Sweet Sweet Kitchen is the fusion restaurant of your dreams that you didn't know you needed. A marriage between Jamaican and Sierra Leonian flavors, this H street fixture packs a huge flavor punch. My favorite combination is the jerk chicken plate with jollof rice and cabbage. Other strong highlights include brown stew chicken, oxtail, cassava leaves, and plaintain. The servers (shoutout RIhanna!) are very kind and will give you extra sauce and hefty portions upon request. In a busy H street with numerous options, consider Sweet Sweet Kitchen for a weekday comfort meal.

Listen baby when I want cassava leaf and Jollof rice, I go here!! The food is so good. I have literally waited for the jollof rice to finish cooking because I don't want to go anywhere else and get it. The people that work there are nice and have great service and they always give good recommendations. I go there so much they know my order. I love this place. There is also space for you to sit and wait the atmosphere is good for carry out. O yes they also give you a lot of food so it's worth the price which isn't unreasonable.

Amazing food! A little oily though. Super kind service but would definitely recommend going there earlier rather than later because they run out of things super fast. It's more of a grab and go place than a sit down but they have a little bit of seating.

I stopped here for takeout and tried their tola over rice with plantains. I've never had food from Sierra Leone before, so I was really curious to try it and had had this spot recommended to me. For me, none of the food really hit. The sauce was a little bland, the meat was a bit tough, and the plantains (though fried fresh in front of me) were kind of chalky and not sweet, like they weren't fully ripe. Overall, it wasn't bad food, but it wasn't good either, and I didn't feel compelled to finish my meal. The good news is they give you super generous portions, so one dish could easily feed you 2-3 meals, which helps justify the $20 price point. Still, I thought the flavor wasn't really there to justify the price. I won't speak to authenticity or anything like that because I'm not familiar with how tola normally tastes, but I definitely know when meat is tough or plantains are dry, so for me it was just okay. I wouldn't go back based on this experience, but they have a wide variety of dishes and for all I know the Jamaican side of the menu is a lot stronger. The other thing to flag is the prices don't match the menu - the tola was listed as 15.50 but rung up at 18.50 (plus mandatory 3% service surcharge). I brought it up at the time but they said all items on the menu ring up at the same price, which doesn't make a lot of sense, because then why would you list different prices by them on the menu?

5 stars! Save your trip to Jerk at Nite if you are looking for authentic west African and Caribbean food. This is the spot! I advise that you come earlier in the day as they often run out of dishes. The ambiance is nice and the line moves quick. They will also let you sample dishes if you'd like. The oxtail, rice and peas, and cabbage were good. I have nothing negative to say about the food. The portions are generous and you could potentially have leftovers, but it was so good I ate it all. This is a hidden gem on H!!

This is a very clean establishment. The aroma called me in from the street and I'm so glad I stopped in to try the food. They serve Jamaican and African (Sierra Leone) cuisine. I had the potatoe leave greens because I've been missing them for so long living on the west coast. It was just as I remembered it should be. They don't have pepper sauce which was disappointing and the plantain was simply ok but the main dish, the service, the cleanliness & friendliness of the establishment definite makes up for that minor inconvenience. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy egusi, cassava leaf, potato greens etc.

Although they don't honor the 5% off from the Yelp app, I did thoroughly enjoy my jollof rice and cassava! The spice level was perfect and it was filled with chicken and oxtail. The jollof rice was seasoned well. The restaurant is a pretty big and it does have an outside area as well. The food is served buffet style which at first I was on the fence about but everything was hot and fresh! The pricing was pretty reasonable as well so I will definitely be back.

It's been a while since I had curry chicken with peas and rice. The rice was freshly made and tasted amazing. The chicken was so tender and had a nice spicy flavor. Of course I had plantains too. Perfect combo. The staff is friendly. And there's a nice patio.

Sweet Sweet did not disappoint. In town for the week but always like to try out different spots. Upon entry the staff was very welcoming. Of course we came with questions and typically like to ask what is recommended. The staff didn't rush us and we actually engaged with some of the customers as well regarding options. That's great but what was the best is the sweet lady working literally lined up everything we typically eat and were interested in for us to try out the food. This was probably the worst because everything was amazing! We ended up ordering cassava leaves, brown stew chicken, and jerk chicken. Wanted some etgusi as well but knew we wouldn't get through all the food. Portion sizes were huge! Literally 3-4 people could eat off one plate. Based off what we ordered I can't determine a favorite because it was all so good. Inside is clean but small with outdoor seating. If you're in the DC area don't hesitate to come here. Literally anything off the menu is good.
