Definitely my favorite omakase to date, and it was my first true omakase with the chef right in front of you. Jango and the sake somelier were both wonderful, in explaining each fish/dish, the flavor, ingredient, region - anything and everything to help you understand and appreciate the cuisine. While pricey, I think it's perfectly priced for the experience you receive. Highly recommend.

Great spot for lunch and the interior has a welcoming vibe that you can sit there and chat with colleagues or friends. Good, fresh sushi and I recently tried their gyudon and liked it. Fast service too!

This is a great little sushi spot. The food is delicious and there's a great selection of traditional and specialty rolls. I haven't tried any of the entrees yet but I'm sure they wont dissappoint. The customer service is great.

This is now our go to spot in the city. I've been trying to gatekeep it a little bit, but it is on a main road in Dupont Circle! The fish is always fresh, much of it shipped in from Japan and other seafood hotspots. I appreciate that the Uni is always high-quality, this is the place to go if you want to introduce someone to quality urchin with no stink. The best part is the omakase events that they run - an unbelievable selection and preparation of fish, plus my new favorite dessert - their coffee panna cotta. Some favorites include their akamutsu; Korean golden flounder and kombucha with its own liver; hotaru ika (firefly squid!); arrowhead squid with lime zest was maybe the best prepared squid nigiri ever; and the uni ikura bowl. If you're into quality fish and haven't found your way over here for an omakase you are really missing out.

Stumbled upon this place and it is amazing! What a gem. It is top notch, creative sushi, excellent ingredients, made by an artist for a chef. Great price too for what you get. Definitely recommend this place. Can't wait to go back.

Sushi Snob is a lunch time/early dinner Japanese food restaurant in downtown Washington. Restaurant is small with indoor seating and clean. Service was efficient and very friendly. Atmosphere is not of a traditional Japanese restaurant. More like a lunch time sandwich shop that is part of a modern office building. My family had the gyudon (beef rice bowl), chicken donburi (rice bowl), beef udon, tofu bibimbap, California roll, and salmon sushi. All were very tasty. A perfect place to go if you are working nearby and need to find good quality food during a quick lunch break. I highly recommend.

It's fine for what it is - a lunch time food place - but quality is inconsistent and the menu offerings never change. I come here from time to time for sushi. Their sushi for me has ranged from very good to mediocre, and I'm talking about comparing between the same fish. It's unfortunate they have these consistency issues. The other issue is menu variety. Even their special has basically been the same. You can get tofu and rice, or curried vegetables and rice. (They ought to just combine the two.) This place is fine if you're downtown and want some sushi that isn't prepackaged, but feels like it's a little too much on autopilot.

(This review is for the evening omakase.) Holy crap. OK, you're looking at this and seeing 3.# as the rating and thinking, "Gah, why try that?' But understand: These reviews go back at least 10 years, and the crew now running the place have been there since only September 2024. And then sort the reviews by date and see what you see. This is a top-tier sushi restaurant lurking in the wreckage of whatever janky place had been there. Chef Jango, Brian, and Hanari do a wonderful job of connecting with customers while they deliver exquisite sushi and sake pairings. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
