After 20+ years...I returned to this restaurant I was little torn about how to rate this restaurant. Woodlands is a full vegetarian restaurant that has been around for many years. They definitely have dedicated customers that frequent the place. The restaurant itself is very large and open, but looks very dated on the inside. There is a lot of interesting decoration. Beautiful artwork on the walls, then random mismatching (fake?) plants and flowers around the the restaurant. There are real flowers at the entrance of the restaurant. The hallway to the bathroom looks very questionable and reeks of bleach, the bathroom as well. The only new and stylish decoration were the gorgeous chandeliers. We arrived a little before 11:30 and they were playing religious songs for over an hour. We asked if they have any Sitara, classical, instrumental type songs, and they said they can change it; they were adamant they don't play Bollywood songs, which we said was fine haha! The menu is very extensive and so big (physically)!! I tried to take pictures but it was hard haha. Just at first glance, everything was priced reasonably. They had so much variety. There were various curries either alone or with a thali option. The person who seated us was nice but didn't seem to understand us when we were placing the order, we were afraid we might get the wrong food. I originally wanted to get the mutter paneer thali, but didn't think I can eat it all, so I chose the Butter Masala Dosa. The potatoes were lacking flavor, but honestly, by far has been my favorite out of all the places I've been to... and only because they didn't use lentils, which ruins the texture. The chutneys were good, my favorite was the peanut one. I would definitely return to try other dishes, or maybe just order the butter masala dosa again. I'm giving 3 stars because of the atmosphere and the confusing ordering process. Also because of the violations listed on the Yelp app -_-

Pretty bland food, not tasty or anything worth writing about. Service was mediocre, no smiles or effort to be friendly.

My go to Indian restaurant. Reasonably priced, flavorful food and never disappoints. Traditional southern Indian food with many North Indian options. Service is excellent. Ambiance is always reverberating with devotional and calming Carnatic classical music. Always a satiated after I eat here.

I came here on a Saturday evening with my family. It wasn't packed so we were able to get seated at our choice of table. Food: For appetizers, we ordered medhu vada, spring rolls, and mango lassi. The medhu vada tasted really good, especially because there weren't too many whole black peppercorns inside. The Spring rolls were okay - crispy on the outside, but lukewarm on the inside. For the main, we had 2 masala dosa, and 1 pudhina roast masala dosa, which I had asked to add cheese to. Masala dosa were great, but I didn't like the taste of the pudhina roast, so I will not be ordering that again. Furthermore, upon looking inside the pudhina, the cheese I had asked for was not there. The peanut chutney this time was a little bit too strong on the garlic. All the dosas stuck to the plates they use, and we had to scrape the dosa off the plate. When doing this, there is a potential risk of scraping off the material of the plate, which can pose a health concern. Service: The staff are super friendly and professional. However, when I brought up with our server that there was no cheese in the phudhina roast dosa, the server said "I told them to add it." I had to ask the server to remove the extra $2 from the bill for the cheese. Suggestion to management: empower staff to be able to offer solutions instead of shifting responsibility. Ambiance: The restaurant has a not so modern look, but they have beautiful photo frames of key landmarks from India displayed. They also play subtle traditional South India music at a low volume, which adds a meaningful cultural experience while dining.

I decided to test a theory about 3.5 star reviews being the sweet spot for international spots in the area, and boy did it pay off! The service was ok, the atmosphere was sparse, but they completely made up for it with the food. This is not a westernized version of Indian food. The menu is vast and the selection is from across India and some beyond! As usual we went a little crazy with our order, and of course I was so busy stuffing my face that I forgot to take pictures. We ordered mango lassis, idly and medhu vada appetizers, chana masala thali, kadi paneer thali and sarson sa kaag a la carte. The waitress didn't ask about heat level so I imagine we got medium on everything. Not a thing we ordered was bad. All of the adds that came with the thali were tasty, the naan was soft and the papadums were crispy. I will definitely be coming back

Ambiance: looks like a typical South Indian breakfast place in India. Nothing fancy. I liked the vibe with retro Hindi songs playing and the servers were very helpful. We arrived 30min before the restaurant closing time, despite that they catered to our order quickly.Food:We had Onion chilli masala dosa(we requested to remove the chilies ), Poori Chole, Utappam, cut mirchi to dine in and we got veg biryani and paneer chilli to go.All the breakfast items were yummy. Dosa was the best. Cut mirchi was very good. Also, they happily gave us refills of chutneys whenever asked.Veg biryani was okay. And so was paneer chilli.

I was skeptical. But this food is delicious! I had the veg-samosa as an appetizer and gobi 65 as my main dish. The samosa was delicious as usual! The gobi 65 was Ah-mazing!!! It was crunchy, cauliflower was tender and the spice was perfect!! It was served with naan. There was a bit of a language barrier, but was friendly and tried to answer our questions best she could. If you are feeling adventurous, try it out!!

Food was alright. My friend took me to try to peanut chutney with the Indian crepe called dosa. Had to admit was pretty tasty. Then I found a hair literally cooked into the food. I told the waiter and he asked what food I wanted in exchange for it. I said I didn't want anything because that kinda makes you lose your appetite. So asks my friend if he wants dessert but we were both were finished at that point. We didn't get a refund or a discount. Even though there was a hair unmistakably cooked into our food. Food might taste alright but just be careful before you bite.
