This is the new location to the Silver Spring/ Langley Park restaurant that I adored for their buffet. The space there was small, and this one is newly updated and spacious, with beautiful decor. It feels like a better place for a romantic or more upscale dining experience! Fancy location in an office building for business meetings, too?Anyhow, why go here? Because it's chock full of all the most delicious items of Indian fare that you crave. They have dosai, curries, street snacks like iddly and puri and chaat, uthappam, and special rice dishes. The cool part about this restaurant is that all of the food is vegetarian. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and can help you figure out the food restrictions in the menu items. I love all the food, but I always veer towards one dish in particular for my appetizer: the palak chaat. It is delightful with the crunch of the deep fried spinach and the tang of the tamarind, onions and fresh tomatoes on top. It really is a fancy version of this dish here at Woodlands. I love it!The entree I always order is the aloo gobi with beautiful pieces of spiced cauliflower and potatoes, or the vegetable jalfrezi with the wonderful spicy tomato based sauce on the veggies. Their rice is always fluffy and perfect for accompanying the rich curry dishes. The service is excellent, as they check on you regularly, and again, very knowledgeable. The food comes out very quickly, which is great for hungry bellies. There are so many dishes here, and I really need to gravitate away from my staples, but it's hard when you love some dishes to try others!Parking is easy, but the location is a little confusing near an intersection but in the ground floor of an office building.

While the ambiance at woodlands was quite pleasant, the dining experience was somewhat disappointing. Tried their Thali and the food, though decent, lacked the flavor punch we were expecting. The service was painfully slow, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Unfortunately, the prices seemed disproportionate to the quality and service provided.

This spot is vegetarian but that's more of a benefit than anything. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. The portions are huge and flavors tasted like home. We started with the palak chaat and shared the crispy giant dosa and the channa bhatura. Highly recommend each of these! With regard to service, my water never went any lower than half full.

Great selection of vegetarian Indian foods. I have been to their other locations, this one keeps the quality as well. They also serve alcoholic beverages unlike their other locations. Beautiful ambience, very cultural. Highly recommend if you want authentic Indian food with vegan/vegetarian/anti-inflammatory/no onion-garlic options.

Keep in mind I am critical of Indian restaurants since I've had it all my life. Came here since many told me it's a legitimate Indian restaurant serving authentic food. Woodlands serves mostly South Indian food. Even though some North Indian dishes are available like Chana (chickpeas), it doesn't taste how it should be. So, I suggest getting South Indian dishes here. I got the Mysore Masala Dosa. I wanted it spicy, but the waitress kept telling me to get it regular. I found the regular to be not spicy enough. The dosa was nice and crispy. However, I wish the chutneys had more spices/flavor and less salt. The potato filling was very bland and it was all stuck together as if someone took frozen potatoes, heated it a little, and stuck it in the dosa. It was very hard and chunky in a bad way. I never encountered a dosa filling like that before. My friend got the Royal Thali. I tried bites of all the dishes on it. The dessert/kheer was terrible. I am used to it being thick and this was soupy and watery with not much cardamom flavor at all. Some of the vegetable dishes were decent, but most seemed forgettable. Their mango lassi was good, but honestly that is hard to mess up. The interior is aesthetically pleasing with nice Indian decor.Overall, I had very high expectations for this place. I thought this would've been the best dosa and South Indian food in the DMV. But, I've had better dosa and all at small local restaurants by me. I may be biased because I am used to North Indian flavors and just lots of flavor, but then again, I've had incredible more flavorful dosa, chutneys, and other South Indian dishes elsewhere in the area. Worth the hype? Not to me. And don't get me started on the samosa that was not how it should be.

A great 100% vegetarian Indian restaurant in Gaithersburg serving mostly South Indian fare (they also have Indo-Chinese and North Indian choices).I ordered the Poori Bahji. It was a giant fried puffy bread served with a spicy chickpea and potato stew. The bread came out hot and chewy, and still very light (and not oily). It was dipped in the stew, which was very spicy and flavorful (without being heavy). My companion had a mysore masala dosa. It was crispy and in a triangle shape. The inside of the dosa was coated in a very spicy sauce, and stuffed with potatoes and onions. Several savory and spicy chutneys came with it. Will recommend to anyone (don't need to be a vegetarian to enjoy)!

Gracious service in a beautiful and relaxed setting...we had a delicious meal: vegetable samosas, vegetable biryani and an aloo mutter (potatoes and peas) curry, as well as mango lassi and Indian tea (chai). The serving sizes are generous and we took home the biryani to enjoy the next day. Parking was pretty easy, as it is in a fairly large shopping and office complex, near Quince Orchard and Clipper Mill Roads. I love this is a vegetarian restaurant and look forward ti trying more dishes...

This Labor Day weekend, on Sunday we (3 of us) went for lunch with the same expectations of eating at their Tacoma Park Restaurant 2 years back. After waiting for 20 minutes to be seated in a much open space, we ordered the following items:Medhu VadaVegetable Uttapam Pongal & Mysore ThaliWe were disappointed by the bland taste of uttapam, pongal, sambar and coconut chutney. Medhu Vada was not fluffy and soft. Only Coconut chutney is served for both the Medhu Vada and Uttapam at this new location, while at Tacoma Park, we had atleast two other chutneys served. The sambar was diluted with hardly a taste of tadka with curry leaves etc. Finally, the rasam served with the Thali was just like a flavored water with turmeric and a taste of tamarind. I understand, these restaurants cater to the western culture, but it was fully occupied by patrons of Indian subcontinent. So, what I don't appreciate is serving the same mild and bland items to patrons like us.Service was timely, no complains about it. But for sure, the food quality and taste can be brought back to the original. Management should look into this matter with urgency and make amends immediately.

Gobi munchuria overpriced and under rated as it was nothing we could say was special about. Not sure why they are charging 17.95 for an appetizer which was bland, full of ketchup and not at all tasty. We had to even ask the server to get fresh onions and green chilli as it was hardly touching our taste buds !! Our noodles arrived over cooked and burnt. The server offered us a new bowl of noodles right away which we felt was not upto the mark either. The shocker was the spring rolls which were just like the rolls that we could buy frozen from Costco. Please do not eat indo-Chinese ever at this place. The fault was ours to try and risk this at a South Indian restaurant. Thoroughly disappointed!!
