My review is based solely on the CUSTOMER SERVICE. I noticed that two male employees did not greet me when I entered the store. Basic customer service skills dictate that employees should greet customers upon arrival. When I brought this to their attention, they explained that they were engaged in a conversation. However, they could have taken a moment to acknowledge me before continuing their conversation. Yes I know I am beautiful, but it only takes a moment to SPEAK!Additionally, the store was quite empty, which made me think that they were expecting inventory. I believe that it is important for employees to acknowledge customers, regardless of their gender. When I expressed this sentiment to the employees, they laughed, which I found unprofessional and disappointing. UGH!

World Wine and Spirits is one of the beloved wine and spirit shops in Hill East. It's right on Pennsylvania Ave SE right before you go over the bridge into Fairlawn. It's the corner of a block of row homes and is pretty small, but they have a great stock of wines and spirits. They have all the basics for a decent price and on at times, they bring in people to do wine tastings.The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a true neighborhood shop!

Outstanding customer service and selection at World Wine and Spirits. I heard about them from a friend and I come from Virginia for my spirits here. They have a rare selection of spirits, something definitely unique and well thought of...you have to see it to understand but they are a craft speciality store that has bottles that you normally don't see or are sold out. This is my go-to, thank you guys - 5 Stars.

Great liquor store. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. With a combination of a great selection in ciders, beers, liquor, a very clean shop, and growler refills it's the best place to shop in the area. They run pricey at times, but it's worth it.

World may have the best selection of beer on the Hill. And even then the owner was asking whether there was anything else he should carry. Can't speak to the wine selection but definitely worth a visit.

Complete scumbags, I ordered a simple order of two specific bottles of wine on Uber Eats, I forgot to select the option that cancels the order if they don't have the item in stock but almost every time this has happened with another merchant they call to ask if I have a preferred substitute, mind you this is mid afternoon on a week day not exactly rush hour. When the Uber driver came and it wasn't remotely close to what I had ordered, I called to double-check that it wasn't a mix up and they said they didn't have it in stock, when I asked if there was a reason that they didn't call me the person I spoke with said that they had, which was a blatant lie.Two weeks later I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and give it one more try via Uber Eats, boy was that a bad choice. This time I selected the cancel if they don't have what I was looking for option. To my surprise my Uber Eats driver showed up with the wrong wine AGAIN, and it was a cheaper type of wine, I checked the order and they hadn't made a substitute, literally stealing from me. I refused the order because I wasn't going to drink the wine that they "substituted" which wasn't remotely close to what I had ordered. I was shocked when I checked my Uber Account 5 days later and I was charged a $15 restocking fee by these clowns. Honestly, I like giving business to the small local guys, but these guys are straight up dishonest. AVOID.

I love this place, hands down. My story...I ordered some wine and alcohol through the Drizly app. The store calls me to tell me they didn't have that particular size in stock. Ok, cool. They get me a different size and offer to refund me the cost difference since the size was smaller. It was five bucks. I never got the refund and honestly, I completely forgot. I ordered something again today. Drizly once again offered a size that they didn't carry. I ordered it. They called. I ultimately just cancelled. I figured, fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me! The store manager calls me himself to rectify things. I told him about my last experience and he was like, OH NO!! THAT'S NOT HOW WE DO BUSINESS! He personally delivers what I ordered and hands me the money from last time. This is the basics of honest, good customer service. It's not a big deal but it's enough to put a bad taste in someone's mouth. This manager went above and beyond and they earned a customer for a very long time. Thanks guys!

Pros: Beer on tap by the liter. Ultra clean & orderly for a liquor store. Staff know the majority of their customers on a more personal level. Cons: Wines are a bit over-priced. Parking can be an issue.

Best beer selection in Capitol Hill. Growler fills are top notch, only 64oz. Liquor prices are also the best on the Hill.

I had been going to World Liquors prior to their renovation and it was a very satisfactory experience. They carried basically everything I typically wanted and prices were reasonable and it was convenient to the neighborhood. Following the renovation, however, it has become my absolute go to place to buy beer. The owner/manager is very friendly and happy to talk about new beers he might get in or even special order (I had mentioned a seasonal release called Hopslam to him several weeks ago and sure enough there were some 6 packs out this weekend). The store looks great as well and seems to bring a new vibe to that corner of the area. It's not the closest store to my house but it is definitely a place I will continue to support as much as I can going forward.
