Waraku is a Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant, that recently opened up in the Twinbrook shopping plaza. Their menu is extensive, offering soups, salad, various appetizers, handrolls, maki, house specialty rolls, ramen, bento boxes, poke, and lunch specials.A group of us came here for a later lunch, and we started off with the Fish Tempura (the fish was flake-y, and the tempura batter was light and crisp; it was great with the drizzle of the teriyaki-like sauce on top), and the Sex Jalapeno (spicy jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese, seaweed salad, spicy tuna, and the chef's special sauce; I don't think any of the seeds were taken out, as this was super spicy! It was still tasty, though!). I chose the 'Two Roll Lunch Special,' a spicy tuna and a spicy salmon. Both had a nice rice to filling ratio, with more of the fish rather than the rice. With our entrees, you receive a bowl of miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing. The miso soup is watered down, and I was not a fan. The salad, however, was fresh and crisp, and I enjoyed the flavorful ginger dressing! Our server was nice, but there was a slight language barrier. The chef eventually came out to confirm some of our requests, and he was very sweet! We also didn't get our waters refilled often, and you have to request ice if you want your drinks cold.I'd love to try out their chef's specialty rolls the next time, and maybe try out their Thai options as well. This is definitely one of the better sushi options in the Fairfax area, and I hope they continue to be consistent!+lunch specials daily+Fish Tempura+Sex Jalapeno+friendly staff+located in the Twinbrook plaza+plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot

We've been going to Waraku for more than 6 years and we've always loved the food. However, today we had a pretty unpleasant experience that left a bad taste in our mouth. The service was subpar. The server had an earbud on and didn't get our orders right. The worst part about it, they overcharged us with the items that we ordered. As soon as we caught the price difference in our check, we asked for the menu and immediately the server mentioned that the menu is old. Clearly, she knew why we asked for the menu again. We told them that we wouldn't mind if the prices changed, but it was not proper business etiquette that they did not give us a heads up. I don't think we'll be going back.

Their take out is bomb. I love ordering yellowtail maki style dipped into the spicy mayo. Their edamame always goes well with the sushi. I love how big the rolls are too!

We had Uber eats pickup of a bbq eel poke bowl and steak teriyaki. Great to get a free edamame and plenty of seaweed salad. However, the quality just isn't there especially for close to $50. Dining out after the pandemic has gotten worse so lower your expectations.

Recently stopped here for a bite before a concert. While here I got the calamari appetizer which came out the same time as the seafood ramen with spicy miso broth I'd ordered as well.Though the seafood was good and fresh, the broth lacked spice...or spicy. I asked for sriracha sauce. They had none but did have chili paste? *shrugs* it did the job. The calamari on the other hand was great. Crispy and fresh! It came with a side of amazing sauce. Using the yelp app I noticed a check in offer but, was informed that they didn't have it. They gave some bogus answer about why it wasn't being offered. How about just take it down? Otherwise, service was slow.

Delicious sushi, great for vegetarians! With copious sushi options in Fairfax, I'm glad I went with Waraku sushi on UberEats. The 5 piece Mixed Vegetable Roll was really tasty with seaweed, avocado, cucumber, and a couple of other veggies. The 8 piece Sweet Potato Roll with sweet eel sauce (vegetarian!) and the crunchy 8 piece Peanut Avocado Roll were also tasty albeit the avocado was a bit under ripe. The sticky rice was spot on. Hubby enjoyed the Avocado Salmon and Spicy Tuna, the salmon didn't taste the freshest though. Will def order the Mixed Vegetable and the Sweet Potato roll again!

I enjoyed my potstickers and pad Thai. My husband could not eat his spicy tuna. Took one bite and said it left a horrible taste in his mouth. He threw it out.

I will never come here again. Food was terrible, rice was dried, seaweed salad had tasted like it was getting bad. Didn't have chopsticks, miso soup was even off. I ordered the most basic and simple things and that wasn't right at all. California roll, seaweed salad and a miso soup. I definitely don't recommend this place at all even for a fast bite. Waste of money and also I see why I was the only customer. Even when I walked in they was confused and I'm confused on why I sat down when I felt the energy.

The chicken teriyaki was like a microwaved frozen meal. Some of the worst I've had. They also got the order wrong and we had to wait an extra half hour. It's definitely not authentic Japanese or even typical Japanese food. Will not be visiting again.

Ordered food for pick up. I got the Chicken Teriyaki for $23. Chicken was soggy and it tastes like it was microwaved or boiled. Meal tastes like something you microwave out of the freezer. Vegetables were also under cooked. Chicken was slimy and probably is processed from a frozen bag. Miso soup was undrinkable and tasted like hot dog water, I imagine.
