I discovered Un Je ne sais quoi bakery quite by chance. While in DuPont Circle, I sought a refreshing drink and was drawn to this bustling establishment, which piqued my interest due to its numerous patrons.Upon entering, one is immediately enveloped by the delightful aroma of sweet, buttery baked goods. The bakery offers a diverse selection of French pastries, unique loaves of bread, jams imported from France, as well as coffee and fruit juices. The limited seating area often results in a lengthy queue. A fellow customer advised me to arrive early, as they tend to sell out by early afternoon. When my turn finally arrived, only a lemon panna cotta remained. Embracing the moment, I indulged in it. My verdict? Absolutely extraordinary! The panna cotta boasts a light, airy texture with a subtly sweet flavor. My curiosity compelled me to return the following morning. This time, I opted for a box of assorted treats. As I savored each bite, I found myself in sheer bliss, my eyes rolling back in delight. Their desserts are light and pleasantly sweet, distinctly different from the overly sugary offerings found in grocery stores, allowing each ingredient to shine through. The flavors are so delicate that they gently caress the palate.I wholeheartedly recommend this remarkable bakery. You will not be disappointed. I make it a point to support this establishment whenever possible, as I wish for it to thrive indefinitely. We are fortunate to have such a gem in our community. Hurry there without delay!

The line was out the door, but we were willing to sit outside in 40 degree weather with the wind blowing tears from my friend's eyes to get a taste of the mouthwatering confections fresh from this patisserie! Despite a long line, I waited maybe 5 minutes to order my cream puff (words CANNOT describe this perfect combination of flaky choux pastry, custard, and whipped cream) and chai latte! Wow! Best chai latte I've had in DC! I also purchased some blackberry jam and hazelnut butter to recreate a favorite treat! The only thing I wouldn't recommend: DON'T eat the puff in public. It is messy but so worth it!

I absolutely adore this place! This is one of my favorite places to go for a sweet treat (they also have delicious savory options). The stuffed croissants are so amazing and are better than anything you'd try at a regular bakery. The pistachio and almonds flavors are my go-to items, along with a bag of chouquettes (just do it, it's too good). Most people go for the chocolate ones and those are good but I think you'd find a new favorite with the other ones I listed. I think their coffee based items could be a bit better because the espresso seems a bit burnt sometimes but that 100% does not subtract from the rating because the pastries are just that good. The line can get pretty long sometimes and it's a small location so sometimes you wait outside but the staff is really efficient and quick so you're never waiting for long. If there isn't seating and it's a nice day, I like to take my items across the street to the dupont circle park.

This bakery is so French. It's super tiny, but has lots of seating and tons of incredible desserts on display. The cute anthropomorphic deer is super nostalgic to the 2010s in a very charming way. It's a cozy shop with lots of things to pick from. We came on a weekend, so this is probably part of why it was super packed. We ordered two pain au chocolats and some coffee.I got a very delicious cafe mocha. I wish I had known the small was extremely small, that was my fault. The drink was half a takeout cup's worth of coffee. I would've ordered a bigger size, it was so good. I was a bit disappointed by the pain au chocolats, they were a bit drier than I had hoped for, but still good. I'm excited to return and try more goodies.

This is one of my favorite bakeries in DC! Mostly for their croissants, which are to die for. But I've tried a lot of other desserts over the years, like pistachio Paris Brest, fruit tarts and cakes and everything has been consistently delightful! It is a real French bakery which means the desserts are just the right amount of sweetness/not too sweet. They have wonderful bistro tables outside that you can sit at when you want to pretend you are in Europe and have your morning coffee and croissant!

This is a really tiny and busy spot! I certainly did not expect that 10 minutes after opening, all of the tables would be full and a line would be forming out the door. I certainly understand the hype.Service was quick and efficient. Everyone was friendly and all of the pastries were presented in a basket, which was cute. We sat outside with it, along with my cappuccino, and it certainly reminded me a bit of the cafe culture in Europe. While the pain au chocolat may not have been the flakiest or best I've had in my life, the banana coffee croissant blew me away. I didn't realize this flavor combination could go so well together! There was a craquelin-like topping on top as well, which made it extra crunchy! The apple tart was also flaky and delicious.I feel like European-style bakeries this good are hard to come by. This might be my new favorite spot in Dupont!

I went to this place a few times in a week when I was dropping my son off at camp in Bethesda this summer. The coffees are delicious and the pastries are light with amazing dough texture. Recently I got a galette de roi from this place and we were hooked on the pastry/almond paste confection. Formidable!!!

This cute French pastry shop in downtown is a must-visit--you can smell the freshly baked croissants and bread from a mile away!! There isn't much seating inside so try to avoid busy times.Side rant: My visit left me feeling a bit disappointed though. Despite the rave reviews, the staff messed up my order. Their system seems a little disorganized; one person takes the order, while another picks out the pastries, and they mistakenly gave what I ordered to the people behind. They sell out quickly due to the high demand, which made it all the more frustrating. But the staff were very apologetic and offered us the chocolate croissant and panna cotta on the house, which totally redeemed the experience!Anyway, I'm still going to give it four stars because the croissant was freshly baked, buttery, and perfectly flaky, and the mango panna cotta was creamy and heavenly. If I ever return to DC, I'd definitely give this place another try!!

Feels like a trip to Paris! This French Dupont Circle patisserie is as authentic as it gets. Flaky, delectable croissants filled with delicious pistachio, praline, or chocolate. Spectacular meringue and seasonal pastries that are works of art. Amazing chestnut and meringue Buche du Noel at Christmas. Robust cappuccinos, beautiful china, and lovely decor. Indoor and outdoor seating, and less crowded on weekdays. My favorite place to treat myself.
