The first time I came here, they were in super soft launch and they didn't even have a door. It was a hot day, and we were curious. They had lots of flavors to offer, and I was so surprised they offered Filipino flavors like pandan, ube, and macapuno. Sadly the pandan was out of stock, but because I know ube macapuno is a combo in the Philippines, I ordered it as a regular cup. WOW it tastes almost as if we got it from a shop in the Philippines. The ube ice cream here is definitely sweeter than Mimi's and paired with the coconutty macapuno sherbet, mmmm! The flavors truly complement each other. __Second time, I came here after a rough time getting my tires nearby. I decided to stop by because ice cream makes everything better, right? The lady behind the counter was super sweet and let me sample 3 flavors: I tried the mango sherbet, the espresso chip, and the horchata. On the fridge it shows all the Filipino flavors (if I'm not mistaken the owners are Filipino) and I really wanted to get pandan. It wasn't in rotation yet...bummer. However, the espresso chip and horchata were so good I got them together in a regular cup priced at $5.50!! The scoops are so generous! Wow, this combo was perfection!! Really appreciate having this gem in Crystal City! When I walked out, it was drizzling rain. Again, enough to bring my mood down, but ice cream makes everything better, right?

Who doesn't like ice cream? I was excited to see Toby's Homemade Ice Cream be one of the many businesses to open in Metropolitan Park (Amazon). It's a walk-up shop with about 20 flavors to choose from (to include sorbets). Customers have the option to add toppings to their ice cream or order a shake, malt or float. I ordered one scoop of the S'mores which was refreshing (chocolate Chip, Graham cracker and marshmallow). The prices are reasonable, the portion size is standard, the ice cream is tasty and the decor is simple. I can't wait to visit again.

Had ice cream here. Decent selection. Taste was ok but not a place I would come back to. Small place, one worker but wasn't busy at the time.

A few weeks ago my friends suggested I check out Toby's as one of their friends own and run it. As someone who organizes and works in the Philippine American community, I was ecstatic to see and hear about a Phil Am owned business opening up in my area. Currently, Toby's is soft opening with limited hours. I visited twice before only to see it closed and my excitement only growing. I finally got to try it on Saturday 8/26 with a few friends. Right off the bat, I loved the old fashioned interior adjoined by a plethora of flavors, especially Philippine flavors like ube, calamansi, macapuno, and mango. Luckily, the staff were nice enough to even sample the flavors before making our decision.I eventually made a halo halo styled triple scoop with ube, macapuno sorbet, and mango sorbet which tasted amazing. The ube was reminiscent of the classic Philippine styled ice cream like magnolia and the Macapuno and mango were refreshing as sorbets instead of ice cream. Everything complemented each other well and the pricing wasn't bad! For the portion I got, I didn't mind the $7 price tag. After paying, I even got to meet Toby and share how I was recommended here by his friends and carried on conversation with me.I will definitely be back and am excited to continually support this Philippine American owned business!

The most unfriendly staff I have ever encountered: expressionless, unable to smile or say hello. Their attitude always seems to be, 'What are you doing here, and how dare you bother me!' I've been there easily over 10 times, and it's the same every visit. Unreal. Who thought hiring staff with no personality would be good for business? The ice cream is flavors are good. A bit limited on variety.

I could not have been more pleased with the authentic ube flavor and balance of sweetness in the green tea. Even on a cold windy day, this is a place that gets all the praise it deserves from me
