Service was good. That was the main highlight of eating here. The food didn't have a lot of flavor and nothing special. Restaurant had a nice design and the day we visited the bar area was busy and lively. Might be a good place for a drink but I would skip the food.

I recently visited The Avenue and tried their Maryland Crab Soup and Half Rack Ribs with Guinness Stout. The food and ambience weren't bad--both dishes were decent. However, the customer service was average at best. There was a miscommunication with the waitress when I asked for a half portion of the ribs. She brought me the full portion because she misunderstood my request. Since, the full size of the portion is half a pound, and she only heard the word "half." Additionally, I found the prices to be quite high for what was offered. Overall, it's an okay place to eat, but the service and pricing could use some improvement.

5 of us dined here pre movie since it's very convenient to the Avalon Theater. Hubby & I ate here pre pandemic & enjoyed it. Not so this time. Rockfish came out quite dry. Roasted potatoes were greasy. Would've sent it back but we were on a schedule & anyway I don't like to watch everyone else eat, then have them watch me while I eat. Server got one of the orders wrong, bringing fries instead of the salad that was ordered. So that went back for correction. Friends liked their crab cake sandwich OK, but nothing special. Seemed to have a lot of filler to me. No time for dessert. Sad to say we won't be rushing back any time soon.

"A burger with strength, you chew, the meat just absorbs all the space and all the air possible all in your throat." - Daym DropsUps to anyone who knows the YouTube video that quote from! The burger at The Avenue reminds me of the experience that that blessed man describes. The Avenue Burger is 100% satisfying and it is indeed the cheesy goodness that you seek. Don't hesitate and order this bad boy:Avenue Cheeseburger - certified angus beef, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, american cheese, avenue sauce, served on a potato bunYes, get the 8 oz patty!I am just about done with the DC Eater best burger list and The Avenue definitely deserves to be on it! I don't think it's the best burger in DC, but it definitely belongs on a "best of" list. Since I live in southern MD, it isn't too long of a trip since the restaurant is located in north DC.This burger joint is underrated and everyone needs to check it out. Thanks for great customer service and a delicious meal, especially in these trying COVID-19 times!

We visited during a quiet Sunday early evening with a party of 5. Long story short, I thought the food and service was both very lousy. The pork medalion was really tough and dry. I don't understand why but they put a scoop of sickly sweet apple sauce on top of mac and cheese. The effect was vomiting inducing. Other guests at our table got filet mignon and wine. Nobody finished their plate. Nothing tasted good. At some point my best friend spilled her wine. The server took forever to flag down in this claustrophobia inducing tiny place and it wasn't even busy. Then he failed to provide us with extra napkins or taking our plates away. We barely had any elbow room to begin with but the wine soaked napkins just sat on our table until we left.

This place is just ok. It's not awful but it's not great either. We were here for a family dinner that was a party of 10. Even with reservations, they tried to seat us at 2 separate tables. We ended up being seated upstairs in a weirdly unused room. No atmosphere, no music and super slow service. The food was average at best. Our party had the filet mignon, salmon, shrimp tacos and a salad. The salmon and the filet came with mashed potatoes that were cold. Nothing was very special and all looked generic. Our server was nice but clearly overwhelmed and it was difficult to get refills on drinks. If I were to come back, I would sit downstairs or outside on the patio and hopefully it would be a better experience.

We came at the recommendation of the children's toy store next door. (The toy store is excellent). The floor and table were dirty, the place was mostly and empty and it took 20 minutes to get menus. Most of the customers who came to eat had also come from the toy store (it was cold and raining). They were out of the first two things we tried to order and ended up with extremely small expensive portions which in one case looked like they were out of the freezer section of the local big box discounter and the bread seemed to come out of a grade school cafeteria. We won't be back.

We had a reservation for a special birthday lunch. When we arrived the sign on the door said they opened at 3pm. We obviously did not get to have our special lunch there.
