This is about what I expected. A country inn/southern cooking restaurant aligned with George Washington's Mount Vernon.Dishes like turkey pot pie, jambalaya, hoecake, fried green tomatoes, cornbread. Other entrees include shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, fried chicken, lamb chops, fried trout, broiled salmon, beef fricassee, crab cakes, and skillet Mac n' cheese. They also have handhelds, like the triple-decker club (which has rave reviews), grilled chicken, fried green BLT, the bacon jam burger, BBQ pork. Additionally, they have soups, salads, and the typical brunch (eggs Benedict, pancakes, omelets, etc).I had the salmon, which was pretty good, though a little rich for me. Moist, served on mashed potatoes, which were fresh and actually seasoned. I had the fried green tomatoes before that and while the breading was a fail . . . flimsy and came off easily . . . but flavors were rich and pleasing.I passed on dessert, but they offer things like flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake, and bread pudding. They also have wine, beer, and cocktails. Basic stuff . . . I had a refreshing sangria and Martha's rum punch, which was fruity, but not too sweet.Service was low-key, but effective. Vibe is homey and on point with the colonial theme.Nice spot to stop off while visiting Mount Vernon, but wouldn't make it a destination.

You can eat at Mount Vernon food court or have a delicious meal here. They have a nice variety of offerings and I was pleasantly surprised to find more than the usual fare of food. I had the Lamb Chops that are Tea - Brined. It was topped with some kind of jam which balanced well with the meatiness of the lamb. Came with mashers and Haricot green beans. They have a standard set of wine by the glass that didn't break the budget. I visited at 1pm, during the week, and didn't find it too crowded. The service was very good.

We visited Mount Vernon and stopped for lunch at the Inn Restaurant. We asked our server what the most authentic dishes were and were recommended the hoecakes (reportedly George Washington's favorite!) and peanut soup. We also got the beef fricassee entree. We really enjoyed all of our dishes. The hoecakes were a fun pancake alternative and super tasty. I also would recommend the peanut soup just because it's so unique! It was almost like eating peanut butter in soup form, but honestly really good. The beef fricassee entree was huge. So warm, nourishing, and comforting. They are very generous with the amount of beef given.Highly recommend this fun dining experience while visiting Mount Vernon.

Tried the cornbread and had extra butter added to the top and honey on the side. Even though the handle of the skillet was warm the butter was not melting which was an indication that the bread wasn't hot. Even with this I gave it a try and had to return it. I don't like cornbread with actual corn but even with that the cornbread was sooo dry it was inedible. Would never recommend to others! The crab cake dinner was ok at best. Crab cakes were burnt underneath, potatoes were very dense and corn succotash was salty. Not what I was expecting based off the high review rating. Best thing was the fries which is why I'm rating a 2 instead of 1.

We made an online reservation to eat at the Inn before the wine festival. The host staff and server were very pleasant. The menu is traditional period food, like the taverns in Williamsburg. I had the half club sandwich with soup, and I tried the peanut soup. It was tasty, but very filling. My husband ordered the onion soup and then the turkey pot pie. He was less impressed with his choice. It was a huge serving, with lots of heavy biscuit and gravy. The location and setting make this a good place for a meal when visiting Mt Vernon.

We came here on vacation from Florida to DC and checked out Washington's Mt. Vernon Estate and then had dinner here right after. It was really cool. The atmosphere was great, loved the colonial feel of this place and very quick service. We had the Jamabalya and Pot Pie and they were both delectable. Very good food and service! Cute place to go to right after the trip to the estate

Quickly seated. The restaurant is very open with old time decor. The soup I had was onion and it was like and rich. The sandwich was average. The shrimp roll was good but left you wanting more. The Brussels sprouts were so good. I would have never imagined putting those things together but it absolutely works. The prices are fair for what you get.

After our visit to George Washington's Mount Vernon, we decided to try out the food at the restaurant. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated right away. The space was nicely decorated and well-lit. The food was delicious and appropriately portioned, especially the Skillet Mac and Cheese which my kids loved! I recommend this place if you do plan to stop by George Washington's Mount Vernon and want to grab a bite to eat.

The meats were fresh. The veggies cold crisp and fresh. This was thr best triple decker club that I ever had. The potato chips were freshly made and had a fresh crispy taste. They definitely were not from some manufacturer's bag.The service was great. The Arnold Palmer was very good. This is a good place to vlibrary. Lunch while visiting the home of the first president of the USA and his presidential library.

Lord have mercy. I so enjoyed my tour of Mount Vernon and greatly appreciate everything the mount vernon ladies are doing to maintain the grounds. The shops at mount vernon are also amazing. But please do not try to eat at this restaurant. I ordered the salmon, and the dishes are fairly priced if they taste good. They do not. I am about 80% certain that they served me smoked salmon from a plastic package and doused it in a coagulated cream sauce. This is hospital cafeteria fare at Gordon Ramsey prices. The service was good and I highly recommend touring the grounds. It's amazing. Skip the restaurant.
