Truth DC 78

My very first visit to Truth was this past Saturday a little after 10pm. My sister and I went straight to the downstairs bar to order some food but the bartender said they don't serve food (wth?!). We were told that we could go upstairs to order crab cakes and come back down. So, we went upstairs to the cigar area but saw they had a party going on and were about to go back down before Kendra asked us how she could help. We asked her if we could get a crab cake so she clarified the food debacle and informed us that The Krab King would be there shortly but due to the party he would be setting up downstairs and she'd let us know when we could place our orders. In the meantime she set us up with a Grapefruit/Mint hookah and our drinks at the bar. Even though it felt like we waited forever for the food, it was well worth the wait for the juicy lemon pepper crab cake that had a delicious sauce on top along with Crab Mac and cheese. Between our walk from the front door to the bar then to the upstairs bar, every single employee greeted us and made us feel welcomed. **Just a heads up, they only take cash or cash app (not a huge deal for us) and they don't serve food. The ambiance is great, the crowd is mixed and they play great music. Everyone is very friendly and Kendra was very accommodating and attentive! We will definitely be back.

First time here as an industry regular on H St. Came here with coworkers after a shift and was told AFTER we purchased a hookah that there was a 3 person hookah maximum. On a Sunday, are people really expected to exacerbate their lungs to meet minimums despite there being NO ONE else in the establishment! WOW!!! Way to treat first and ONLY customers! Will not come back!Additionally, me working on the strip is completely unrelated to my experience as a PAYING customer. On the contrary my patronage and opinion should actually be held to a higher esteem due to me working on the same strip. Furthermore, management appears to be grossly negligent and struggles with taking accountability as they have approached me off of this forum to beg me to take this review down. And for the record, Nomad has taken responsibility for their poor service while this business blames the customer for exercising freedom of speech! Take note folks! Sad. Sad. Sad!

Best hospitality and service... Hands down!I had the pleasure of meeting the husband and wife owners and immediately shared with them how attentive and service driven everyone on their staff were.There wasn't a single person on staff from the door to, the DJ, to the Chef who didn't greet us and check in on us.It boasts with two stories and beautiful, comfortable seating upstairs in the Cigar lounge area. Showing the games on multiple televisions. I've NEVER been so eager to write a review, but this TEAM and establishment deserve it. Thank you for delivering quality service and going above and beyond.Definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Owing to very poor customer service that myself and my family received at Truth, I wish to air my complaints. We were unhappy with the staff's and manager attitude and the poor quality hookah. Firstly, the staff portrayed a large amount of incompetence and a bad accident towards customers. After being seated no one attended to us for over 10 minutes. We were actually forced to walk over to the bar to order drinks and hookah and finally get the attention of a server. Secondly, the service was extremely slow. What made matters worse was that after waiting 25 minutes for the hookah to be brought to our table, a staff member says only 3 people or less can smoke. We have visited many hookah lounges and never witnessed this 3 person limit. This is an example of poor training and communication. The staff should explain this before. Thirdly, our drinks finally come out and we ask for the bill and attempt to pay with credit card/debit and the server says to us only cash or cash app. Again poor communication and management. If you are only expecting this form of payment, this should be explained to customers prior to ordering. We ask to speak with a manager and the older women comes over with an attitude and basically threatens us to pay the bill and tells us to use the atm machine located in the back. Over all the hookah quality was poor and drinks were average. We will not return to this business. I would recommend visit the other hookah bars/lounges on Hst that have better hookah and customer service. For example Nomad, Red rocks, Elroy

It's Sunday night, we get off of work (at another restaurant) to have a drink and decompress. I wanted a whisky coke, but apparently they only had Johnny Walker black, for $13 a drink. Also, barely had any of the beer that was listed on the menu. Anyway, there's like 5 of us and we order hookah. Once the hookah is dropped off, we're told only 3 of us can smoke on it or we have to order another...are you serious(why didn't u inquire about whether or not we would all be smoking since u saw there were more than 3 people in the first place???)nah, you wait to drop it off and then tell us either we all can't smoke or we have to order another one. They claim this is the norm but there's at least 2 other hookah bars within 2 blocks that don't imply this 'rule', not have i ever heard of it anywhere else! I'm literally appalled at this point. Mind you, this place is empty right now. Be happy you have customers. Fast forward, we leave. Won't be back. Really sad considering not many places are open when some restaurants close and now this a place not to be visited again. They get 2 stars. 1 because it's kinda cute inside. The other because it's cool they offer a cigar lounge upstairs. The manager on duty did help and accommodate by allowing us to not buy 2 hookahs, i just think it's a ridiculous rule to begin with.

As a self-proclaimed hookah connoisseur, I have to say that I'm so excited to experience the opening of this new addition. This one stands out for many reasons... Number 1; the ambience is amazing! From decor, to vibe, to lighting to service - once you catch this vibe, you'll definitely feel it! 2; the Hookah is packed to perfection and I love their flavor selection! (try the Grapefruit Mint!!) 3; With a full bar and a cigar lounge upstairs, who wouldn't be excited to visit? This is the greatest addition to the H Street Corridor! Perfect for Date Night or an "after work" get together!!

The spot is cool. But the prices are freakin insane. Two crown apples is $37. Gratuity is already charged no matter your party size. This is not told to you from jump. No receipts. Servers are slow. Highly doubtful i will return.

This is the most sophisticated, laid-back and classy hookah bar I've been to so far! I really only have great things to say about this establishment. The service? Personable, attentive, professional but definitely has a family-like touch to it. Drinks? Will defff get you right. I personally don't smoke hookah like that but my fiancée does and she's recently been put onto Grapefruit-Mint by the business owner - who again, is super personable and friendly. She loves it. The ambience; grown and sexy. I'm a fan of this being a more sophisticated crowd. This is a cute date-night spot but also a great weekend turn up. We'll be back!

Jimmell was amazing, this place is open late and does hooka later than any other place. I told her to just get me a drink and it was amazing. They had super fun get to know you games and I loved it!

Great place. Good music, 2 floors, hookah, great bartender. Came for a birthday and was the best one. Good vibes all around. Can't ask for anything else.
