This spot is truly the place to be! The staff are so friendly, the food is truly delicious and they have happy hour till 9:30 (rare in DC!!). We first ordered from here via Grub Hub and the food was so tasty that we had to come in person. We came by on both a Wednesday and a Friday, both times we had a great experience! They have outdoor seating (citronella candles on desk) and indoor seating, both options are more than welcoming. For the prices and the ambiance, you truly can't go wrong!

We had a great experience at Talay Thai! The service was fast and friendly and everything was great tasting. I highly recommend the drunken noodles. My Thai tea also did what it needed to do.They have two options for seating. We chose to sit outside, and it was a peaceful experience. Very friendly atmosphere and perfect for good food and friends!

Delicious food (tender squid for example), ok speed (when in a hurry for theatre!), but service with a grumpy face in a super noisy environment. They have a huge patio (noise level outside is better; able to chat). Soft shell crab is great (sauce comes on the side so the crispy crab doesn't become soggy).Ginger lover seafood is also wonderful. The whole place was full at its seams on a Thursday night. Lots of guests in suits, probably the people working in nearby government offices. Tables and chairs aren't the best (may need attention) but the whole ambiance is casual so I guess in the end, thanks to relatively fast service, all is well that ends well.

I came to talay Thai for a happy hour. Overall, it was exactly what I expected. The deal was great. All the drinks are $6. I got the Siam dragon which was very strong and tasty. The service is quick and curt. If you're looking for a nice night out, this probably isn't the best option. It was very loud and filled with hill staffers. However, for a fun happy hour, it's a great vibe!

INCREDIBLE happy hour!!came here on a friday evening with a large group of friends and no reservation, and they were able to seat us immediately and even push together some tables so we could all fit.talay's happy hour is long and cheap - $6 cocktails and $5 apps. i got a siam dragon (thai iced tea with vodka), and the drink was super strong, so i didn't need more than one. the spring rolls were great, too. i was hungry halfway through my drink so i ordered the pad see ew with tofu, which was delicious, with a portion size large enough for leftovers the next day.i'm not a hill staffer, but i can see why they come here all the time after work! it was definitely worth the trek to capitol hill for me. highly recommend!

I don't understand what I'm missing. I walk by this place every day and it is always packed, and the reviews here are quite positive. But I've ordered food twice (pad Thai and pad see ew) and both times, it's just been...meh. Not bad, but not great. Kind of bland.

Although bustling at the height of happy hour post-work and crammed to the gills with idealist young Capitol interns, our service was lightning fast. The drinks were strong and the food was delicious. The servers were almost psychic in terms of their impeccable timing. If I lived in this city I would come here so often they'd take a restraining order out on me LOL

Currently I am on the search for the best Thai in DC. I got the chicken pad Thai with tofu togo and it was a solid 3.5/5. The flavor was good and the container was packed with food. But, the noodles were dry and not at all saucy (something that is crucial for a great pad Thai).

Came here after visiting the Library of Congress. The restaurant is located super close to Capitol South metro station. We arrived at almost 12 noon and we were greeted and seated really promptly. The restaurant was somewhat busy, and it got busier not long after we were seated. We ordered steamed dumplings, panang curry with chicken (came with rice) and stir fry mixed vegetables with tofu (came with rice). The food was served quite quickly. Aside from the steamed dumplings which are pretty much shumai and a tad on the dry side, we enjoyed our lunch! This is our first time trying panang curry (I think? I usually get green curry). While it's owned and run by Thai staff, I don't know if I'd say it's authentic Thai flavor but the curry and stir fry were tasty and flavorful. Reasonable prices, good portions. Prompt and courteous service. Four stars for overall experience, quality, and value.

Popular lunch spot. We came and ordered: 4*Mixed Vegetables with seafood: scallops and shrimps were tender, vegetables were fresh and the sauce was light, healthy and surprisingly good! I will definitely order it again 4*Pad Thai: very popular Thai noodle dish, the portion is big. Choice of chicken, pork or seafood.
