Had a great dinner here. Our server was the sweetest lady ever and she really made our dining experience that much more pleasant. My best friend and I initially came for happy hour. We ordered both the steamed and the fried shumai. Both of them were so good that we ordered another round. We also ordered the salt and pepper calamari, which had just a bit too much salt. It was still good, but we definitely needed a refill of our water glasses by the time we finished it. We also ordered edamame and planned to share a curry chicken katsu. The edamame was steamed perfectly and sprinkled with just a light amount of salt. My best friend loved the chicken katsu but I was not really a fan. Too many flavors going on in the curry, but the katsu lacked seasoning. Instead I ordered a couple of sushi rolls which were all pretty good.I probably would have walked right past this place had my best friend not recommended it. It was definitely a good decision on his part.

Best sushi happy hour anywhere in town. $1 per sushi piece selections is wide and some nigiri just up to $3-4 each. They also have a $3 izakaya appetizer menu with items that are great to share. Love eating them with some refreshing, malty Kirin Ichiban beer that's usually $3-$4 each! Friendly, swift service and easy walking distance from many bus stops and the U Street Corridor and metro station. What's not to love?

The sushi here was better than I thought it would be! A bit reluctant and unfamiliar with the business, I decided to take a chance and order a delivery from here while craving sushi on a Sunday night. I didn't realize so many of my normal go-to sushi spots were closed on Sunday evenings, and Toku had a nice range of apps, maki and specialty rolls to choose from. I ordered the Sunset Roll and the Lobster Roll. Of the two, the Sunset Roll (crab meat, crunch topped with seared salmons and drizzled with honey sauce) was by far my favorite, and a roll I'd order again. The Lobster Roll however was a little too big, cumbersome and a little saucy for my taste, but still pretty good. While I'm not 100% sold on the sushi, I'd probably give some of the other cooked dishes a shot. Overall though, two rolls filled me up and satisfied my hunger and sushi cravings.

Toku is the best sushi spot in DC, hands down. The prices are right, staff are great, and the sushi is incredible (great size, taste, and freshness). I've ordered over 60 times through Uber Eats these past couple of years. Highly recommend!

Came here for lunch so I was able to try their lunch special bento set. I usually love the bento/lunch set at a Japanese restaurant because you can get a little bit of meat dish, shumai, california roll, and choice of soup/salad. So, of course, that's what I got. The quality of the food wasn't that great compared to what I've had previously from other places. Nothing really special about the place or the food. The price was fair for the lunch special, but I can only imagine how much more it would cost for dinner. The california roll was not made with much quality in my opinion. The rice was coming apart and there was not much consistency with it. The teriyaki chicken was not bad but nothing special, really. It was slightly dry/touch but it was good enough to eat. At some point, I was downing the food with my miso soup. If you want a fair priced Japanese food for lunch, I'd say come here and get some. If you are looking for quality, you might want to try elsewhere.

Great value for money. Pretty prompt service on a Sunday. Not too busy.Really loved the tuna crunchy avocado cucumber salad (ask for a fork) and the $5 happy hour drinks. Chicken satay starter was ok. Coconut milk chicken soup was delicious and flavorful but the chicken it contained felt like a bit of an afterthought - like some bland chunks were thrown in there. The sushi we had (an unagi roll and Mexican spicy tuna roll) was great. Tofu panang curry also good. Our Sunday lunch for two comprised large chicken coconut soup, the tuna avocado appetizer, chicken satay appetizer, unagi sushi and spicy tuna sushi (6 pieces each), a tofu panang curry with rice which we shared, two HH cocktails, a mochi cream dessert and a fried banana dessert which came to about $75 plus tip. It was a LOT of food. I have to give these guys a shout out for offering reusable chopsticks. These are hard to work with but not as hard as a world without trees! If you need something with more grip, request a fork - judgment free. The only complaint I had was that the menu posted outside the restaurant advertises chicken katsu but they so not actually serve it. The ole fried chicken bait and switch worked on me!

I usually enjoy spider roll and other rolls, but this sushi place is decent at best. Ingredients aren't very fresh, and the spider roll is soggy and not crunchy, especially the soft shell crab meat. They also use pretty cheap soy sauce, those that you use to cook but not dip sauce in, so it overflavors the sushi and makes it very salty even if you use just a little bit on your sushi. Wasabi isn't fresh either and taste a bit strange (kind of those frozen wasabi that you can buy from supermarkets that aren't fresh and had been there for a long time). They also put too much onion on the calamari, and it wasn't crunchy either, so it has a strange taste.Overall, food is 5/10. Not great, but edible. Review rounded up due to not delaying my order.

Toku offers $1 select nigiri Happy Hour every day 4-7pm, even during the pandemic! Easy pickup and well-distanced inside tables. While I've never eaten inside, the service is always patient, kind and friendly. Phone orders are easy and they are always so nice! Definitely one of my go-to spots.

Used Uber Eats to place a lunch order. The service was fast and efficient. My miso soup was still hot which is a plus. I thoroughly enjoyed my eel nigiri (wish I ordered more than 1 piece)! The California roll was quite tasty. The tuna and cucumber rolls lacked a little bit of flavor, but the soy sauce helped. Overall an enjoyable lunchtime meal.
