I was in search of some things typically found in Jamaica and I found everything I was looking for here! I really needed some salt dish, yams (not sweet potatoes), and a specific brand of sardines. I was able to find all of that here and more. The island vibes were also going as they played various forms of Caribbean music on the PA system. I'm so glad I was able to find everything I needed in one location. Come check this place out if you haven't already!

I find myself not exploring the MoCo Caribbean scene as much since I grew up on PG, but that's changing. Caribbean Market is a staple in Takoma Park that has been around forever. When you enter, the first thing you see straight ahead is the restaurant where you can order... and it's surrounded by market! It's full of Caribbean drinks, fresh meats, imported products and much more. I didn't explore in full, but I found myself in an aisle of sauces and seasonings. I grabbed some scotch bonnet sauces -- some were only $1.50, like omg! Grabbed a peanut punch too. I got roti from the restaurant -- specifically, dhal puri and curry goat. They only sell the roti skin separately, and they heat it up for you upon request. It was SO GOOD. I also got an order of doubles that was great, though I was missing that subtle sweetness from the tamarind. I'm sure I could've asked for some if I went back in, but I didn't mind. If the market could use some improvements, I would say labeling of the aisles and some seating so people can eat either in there or nearby. It can be overwhelming for newbies I'm sure, especially if they're in a hurry. Thankfully, I wasn't. Apparently there used to be tables near the restaurant side, but they're gone now.

Over the weekend I had some stew beef and dhalpuri. The beef was tender and the dhalpuri was flavorful. The person working who took the order was nice and patient. The only thing that was missing was a seating area. Hopefully they can bring it back in the future.

I was in a mood to cook some family recipes and needed all the right ingredients. And the Caribbean market is always the best place to get everything. The produce is always fresh and they always have a stock of the frozen and dry food items that I am looking for. I'm unaware of any other place in the DMV that has a good stock of Caribbean staple items so highly recommend making the trek their way.

If you are from the Islands then you already know about this spot! They have all the ingredients to make that home made dish that you're used to. They sell cooked food as well, which includes "beef patties". The beef patties are good! They offer mild, spicy and chicken patties (approx. $3.30).You can also get meat and they slice/cut (butcher'd) It to your liking.

I love, love, love this place! It's been my go to market when I need Caribbean grocery staples for over 30 years. Anything you're looking for, you will more than likely find it here. They keep the store clean and organized. Small but efficiently laid out and the service is always good. Now to the hot food... I miss the days when the food was simply priced per dish. Unfortunately, it's now priced by the pound. More expensive than before but still good quality and consistently tastes good. Each time I visit ,if nothing else, I always grab a few doubles... to be honest I never order fewer than 6. They are so good! If you haven't tried them you are missing out.I don't have any pictures but will update when I take my next trip out there.

I am reiterating right here and now, this is the most legit jerk chicken in Montgomery County. The scotch bonnet peppers will make your mouth sing as they scorch you in ecstasy. The char on the chicken is perfection and the meat underneath is perfectly tender. I'm so lucky I found this place. If I thought my sphincter could handle it, I'd eat here 7 days a week but DANG it's so spicy!!!If you have high demands on your jerk chicken then look no further than The Carribean Market!

This my first visit to this shop. It was recommended by a coworker, so we decided to meet there. I was pleased to see patron's access being limited. The line seemed to go quickly as persons exited more were allowed in. Overall, I thought the store had a great variety of items including fresh produce. This was the first time, I'd seen dasheen in a store in Maryland. They also had a variety of fresh and salted meats and frozen fish. The price of some meat was higher than usual (direct impact of costs related to COVID-19). There was prompt service at the butcher counter and the area was well lit and looked clean. There are lots of grocery items stacked neatly on shelves throughout the store. I searched though the hot sauce bottles some of which were expired to find one my husband might enjoy. HINT: watch the experience dates. As I walked back to front of the front of the store with my coworker who was buying hot - prepared food, there was a display with hot sauce within date so I grabbed a bottle from there. I enjoyed the visit and plan to return.

Excellent stock of West Indian and Guyanese foodstuffs. Frozen BangaMary, Butterfish and Hassa fish(cascado in Trinidad or kwie kwie in Suriname ) as well as mauby bark and even tamarind balls .The variety of goods and efficient service to check out . Recommend the market . If parking is bad at the lower level, park on the upper level and take the stairs down to the entrance.
