Melinda and EVERYONE at Trattoria Sorrento. I absolutely applaud the fantastic evening you prepared and executed for the Princeton Soccer Academy team and their parents and siblings. Everything was as I expected and more. The players had a nice table to be themselves, along with their coach, and the parents had the chance to socialize like they had not before. The food AND service were excellent!!! It was a special treat for me to meet Maria and her husband and shake hands with Giovanni. I'll be authoring much of this in a review for anyone else to see. You are assured that if I am anywhere near Bethesda in the future, I will return for yet another excellent experience.Take care!!!

My waitress Marianna was very sweet and knew the menu well and was very nice overall and gave good recommendations. The bruchetta garlic bread appetizer was delicious. The shrimp scampi al limone had really good succulent shrimp pieces but the pasta was okay, not as lemony as what I was anticipating tbh but it was still good. They don't have prices on their dessert menu. Overall I had a good experience and will come back.

We had a group of 6 for dinner on a Friday and they had no problem accomodating us. We ordered some appetizers and everyone enjoyed them - the specialty warm bruschetta was really interesting, and of course the fried mozzarella was delicious. There were a lot fo dishes picked by everyone around the table, and almost every plate was practically licked clean. Highlights were the gnochi, the pesto pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, and the shrimp risotto. Our server was attentive, friendly, and even other servers helped us out when we needed something extra. Decent prices of the wine, too.

The Schiaffoni was really very good! Ordered that for delivery with fettuccine Bolognese. However, the fettuccine Bolognese never arrived! The cannoli was also very good---three little cannolis.

Cozy traditional Italian restaurant with heaping family-style portions and red and white plaid tablecloths. Cordell Avenue is the new little Italy in Bethesda and lined up with Italian restaurants now and glad we ventured to Trattoria Sorrento. The fluffy warm complementary bread was delicious but didn't quite hold us over for the 45 min that it took for our entrees to arrive. The restaurant was busy, but didn't expect the long wait around the tail-end of dinner time around 7:30pm on Sat night. Will consider ordering an app next time! While the extensive 4 page menu can be overwhelming, I'm glad I picked the Ziti Siciliana loaded with baked eggplant, ziti, and plenty of ricotta and mozzarella cheese! I was stuffed 1/2 through the dish and enjoyed the rest for leftovers. The dish was a rare gem as it's hard to spot on a menu. My hubby thoroughly enjoyed the Red Snapper special indicated by a happy clean plate. Skip the Tiramisu! It was mushy, bland and tastes like it was dethawed. It looked deformed and the cream and the spongy layers are all blended in together. Had my toddler not enjoyed it, I would have sent it back to the kitchen. $9 for hands-down the WORST tiramisu. The cappuccino was tasty, and would have been nice to have it served with a couple of packets of sugar in the raw and a small house-made biscotti. It was a bit of a lost opportunity. Space is tight and the restaurant is best for couples and small groups. We had to squeeze our stroller at the back of the restaurant. The Ziti Siciliana was a hit and excited to try love to try the house-made pastas next time!

Trattoria Sorrento is the best Italian restaurant in Bethesda and serves the best pizza margarita in the Washington, DC metro area. The pasta dishes are an Italian food lover's delight, especially the succulent scampi al limone. And the wine list is varied enough for anyone's taste. The staff at Trattoria Sorrento is extremely friendly and responsive but the restaurant is small and is usually extremely crowded and loud by 6 PM, especially on weekends. To have a relaxed quiet meal, I recommend arriving soon after the 5 PM opening hour or not arriving until 8 PM.Parking is available at the garage right next door with some street parking on Cordell Avenue. Trattoria Sorrento is also within walking distance of the Bethesda METRO station on the Red Line.
