Great location near the King Street metro with lots of outdoor seating. They have a fantastic happy hour (M-F 3-6pm ) bar menu filled with delicious options and enough for a meal for $10. Fish and chips, calamari, nachos. We ordered drinks and 2 dozen $1 oysters as well! $1 oysters are offered every 3rd Monday of the month. Our server Kevin was great!

I thought it was okay. The oysters Rockefeller were the highlight and were amazing. No edits there. The Connecticut lobster roll was very good but the sidewinder fries are not it. They could definitely use a lil' sprucing up. They were hot but just no flavor to them at all. The lobster Mac and cheese looked really good and I was told it's even better the next day! I don't think I'll have an urge to go back but a solid food outing with great company

Tara and I attended the Galentine's Party at Whiskey & Oyster. Reservations were encouraged. Each table had a 2-hour dining limit. Upon entry, we were greeted with goodie bags that contained sunglasses, scrunchy, and chocolate. They had a vendor selling permanent bracelets to benefit a good cause and a photobooth. They had two menu available - Galentine Day Brunch Menu and Regular Menu. Neither of us opted in for their Mimosa and Mocktail Bar. Tara enjoyed her hot coffee, Triple Cherry Manhattan, and Eggs Benedict with Cheesy Grits. I had the $7.95 Wild Blueberry Green Tea (which tasted like a regular iced tea but twice the price) and $19.95 Maine Lobster Omelette with Chef's Potatoes. The omelette didn't have much taste and barely had any lobster in it. The Chef's Potatoes were the highlight on the dish! They were seasoned with salt and pepper and finished with parmesan.

Was looking for somewhere different. The perfect combo, whiskey and oysters. The ambience of this spot is chilled, lots of space with good music in the background. Our servers knew his stuff, provided good feedback on selection while making jokes at the same time. Let's talk food, everything was delicious. A few must haves. It's an oyster so of course the Oysters Rockefeller (you will order more) and the Grilled Oysters (my favorite chipotle bourbon). The Peel and eat shrimp outstanding. The Crispy Duck Spring Roll was good also if you're into duck. Main dish both on point, the Lobster Grilled Cheese (brings out the kid in any adult) and Connecticut lobster roll. This place is definitely one of my favorites and yes I will return.

My best friend and I took our toddlers with us on a mommy date to Alexandria. I'm familiar with the area and had a craving for oysters. We chose this location because the atmosphere was friendly and they had a kids menu. Bestie and i started off with some drinks (Love Potion and Painkiller) an order of crab dip, and a half dozen Blue Point Oysters along with another half dozen of James River oysters. I prefer a smaller sized oyster so the Blue Points became my favorite. The girls had grilled cheeses and fries. Our next round was Blue Point and Chincoteague. For our entrees we had the seared scallops and the blackened salmon. We couldn't resist getting one more round of Chinoteagues before we left! So good!

A way to a woman's heart is through her stomach. I think that's how the saying goes.Whiskey & Oyster! Whoa! My significant other did it again! I over dressed so we tried to find dinner at MGM with no luck, three strikes and we were out, literally. Out of nowhere, my babe said I know where we are going, and off we went to Whiskey and Oyster. I'm sure glad we did! The pictures speak for themselves. Oysters Rockefeller were a hit! Really good! I ate mine and usually if I'm not a fan I'll eat one and be done. Not this time! My pasta dish was the best. I typically do not finish my meals but my clean plate was a testimony for this dish! It was so good this girl almost spoke in tongues on a Saturday. His lobster was too pretty, towards the end he offered a bite. That's his testimony of goodness because he usually shares right away. The drinks... My summer peach was fantastic! I usually don't go for seconds but my babe knew it was a hit and didn't ask he just ordered me another one. He loved his drink. He's a Manhattan guy so that was his pick! Overall this little gem is going to have to be put in my DMV fave bookmarks. Service was great! The hostess was a bit out of it but our server made up for it. No manager presence but it's only rated two dollar symbols so the expectation wasn't there for me for this place. (3 money symbols and yes I want to see a manager, it's proper etiquette) Overall, good, good! Quality food for a reasonable price. For that reason 5 stars! Ambiance is great! We sat outside with this nice weather! Perfect weather for outside dining in July.

I was visiting Alexandria from out of town and we came here for dinner with friends. I really liked the menu which had a southern/ Cajun flare. It so happened to be lobster day coincidentally (who know), so they were running a special for buy one get one lobster roll 1/3 off. Given the proximity to Maryland, they also had a decent amount of crab on the menu, which I was happy about. For starters, we ordered calamari and Kung pao cauliflower. The cauliflower came with sweet chili sauce and was pretty good (but not at all healthy lol). The calamari was also one of the better things we ordered. The plate was enough for 4 people to share and came with a red sauce. For our mains, we ordered lobster rolls, the seafood Alexander pasta (with chicken instead) and I ordered the crab cakes which came with 2 sides.Overall, the consensus was that the apps were better than the mains. I ordered my crab cakes with asparagus and "sidewinder fries". I never had sidewinder fries before so that was new. They're like a cross between wedges and curly fries. The asparagus was tasty and nicely seasoned. I didn't really care for the mustard based sauce on the crab cakes but I appreciated that the crab cakes were nicely stuffed and the portion was good. It tasted fresh but something about the seasoning wasn't all there. The guys said the lobster roll was a bit small and the bread was just so so (bread can def make or break a lobster roll). The pasta was good but they apparently they charge a fee to substitute chicken (seems weird since chicken is cheaper but oh well). The service was attentive but a bit interesting. When we were first seated the hostess wanted to seat us in a back corner outside even though there was no one outside. We asked to be seated at a less isolated table. The waiter also seemed like he'd been smoking a bit lol. But no complaints on the speed of the service. Once we were seated and they took our orders, the food came very quickly.Overall, I probably would not return here even though the prices were very reasonable and service was fast. The food just wasn't all that.

I'm giving a 3 star because some of the food was cold after waiting for a long time to receive our food. The waitress said the restaurant was backed up even though there was hardly no one in there.I ordered the 2 jumbo crab cakes which was not jumbo at all. The crab cakes were cold with hot fries. I couldn't really enjoy my crab cakes because of it being cold but it's was tasty. I took home to heat up. The she crab soup was delicious and hot. The oyster Rockefeller was good also. I order deviled eggs top with fried oysters and they were good. We also ordered shrimp and grits which was cold also.We ate inside I wish I would have chose outside seems like a better atmosphere. I may try again and sit outside.

I prefer to write positive reviews and celebrate the amazing servers, bartenders, and managers who create an environment that makes us want to return. However, that was not the case at Whiskey & Oyster. As new residents in the area, we encountered blatant racism for the first time. We visited Whiskey & Oysters this Friday evening for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender, Edward, was extremely rude and dismissive towards us. He ignored us for most of the evening, never introduced himself, and hardly communicated with us, unlike how he interacted with the other Caucasian patrons at the bar. We had to repeatedly try to get his attention for drink refills. Another minority woman sitting a few chairs down from us reported experiencing the same disrespectful behavior. While I'd like to discuss the food, I can't because Edward's racist treatment made our Friday night extraordinarily unpleasant and distressing. He offered samples to others, laughed, and engaged in small talk, while we were consistently ignored when we tried to get his attention.I wish we had sat at the other end of the bar, where Norman was bartending. Norman noticed our discomfort and came over to check on us. He refilled our waters and asked how our evening was going--nothing like Edward's behavior. To make matters worse, the manager's response was just as dismissive and careless. After we paid our bill (despite our negative experience) and tipped Norman to ensure he was rewarded for his excellent service, we shared our experience with Josh, the manager. His only response was, "I don't know what to say; I've never heard this before." Norman should definitely be the manager, while Josh needs to undergo significant management training.I drove home in tears, distraught by the treatment we received at this establishment. I will be sending a direct email to the family-owned HomeGrown Restaurant Group and the owners, Mike and Donna Anderson, as I believe they should know how some of their employees treat their neighbors. We will never return, and I strongly suggest you don't go either.

I will start off by saying my boyfriend and I have been to the restaurant waaay too many times to count (honestly maybe over 40 times) and we just love the cooked oysters! This place has probably turned us onto oysters as a whole (raw and cooked) and we have tried multiple places but I can say these oysters are the best by far!We usually get our favorites which are Sweet Thai Chili and Chipotle Bourbon, they come out piping hot and are always enjoyable, if you havent tried them by now you definitely should add them to your list. We also trued the Cider mussels -- not too much to write home about but if you are into spicy I would recommend the spicy broth mussels, much more tasty. We visited here about a week ago and this review is well overdue but I just had to recommend them so here it is.
