This review reflects my experience dining out with celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that requires me to maintain a diet free of gluten (including cross contact).SERVICE: 3.5/5 starsDRINKS: 3/5 starsFOOD: Not applicableAMBIANCE: 4/5 starsVALUE: 3/5 starsOVERALL RATING: 3/5 starsFor Valentine's Day, friends and I attended a comedy show at The Comedy Loft. Most of us arrived approximately 30 minutes before the first set began; luckily, a friend located and held seven seats together (seating is general admission) that were not too close to the stage but for which everyone had an unobstructed view. In the future, I would arrive earlier (especially if in a large group) to make sure we find sufficient space to keep our group intact. When attending a show, the Comedy Loft requires patrons to order at least two items from the bar or kitchen. I ordered one Madras cocktail, which was fairly bad (it was carbonated, for some reason). Because my drink was barely palatable, and the waitress was very busy trying to serve a large section, I sipped it slowly throughout the night's three sets. To meet the order minimum, I purchased a bottle of water to take home; unfortunately, I couldn't trust that a second drink would be prepared accurately, and nothing on the menu was safe for those with celiac disease to order. The comedian whom I saw selected by a friend; his jokes were not to my taste. Despite the disappointing performance, the venue itself was a decent place to see a show. Next time, I will vet the primary comedian and openers more thoroughly so I have a better sense of whether their performance will be funny.

Zainab Johnson's show here at the DC Comedy Loft an absolute delight from start to finish. The venue's walls are filled with photographs of comedy legends, creating an atmosphere steeped in comedic history. Spacious and welcoming, the club offers plenty of open seating that quickly becomes a hot commodity as showtime approaches. Our waiter was great at managing multiple tables while ensuring attentive service throughout the evening. The club's two-item minimum purchase (either food or drinks) might seem like a requirement, but it hardly feels like an inconvenience--especially when the food turns out to be surprisingly good. For those planning to attend, if you're opting for general admission, arrive early to secure seats with your group, as tables fill up rapidly. For future visits, we're definitely investing in advanced seating to guarantee our spot. The entire experience was a testament to the club's well-orchestrated blend of great comedy, efficient service, and an inviting atmosphere. Zainab Johnson's performance was the cherry on top of an already memorable night out.

I had the best time at the Comedy Loft this past weekend watching Kam Patterson. We took the train in and walked about 10 minutes before arriving at the bar. The show started at 7 pm (really 8 pm) and we got there a little after 6:30 pm when the doors initially opened. When we got there we had lots of options to sit at since there were only a couple of people there. The staff was very friendly with helping us navigate a spot with a nice view around the reserved tables. I believe you can pay $10 extra to get a closer seat but I think getting there early is just as good. Our server was great at remembering what we needed and also helping the many other people within the space. By the time the show started it had gotten very very crowded but he still did a great job helping everyone and not being in the way. We ordered wings, their fried chicken sandwich and Cutwater's. The wings with lemon pepper were really good for bar food. The fried chicken sandwich I would recommend passing on. The show itself was hilarious. There was a host and 3 comedians before the main act. If you ever get the chance definitely check out a Kam Patterson show. I will be back for another night of laughs at the Comedy Loft.

Went to see Isabel Hagen at the comedy loft and it was an awesome experience. The wait staff was tremendous and kept the drinks coming seamlessly. Their fried chicken sandwich was amazing! So were their garlic truffle fries. It's a great atmosphere for shows!

Tables are sticky, and it's a little um worn out decor wise, but we still had a great time and a lot of laughs during our visit. We didn't mind the two drink minimum at all, because it was Friday night. Ordered barbecued pork sandwich with fries. It was fine. Nothing amazing. And honestly didn't expect much from a comedy club's menu. Sprucing the place up a bit wouldn't hurt, and changing the lighting. But since all sorts of businesses are still recovering from COVID, I gave them a pass on the atmosphere, since the main thing you want to look at is onstage.

Standard comedy club experience. Service was good since we were there 45 minutes before our 7pm show. We were seated immediately and I liked that we were able to get started on food and drinks ahead of a majority of people so there wasn't really a wait. Most people seemed to come in about 20 minutes before the show. We ordered the onion rings which were surprisingly good. A good sharing food for 2 people. We were in the basement room and it was a pretty small intimate show (the room seemed to comfortably seat ~45 people). I enjoyed my experience and would come back!

I had such a good laugh here seeing the Felonious Munk and a few other people! I didn't like the fact that the ticket purchase recommends showing up 30 min to an hour early and you won't be guaranteed a seat if you come late but I showed up 10 minutes before and everyone was waiting downstairs in the bar area because the loft wasn't even ready to seat people. They weren't ready to seat people until about 5 minutes late. After everyone was seated there were plenty of left over seats. The place is wheel chair friendly. There is a 2 item purchase requirement and the food comes out pretty quick. I had the chicken sandwich and fries which was pretty good. The chicken sandwich becomes messy as you eat it. I got a rum punch for 9 dollars and it wasn't really strong. Might as well should have got a soda. I would come back for the comedy but they really gotta do better with opening and seating people on time.

I came in February and completely forgot to review! I've been several times without checking in and toldmyself to review this night, I forgot but hey better late then never. I was able to catch New York's funny man Vladimir Caamaño.I would say this place has some pretty good comedians frequent their venue. They do the same thing that other comedy places do, make you buy two items per person.I actually enjoyed my food. Drink was perfect, Tito's and Pineapple for me please! I didn't take any pics because by the time the food came no cameras were allowed. Ambiance is giving "cool hole in the wall." I would definitely come back, the seating is weird so get there on time or pay for the better seats. Who doesn't love a funny! Would definitely return!

I went here to see a comedian that I've been following for a while. He was the opener for another comedian, and him and the main act were scheduled for two shows on Friday night and one on Saturday night. Unfortunately, only 3 of us showed up for the earlier Friday show, so shortly after the show was scheduled to start, the individual who I believe was managing the comedy acts (I didn't get a name) came over to let us know that the 7:00pm show unfortunately had to be canceled. It was clear that he felt bad, and he gave us a couple options. He first told us we could either go to the show that was currently being held on the upper level for free, go to the later show at 9:30, or receive a refund. I opted for the later show and figured I would find a bar/restaurant to go to in the interim. But he then let me know that I could go to the upstairs comedy show in the interim in addition to also seeing the later show. While I know this may have been a frustrating situation for some, I thought they handled it as well as they could have and I really appreciated that they offered solutions. The comedy show upstairs was great, and when the comedians that I originally went to see did come on, they were great too, despite it being a small crowd! In addition to the managers customer service, I experienced excellent customer service the whole time. The bartender I had in the downstairs area was quick on drinks and offered to help carty my stuff upstairs (though I declined). He also recognized that the sour beer I had been drinking downstairs was not available upstairs, and said that if I wanted it while upstairs, I should just let them know and he would run it up for me. The bartender upstairs also had great customer service. She was super friendly, checked in frequently, and even gave me a heads up that the beer I ordered came in a cool bottle and asked if I wanted to keep the bottle vs her just pouring it in a glass like they typically would. There were other positive interactions throughout the night, and to me, good customer service is paramount. Overall, I really enjoyed the environment, the staff, and the shows I saw, and I plan to come here more often! However, there are a couple things to note. The food and drinks *are* pricey (beers are about $12-$14, food is $12-$20ish), and you must buy 2 items minimum. I saw other reviews from other platforms complain about this, and while I understand why that may be a barrier for some, this is also a fairly small venue and I imagine they make a good chunk of their money from the food and drink sales. I, thankfully, had looked up the venue beforehand and knew what to expect price-wise, but I can see that being shocking for someone who does not look beforehand. The food was also good, but nothing spectacular (though I didn't expect it to be, to be honest). I *will* say that the tickets, website, etc. all clearly state the 2-item policy. Additionally, the bathrooms (or at least the women's stalls in the basement level) *are* incredibly tiny and difficult to maneuver in. These two things were not a huge deal to me, hence why I didn't deduct stars, but they may be a big deal for others.

Visited 2/15 to see Geoffrey Asmus. Comics were great, but were fighting to win back crowd who had been tortured by Comedy Loft. Doors 6:45, show 7:45 (supposedly)... we arrived at 6:45 and were forced to stand at PACKED narrow bar, where it was impossible to not be in the way of servers going to/from kitchen. We were not allowed to go to seats until 8:15... Beers are double the price they should be...charged $5 for club soda. Comedy loft does everything they can to try to put you in a bad mood before the show starts. Didn't order any food, but we waited next to kitchen which looked unsanitary. So many better options for comedy in DC. Hopefully comics realize that comedy loft will torture their fans and stop doing shows here.
