which was good, but their sandwiches draw from a lot of different cuisines and it could be cool to see more variety! (Fine, I just love ciabatta.) There's plenty of seating and a nice waiting area if you're ordering take out like me. I'm always on the hunt for a good sandwich and I'm so glad to have stopped by! I'll be back to try the RPG and more of their rotating sandwich specials for sure.

I am so thrilled that this place finally opened. From the team that curated the Columbia Room for years, and created this concept to keep the business afloat during the pandemic, Your Only Friend is the perfect combination of creative cuisine and comfort favorites. Perfect for both takeout and sit down. Paul is a sandwich master, spinning fast food faves into elevated experiences and creating new totally craveable favorites. Sherra is a cocktail and service queen. The cocktail program is also exceptional, also leaning hard into nostalgia while also delivering on a cohesive and delicious craft cocktail program. But make sure that you look up! You can't miss the Duke's Mayo Sistine Chapel. It really ties the room together.
