The Upper Room Dc

Khwami was my parties server/bartender. He was very personable and made sure our party had a great time. Parking is okay on H st. The Upper Room is a small establishment. There is an Upstairs and Downstairs area. They played really Good Music and the tasty bites we had were really good. Great week day spot.

Great place to lounge and get happy hour. Shots are $6 and there are plenty of affordable drinks. They also have happy hour food. We had wings and the sliders and steak and cheese egg rolls. Everything was good. Service was good. They are pretty busy so it was a bit slow but that is understandable. Our server girl was nice and did everything she could to make sure we enjoyed the night. Music selection was good, wish more people were dancing but it was a good chill vibe.

I really wanted to like this spot. We walked in and the hostess was having hookah at one of the tables so we were left to try and figure out how seating works. They didn't come help us until we attempted to go upstairs which was closed. The hostess graciously gave us her table. We were handed happy hour menus and as we were ordering drinks we were told the price for shots is not $6 anymore it's $10. We opted for the lemon drop which was ok. We ordered wings, egg-rolls, and a quesadilla. The wings came out first. The hot honey is just ok, not really hot. The egg rolls came out next and they were pretty good. The quesadilla took forever... we assume they probably forgot it. It was poorly put together and did not come with sour cream or pico as advertised. When I went to order another drink I was told happy hour was over at 8. The menu states 9:30p. At that point we were over it. The menu also states they don't split checks and they have politely tipped themselves 20%... they did at least allow the two of us to split. The atmosphere was ok, music was cool mostly R&B... they also have hookah but if you prefer to roll up and smoke, you are welcome to do that right at your table as well. What I think was the owner walked through several times but didn't seem to customer service focused bc he never spoke. One of the employees got pizza from across the street and ate it at one of the tables... looked pretty good. Might be worth trying.

Went to this new venue last night with a friend, we enjoyed it! We just stopped through for some cocktails and hookah. However, while there someone ordered a pasta that looked and smelled amazing! So of course we had to indulge. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the dish was! The service was stellar, as we were asked numerous times if we needed anything. Everyone appeared to be working efficiently to get things done. The ambiance of the cocktail lounge was lively and people were steadily arriving as we were there. If you're looking for a cocktail lounge on H St. with good vibes, good hookah, and good food! I'd say try this place.

the upper room is the place to be! 10/10 and i definitely recommend you to go if you're reading this. I'm typically not the "lounge and bar" type of girl, but wanted to give it a try and I'm so glad i did because the ambience there was top tier. from the aesthetics to the customer service to the FOOD i was extremely impressed (and I'm not easily moved). when i arrived on grand opening night, I encountered the owner "kevin", and he was very adamant about making my experience the best one yet. my friend and i were properly searched (which i was happy about), we were ID'd and seated in a very timely manner. my waiter/bottle girl was "princess" and i absolutely lovedddd her. she was very inviting and personable and made me feel like i was her only priority. I love it there, honestly! if I don't do anything else I'll definitely be making my way back for sure! (especially for those steak and cheese egg rolls LOL)
