Good quality meats at the butcher who are super helpful. They have a small market of fresh veggies & a good selection of beer and wine.

This place is amazing!! They have many different fresh meats and more exotic game frozen. They also have a large selection of cheeses, crackers, BBQ stuff, chips, wine, beer, etc. I love this place. In addition, the guy behind the counter knows his meat. His suggestions are worth following.

The dry aged ribeye was the best I've ever had. As expected from a dry age steak tasted more meaty than a USDA PRIME cut ribeye with a slight nutty-ness that you can't explain .You can tell they take the time to procure quality meat and products. the butchers here have a passion for what they do and truly care about what they put out . Highly recommend and will be returning

Offers locally sourced beef, chicken, and pork. Not a huge selection, but there's always ground beef, skirt, rib-eye, pork loin, whole chicken, and the like. Occasionally you'll find stock for sale- $4/pint (?) and huge prime cuts. Mooooo. Found the more elusive hanger steak here and was delighted it was only $9.99 /lb. The meat was so good that my girlfriend fell in love with me.True story.

Scott, the head butcher, regularly communicated by email with me for a week leading up to my procurement of a 9 lb bone-in, skin-on pork shoulder. He gets a half pig from Eco-Friendly Farms in Virginia every Thursday and generally starts butchering it on Fridays. He reserved my shoulder for me until I came to pick it up, waiting to cut it after showing me the different sections, telling me what they were, and what they'd be great for. Hence, I learned a lot about pork shoulder cuts from him (proving Kenji Lopez-Alt of Serious Eats wrong), and he was also right - the end of the shoulder where you get into the loin and rib meat was amazing cooked low and slow after a wet brine. In fact, it was the best part - the fat also rendered perfectly away. They carry all local, pastured, and/or organic meats. And carry sausages from Stachowski's in nearby Georgetown to boot!

There is no Butcher at this location anymore. Shelf is always empty now or barely has any of the products stocked that they use to carry. 8/05/2021They use to have a good selection until recently. I only came to this shop for the butcher shop specifically. But there is no reason for me to come to this location anymoreThe food from the kitchen is bland, below average and is $17 for a Burger ? Am I buying a Prime Ribeye steak grounded up ? Ground beef is one of the cheapest thing you could sell and they price their burgers more than a Steak and Cheese ? I guess it isn't even steak. Is it top round I'm eating or bottom round? It has to be a cheap quality that's touted as "Organic" on their menu. I highly doubt that claim. Not to mention the one guy working in the kitchen who looks P.O.'ed all the time and avoids you purposefully. Not someone I would want around my food, obviously doesn't care about the customer. Makes sense as to why the food isn't that great. The employees there don't even have a care in the world. You can tell by the cleanliness of the place and the fruits and vegetables are always old or spoiling. Must be the dirty air from the molded ceiling tiles. I wish there were positive things I could say about this establishment but there is no Passion in this business. Westover Market, more like Left-Overs Market.Overall:No more butcher shopover priced burgersbad customer service

This is not a butcher shop. It's a section in the market that has meat wrapped on butcher trays. Pretty misleading naming.

I AM DONE with this dump.Decided to visit the deli counter today for some mortadella. Was thoroughly ignored despite my polite requests for help. I then decided to walk away and see if there were any ready-pac meats and cheeses to my liking. The selection was sparse and pathetic- there were 2 blocks of cheese that had since expired in June. I walked back around to the counter and the young man was closer to the counter so I KNOW he saw me. He greeted me and I gave him my order and it looked like he was prepping it. About 2 min. later another woman came up to the counter. Guess what? She was greeted right away, even with a ma'am. She gave the boy her order and he started on her order right away while I was still waiting on mine. I asked if another person was slicing up the mortadella, and he said "I'll be on it in a second". My question is why did he start on her order even though I had ordered first? Why did he ignore me the first time I was at the counter, but when another customer arrived he was more personable and actually helped her first to where her entire deli counter experience was approx. 5 min. and mine was over twice as long, the majority of that time was spent just getting someone to acknowledge me. By the way, this is the second time I have received notable poor service. In fact, it seems every cashier other than the mother of this 'mom & pop' is a sullen jerk, including the son. I guess they employ his equally rude and unlikable brood of friends as cheap labor. But I can abide by that; they're American teenage boys and that is what I've come to expect from them. I was hesitant to post because I'm sure nothing will be done about how I was treated and ease the feeling of being slighted. This second experience is so blatant, so palpable it is just intolerable. It's clear Westover Market caters to certain people: fair hued yuppies, Starbucks moms and their perfectly nuclear families. I'm completely done with this establishment, and I hope that, on principle, others will be too.

The butcher shop is as good as it gets. Wow, top quality meat. The butcher will order any rare or unusual cuts. We recently had a dinner party and wanted to serve beef Wellington for 8, which requires a hard-to-find 4 pounds of tenderloin. We ordered it at the butcher shop, and the butcher even let us decide which pieces of the tenderloin we wanted. Best beef I've ever eaten.
