Tacos 5 De Mayo Restaurant

Never a disappointment. I haven't gotten anything from them that I didn't like. I recently went after not going for a while and saw they had update the inside and now have an outdoor seating area. Can't wait for it to warm up!

Another great hole in the wall place for Mexican food, the Barbacoa on the taco was phenomenal flavoring, the chicken was standard grilled no complaints but nothing amazing, the bean and cheese pupusa was phenomenal. Easy ordering via tablet menu on the wall friendly staff can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu

Tacos 5 De Mayo Restaurant is nice for a quick meet up with a friend or a quick to go lunch. The place is relatively small and giving a "hole in the wall" taco spot, but don't let the outside fool you! They have a self service ordering station and seats where you can wait for your order and eat your food. I ordered two of the carne asada tacos because I was trying to save my money (it was $4/ taco). Upon sitting down, my friend and I were given tortilla chips to eat with our choice of sauces they had out on a stand. I liked the fact that they had different choices with different levels of spice. I got the spicy salsa to eat with the chips and it was amazing! My friend and I were very pleased with the level of spice and how fresh it tasted. A few minutes later, we got our tacos and there was a plethora of meat on the tortillas which I was very happy about because coming from DC, they definitely skimp on the meat. The taste was pretty good, definitely not the best tacos I've had, but did its job. My friend got the chicken tacos, which were a bit dry, but were saved by the spicy salsa we had with the chips. Overall I would give my experience a 3.6/5, not quite a 4 because of the price and the decent taste of the tacos, but still a really good spot to quickly get lunch especially if you're craving authentic tacos.

My Sunday lunch order from Tacos 5 de Mayo was completely accidental. I was able to easily order online for pickup through their website, but mistakenly thought I was ordering from a completely different restaurant. Best mistake ever, because I have never had Birria consomé that flavorful! The restaurant is small, but I did see a back patio which I'm sure has additional seating. The best part of my experience was the salsa bar. I took three different salsas home with me to try and each one was very fresh. I really appreciated the waitress/woman at the register asking if I wanted to go containers for salsa, because it was my first time there and I likely would not have thought to ask. I can't wait to come back and enjoy my tacos on the back patio!

I went here with my mom for carryout on Friday (7/21/23) because my mom was set on tacos and this place did not disappoint. Ordering was straightforward and required use of a tablet. The food was made-to-order and we were provided cups to fill with an assortment of mild to "level hell" salsa. I had the tacos dorados and the quesadilla which were both delicious. My mom added cheese to her street tacos and she enjoyed them. The guacamole was also very delicious. Service here was excellent. We both will definitely be back here again and my mom is very happy that we were able to find a place so close to home that has good Mexican food. Highly recommend!

If you like street tacos this is the place to go. It's so hard to find good tacos in Dc so just go here if you want the authentic experience. The service was great and the ambiance was authentic. Like street taxi authentic.

Bottom line, if you want authentic tacos then Tacos 5 De Mayo is an option. On this side of PG County there are plenty authentic Mexican restaurants and Tacos 5 De Mayo is one of them. What keeps this place from receiving a 4* as a restaurant is the prices I don't believe are commensurate to the quality and portion sizes and the inside of the restaurant is somewhat unattractive. There are many Mexican restaurants in the area specializing in tacos that meet the mark in all three categories which are 1) quality, 2) price and 3) dining experience. Tacos 5 De Mayo's tacos sauces taste really good however I was hesitant to given them a try because they were all in open containers on a buffet; open for all to serve themselves. This clearly was a risk I took and certainly a sanitary risk, but it paid off because I didn't fall ill. I tried their chicken quesadilla, tacos al pastor, beef tacos and beef burrito. No complaints on the food. One thing to note is they strongly encourage ordering online even if you walk in or dine in. And parking is almost non-existent. Certainly this place will remain an option for me when I want authentic tacos. Give them a try.

Service was fast. The food was a little dry from what I remember the first and second time. We fajitas. It was supposed to be chicken fajitas with extra meat of steak but we received extra chicken. Also, you can only order take out via a web link that you get after calling their phone number. There's no option for a call to order.
