We are fortunate to have Sweet Crimes not far from our home which is east of the river. One member of our household cannot eat gluten. It is amazing to know every single item is safe to eat. These are a few of our favorites:- chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting- mini quiche- donuts (personally, I do not even like donuts and love these cake-style donuts)- chocolate babka- for holidays we have ordered the star bread -- YUM!The staff are always very nice. The online ordering system can be a tad complicated and it is always good to check your order before you leave. They get very hectic around holidays. We are grateful to have this delicious and lovely business nearby. * If you are visiting from out of town and need a gluten free / celiac safe spot for breakfast or lunch, Sweet Crimes is ideal. We typically get the sweets but they also have nice sandwiches and coffee drinks. There is a patio out back. Near the Potomac Ave metro stop and on the M6, 32, and 36 bus lines.

A gluten free pal's HIDDEN GEM!Got a sandwich here (which I always appreciate, I find them to be more rare than bakeries these days), but also of course - multiple pastries. All were 5/5+ stars - sooo delicious.I also came around the holidays, and best believe I got their sugar cookies - sooo freaking good. I remember wishing I had purchased more. Can't wait to return!

The pastries are great but most notable are the donut holes. I like the sandwiches too but you have to eat them quickly. I brought one sandwich home and it cooled down so it was not enjoyable to me. Give this place a try if you are going gluten free. You're going to love it.

Excellent, excellent entirely gluten free bakery in DC! I tried quite a few things while I was there but my favorites were probably the apple cider donuts, pumpkin cake, and apple pie. They have a wide variety of bread, rolls, etc. and pastries/pies too. The staff was friendly and had good recommendations. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

This review is purely for all the take-away goodies we've gotten - SO good! I'm gluten free, but even if I wasn't, this would be a winner. The proof?! The cider donuts were better than the ones from the apple orchard (so I'm told). The baby friendly smash cake we ordered was DELICIOUS, dairy free, and we felt good knowing what our little one was eating. The cinnamon roll was my least favorite. Did I mention the smash cake was bomb?? I wish they had more dairy free options and that the decoration on the cake was more ornate. But this is probably where I'm ordering special occasion goodies moving forward.

Great little gluten free bakery! Everyone that worked there was super nice. The bakery itself is very cozy, with a small amount of counter seating. We tried two of the sandwiches, on the biscuits, which were fantastic. I grabbed a few cookies, which were great, too. Highly recommend, if you are in the area!

I'm in this area often but didn't know of Sweet Crimes. I have a huge sweet tooth so this was right up my alley. I found a parking spot right away so I was happy about that. The service was amazing. Also, I didn't even realize it was the last hour which meant donuts were 50% off. I tried the cinnamon roll, cinnamon sugar donut, and a cookie. My favorite was the donut. The cinnamon roll was good but it had an aftertaste that I wasn't familiar with. I had a good experience. It's a bit small on the inside but it has a welcoming atmosphere. They also offer so much more that traditional desserts. I could honestly see myself going back in the near future.

Honestly was hoping for better gluten free cinnamon rolls -- was a little disappointed. Staff was friendly but that can't make up for mediocre pastries :( I stopped in here on a whim because I needed a sweet treat and it didn't really satisfy my cravings unfortunately. All I can say is that you can definitely tell it was gluten free.. Had a bit of an aftertaste + was super doughy.

I came in during an early work morning to try out this place. Got a couple of donuts for my friends, who told me they felt the donut tasted good, nothing that would implicate they were gf in their flavoring. For myself, I got a flat white and the carrot cake. The flat white was so good!!! Slightly sweet, using oat milk. The carrot cake, however.... Was just ok. It was good enough to eat, but not delicious enough to go back again for the cake itself. And I'm gf. So the cake itself was really dense, and the cream cheese on top was lovely. To balance out how thick the cake tasted, it may have been better to add more of the icing on top... the cake was so thick and dense that it tasted more like a sweet bread than a cake.
