Wagshal's Market

This is a unique market but is a bit crowded with inventory since the market is small. Produce has always been fresh! It is not a place I would frequent too often as prices are high compared to a traditional grocery store. Great option in a pinch!

If you live in Spring Valley or AU Park, this is a wonderful little market to visit. It has nice produce, meat / seafood counters, and great assortment of indulgent cakes and other pastries. Yes, you could always go to the nearby Safeway or Giant for cheaper groceries. But the friendliness of staff makes this market extra special and the ease of parking makes the trip worth it. For hot bar food and other pantry staples, you can also hop over to the deli market which is 2-3 doors down. They have great assortment of bread, bbq sandwiches, and other good yums.

Gone downhill in selection and uphill on pricing. $3.55 for a Can of Dr. Browns soda, warm - fridge was down. That's not the only thing that's down here. The quality is never good, the food bar is a healthy hazard. Avoid.

DREDFUL!Dried out empanadas that taste more like Mexican food than Spanish -no raisins (a classic ingredient). I requested it hot yet it was cold inside. The tough stale dried out pastry was a sincere disappointment. Asian Sesame Noodle Salad has so much soy sauce & salt , that made it inedible; and I like salty food. Also drenched in oil. - This was really bad $5.99 wasted. $14.99 Tuna sandwiches. All in all, this place is a no go.

decent selection of meat and fresh veggies, on the expensive side though. purchased a couple of a5 steaks, overall quality was decent but one tenderloin was much higher quality than the other (much less even marbling) which was unfortunate given they're all priced the same per lb. Would return though

I was very disappointed with the prepared foods that I purchased for my family this holiday. The prepared beef brisket was bland and soaked in thick, unseasoned gravy. One package that serves 1 - 2 people was also $32 and not worth that at all since it tasted like hospital cafeteria meat. I also bought curried deviled eggs that were very bland and blah. Please do NOT buy these!! The final disappointment was the empanadas and look nice, but also have minimal flavor. This was my first time purchasing their prepared foods and I will not make this mistake again. Thankfully, other items purchased from other stores saved my holiday. The only thing that was tasty was the decorated sugar cookies that were good.

A good reliable for quality fruit veggies and meat . Meat is very good and nicely cut especially if you give own instructions, Slightly high priced but worth it .

To start off my blueberry muffin had only 2 blueberries, and the people, white locals seemed startled, and uncomfterble by my very afro latina appearence in thier deli. Although the hispanic worker at the register was very nice to me, the white owner or manager called over to him to see if he needed assistance, the deli had only one other cutstomer. I was at the register still trying to figure out what my boyfriend, who was on the phone with me, and I wanted to eat. The register had all the muffins, and baked goods. This was the most uncomfrorble, and rascist expeirence I ever had. Mind you, I am very light skinned, with big curly hair, but have dark features. My black and brown people do not buy from here, stop giving rascist companies, and neighborhoods our money. I came to this area to accompany my boyfriend to an appointment, never again.

Went to Wagshal's to buy a filet and ground beef burgers. Service was. Impeccable and all staff were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and try their scrumptious looking desserts!!

They charge you for the fat trimmed off of your steaks. No, seriously. Ordered two filets, they said "we weigh the steak in roast form and don't cut steaks." ???? At $45/pound you can't cut a steak? Then the clown behind the counter said "I'll cut you a break and we'll trim it this time", which was a lie. Paid $92 for 1 pound worth of steaks after trimming. Go to Morton's and at least have them cook it for you. I'll deal with trash customer service and outrageous prices because DC is DC, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. You guys are garbage and I'll never be back. Butcher's Alley in Bethesda is a better option and is $10/pound less.
