Recently got to check out TNR Cafe, really excited because I haven't done traditional Chinese in a while! TNR has been consistently awarded The Best Restaurant Arlington for Chinese food these past few years, so I knew this was going to be a nice experience. Here's all that we got:Pan-Fried Dumplings Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings TNR Fried Rice Pan-Fried Crispy Noodles Roasted Duck 1/2 Salt & Pepper Tofu A lot of these dishes brought me back to my childhood, my favorites were the Pan-Fried Crispy Noodles & the Roasted Duck, such delicious Chinese classics I'd have whenever I used to go out with my family! The Fried Rice also had a really good Wok-Hei to them, super nice stir-fried flavor~ Congrats again to TNR for their Best Of Arlington Award!

Very disappointed with my takeout experience at TNR cafe tonight. I understand it was Christmas Eve (35min wait upon arrival - ordered at 7:14pm, food wasn't ready until 8:07pm), wait time was long. The orange chicken was missing from my stapled bags I was handed, didn't realize until I got home. It was clearly unchecked from the receipt.Portion size was small, over-priced.

This rating is just for their boba!I came on a weekend and picked up a lychee boba. The lychee tea on it's own was AMAZING, very authentic and fresh made with high-quality ingredients. The boba was just okay, depending on how you like it. For me, I like soft and chewy, and their boba was more hard and chewy. They gave me the boba within 7 minutes, which is great for a restaurant! Definitely would be curious to come here for the food.

I got several dishes for takeout: Pan fried dumplings, fried shrimp wontons, beef chow foon, and salt and pepper squid. The pan fried dumplings were chewy and crisp just like I like them and the filling was very flavorful. One of my favorites of the night. The shrimp wontons were crisp and full of shrimp. Would definitely get them again I just wish they were a little larger or they gave you more for the price. The beef chow foon was lacking flavor. Not much else to say about it but it was a good sized portion at least. The salt and pepper shrimp had great flavor. I don't think I'd get it again for takeout because it was soggy by the time I got home but it would probably be even better if you ate it at the restaurant. Will come back to try some more things!

I had heard good things about TNR and since moving to Arlington wanted to find a good Chinese spot! TNR had spacious indoor seating and we could see multiple orders of takeout being picked up! All food came out quickly and HOT! For appetizers, we decided to order an array of soup dumplings (Lucky 6) that came with a flavorful broth and the fried shrimp wontons were hot and crispy and served with a delicious side sauce. On to entrees, the chicken lo mein came with heaps of chicken, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The beef chow foon was another noodle dish we enjoyed, with tender beef! Lastly, the beef and broccoli was really delicious with yummy steamed broccoli and a good amount of beef! All dishes had large portions and reheated well the next day for leftovers. There was enough food for 4 big servings!

New go-to Chinese food spot for me! We ordered the Lucky Six Soup Dumplings as an appetizer, which were so colorful and cute and also a fun way to try different soup dumpling flavors! The fried shrimp wontons were also crispy and had a nice dipping sauce. The noodles were definitely my favorite part of this meal! The chicken lo mein serving was HUGE and so delicious while I also really enjoyed the beef chow foon with the thicker noodles and tender beef. The beef with broccoli was also a solid dish! Overall great meal and took home a lot of leftovers that could last another 2 meals! Service was fast even though they were busy with a bunch of takeout orders! It was also nice and cozy inside with TVs to watch football or enjoy a casual dinner with your family.

Crab Rangoon was ordered in addition to a few other dishes. Crab was not present in the crab rangoon. See photo. Only cream cheese inside. I called them thinking they probably just made a mistake and would have happily taken a refund on the dish. They said they didn't make any mistake and this is how it's supposed to be. Perhaps if they don't add crab, they should remove the "crab" from the name "crab rangoon."

I was NOT pleased with my experience in the slightest.1) Service was painful to sit through2) Food was unimpressive3) I left feeling offendedI'm aware I left 5 stars as my rating on Google and I did that just to be nice. I don't know what everyone is hyping this place up for and honestly I think I need to give this place another chance with a different server and a group of friends. This experience was shitty. I enter the restaurant and they seat me at a booth, and I'm greeted by a server who can't upsell me on literally anything.I understand that this may not be a career for many people but these people are your salesmen/saleswoman and they help determine whether or not a guest returns.I was constantly referred to as someone who probably would enjoy more "American Style" Chinese dishes like General Tso's chicken. I asked a few questions and couldn't get straight answers out of the guy. I eventually asked if the Cumin Lamb was any good and the guy said it was his FAVORITE. Bro this thing needs A LOT of work to be on the menu it's got to go.I almost never drink the water in a restaurant but this time I had to make an exception because we have to test their capabilities. I downed the whole glass and it was never refilled.I withheld both drink menus and I was never asked if I was done with it/ hey did you decide on anything? No it stayed there the whole time. Prebussing is nonexistent here. I never had anyone check in with me if the dish was good, if I was enjoying everything. How am I? Come on you guys suck what's going on!?You let me walk around the restaurant and get myself chopsticks. You had your server point out that the cast iron pot that is steaming with scalding temperatures was hot like I'm an idiot and I'll sue you if you don't tell me a disclosure.I personally eat more rice/noodles than protein in my dishes. I could have EASILY bought another 3 bowls of rice if your server came over and did a check up on me. I am not raising my hand up and saying excuse me in a quiet restaurant with two other guests at the bar. Fuck that.I've worked a decade in restaurants and the majority of my time was in Asian restaurants. I feel embarrassed for us because man if this is what some people get then the general outlook on our culture must look like shit. You're charging about $15 after taxes & tip for the Dragon Lady Cocktail... Orange Juice, Grenadine, and Curacao... Holy shit what is this menu? Can't you create something more elegant befitting the name for Dragon Lady? Come on now.Your main menu has stickers all over it to change the menu prices and I can only assume the blank stickers everywhere mean you're out of the item(s).Listen, how you do anything is how you do everything.Take pride in what you do and do it well please. I know your team is capable of so much more and two servers on the floor can easily care for one guest in the restaurant and deliver the amazing food you know the chef can be proud of. DO THAT.I'll be attaching photos of my food and receipt below. I will omit the name of the server because honestly I know 90% of Asian restaurants pool tip(s) and it's a team effort. The restaurant will know regardless but the people who check the reviews don't need to know everything.People in this area HAVE money to spend. The Commodre next to you have apartments that are 10 GRAND a MONTH for 14 month lease. Get your shit together and run my $24.15 check, ($29.15) up to $40-50 man. Literally three orders of rice, maybe an appetizer if you bothered to try and a drink could have hit that marker. I was not some asshole who came in last second and expected the world class service I LEFT at 10:07pm.

TNR Cafe was a pretty good Chinese restaurant for the area we were staying in. It's definitely for a western audience but it did serve many classic Chinese dishes. We had the Peking duck, sweet and sour pork, spicy crunchy beef and green beans. I liked all the dishes but the beef was my least favorite. The service was pretty good. Overall, it was a good meal. If you're looking for decent Chinese food in this area of Arlington/DC, this is a good option.

Super quick service for both takeout and delivery options. The dumplings are the best and crispy beef is also so good. Great go-to Chinese takeout option.
