The Bakers' Lounge

I am from Scottsdale and was coming into town for my son's wedding. This was just a low key civil ceremony before the big bash. I searched Yelp extensively and settled on the bakers lounge. I called and spoke to the owner Katherine, explaining the situation. I told her that my you son and his husband have sophisticated palates and I left everything up to her. Katherine took care of everything and delivered the cake to the restaurant we were dining at. After dinner the beautiful cake appeared at our table and the grooms were really surprised. We have eaten a lot of really good cake but this cake was extraordinary. Pistachio cake with homemade raspberry and the most luscious buttercream. It was the perfect end to a lovely day. Thanks Katherine for making the day even more special

This is just horrible the little sandwich was so hard and dry I could use it as a Brillo pad and the two cupcakes chocolate hazelnut and vanilla vanilla well the frosting was a mouthful of butter NO FLAVOR and once again dry a total waste of money

I had the Vanilla Sponge Cake and the Chocolate Sponge Cake and they were both really good. You could taste the richness of the ingredients in the filling and frosting. I'm a cupcake snob so if I like these they are good. I usually like heavier moist cupcakes, but these light airy sponge cakes were a pleasant surprise. The owner was working the register when I went in and she was very friendly and her English accent was cool.I also noticed that they had savory pies and tarts which aren't my thing personally, but are definitely worth noting that they offer if anybody is reading this and likes those option.Go check this place out. I'll be back for sure since I don't live far and love baked treats!

I had made a mistake by taking so long to try this place out! Would like to give it more stars if I could.I ordered the Strawberry Champagne cupcakes for a birthday. It is hard to find Strawberry flavored cake and this place did not disappoint.The cake was not overly sweet at all, fluffy but not too light and the butter cream had the hint of champagne flavor in it. There were people who hated sweets fighting for more of these.I ordered 3 days in advance just to be sure and she had them ready and on time (actually a little early). I have not ordered from a real bakery before so I have nothing to compare the price to. However I was not disappointed spending the money after I was able to taste as well as the pleasant, prompt service. I will be frequenting this place.

I had long wanted to try this place and pick up some sausage rolls for my Australian girlfriend during their regular Saturday hours. But it was very far from Metro, extremely hard to find, inconspicuous, and windows were covered up with white paper. Even worse, they had a large bouncer at the front door redolent of stinky weed, and he wouldn't let me in unless I had some kind of personal invitation. To a bakery?! And then he blindly lets in several people after me. Jeez, talk about a perfect example of DC arrogance - will not be going back. Do yourself a favor and go to Pure Pasty Co. in McLean instead.

We ordered a gender reveal cake during the COVID-19 pandemic and Catherine was incredible. We emailed back and forth a bit, and then my husband and I ended up dropping off the envelope with the gender at 3:30 pm on the way home from the doctor. The cakes were already in the oven and she told us she'd actually be able to get us the cake in 2 hours (wasn't supposed to be until the next day). The cake was delicious (even a week later after sitting in the fridge!) and it was gorgeous (we didn't give her any parameters for the design). I would absolutely order another cake or cupcakes from here again!

Holy. Cow. This woman is SPECTACULAR! She makes the most delicious food and is so wonderfully kind! The crusts are delicious, an properly done. The sausage rolls are actually sausage and seasoned. Just WOW! Also the Bakewell tart is scrumptious!

We ordered a cake for my mother's birthday and she loved it so much she asked I order it for her sister's birthday. We are all sitting around raving and enjoying this second one tonight. We got a cranberry white chocolate layer cake. It is 10.5" and can easily feed 20 people. The buttercream frosting is out of this world and the cranberries give the cake a tart punch! YUM!We will be back!

I stumbled across this shop and tried two desserts (pineapple coconut and butterscotch) that were so delicious, I knew I had to order a birthday cake from Ms. Catherine. She is immensely talented as a baker and decorator. She made a chocolate raspberry cake that was moist, balanced, and incredibly yummy. Trust me, the Baker's Lounge is the best.

I stumbled upon The Baker's Lounge on Yelp when I was looking for someone to design a pre-made cake for my brothers birthday. I called Katherine last minute and she allowed me to bring two small cakes to The Baker's Lounge. Katherine transformed two store bought cakes into beautiful customized cakes for a 25/30 yr olds birthday. Katherine was a life saver! I appreciate her so much for what she did for my family and I. Katherine was kind and helpful and the space is a beautiful multi-purpose space available for rent. If you ever need any baking services, Katherine is the one. Thank you so much for everything!
