We arrived for Soul Wednesdays and the DJ was fantastic. The mixes were done right and the song choices were a great combination of new and throwback songs. The talented saxophonist kept the vibe lively and was a fun addition to the crowd. At the time of my arrival there was security at the door that required a copy of the reservation and ID.Hamza was our server - very attentive. The servers do a lot of multitasking and seem to have a good flow even for a busy evening. Be careful with what you see on their website - my friend was excited for their half priced bottle wines (we were there for a girls night) and they did not honor what was on the site. There are also a few items listed that they no longer serve. When you come, plan to have backup options. Food - The edemame could use a bit more salt. The seaweed salad was tasty. My friend had the miso soup and she said it was good but it didn't stand out. The shrimp gyoza would've been enjoyed more if they were pan-seared longer. We had various rolls. The Mate was delicious, my favorite from what I tried. The Churrasco had so much potato fries inside, we all agreed that it was too much carb but the ribeye was cooked well and had a nice flavor. The orders of nigiri were tasty. Overall a decent spot, the entertainment was on point. I would come back. Hookah is offered - $76 after tax. Parking is the usual for that area - you either luck up with street parking or find a garage and walk a block.

Never coming back. My friends and I came on a Wednesday, reservation was for 8pm and we didn't get seated until 8:45pm. It took 20 minutes for a server to great us. At this point we ordered our drinks and food, the food took an additional 40 minutes to come out ( mind you we haven't even gotten our drinks yet). While we waiting for our food our server kept assuring us that our drinks would be out in a few minutes then she said another 5 minute. Our drinks did not come out until 9:50pm. By 10:15pm we were over it. My friend asked a server for our tab, 20 minute passed and nothing. We asked our server for the tab another 20 minutes went by. Finally we asked a friend who is cool with the staff to get someone for us and it was at this point that someone finally gave as. All we wanted to do was leave this establishment and we felt trapped. Iv been serving for 5+ years, you would think that management would step in and compensate us for our time but NOPE. Never coming back. Unprofessional. Side note: I understand Wednesday are busy nights, therefore you should staff correctly.

I visited this spot during their daily happy hour (4-7 PM), which offers half-priced cocktails--a definite draw. However, the quality of the drinks was inconsistent and largely depended on which bartender was making them. While one bartender at the bar was attentive and crafted great cocktails, overall, the drinks were just okay. That said, for the happy hour price, the value was reasonable.Unfortunately, service left much to be desired, especially from the table staff. Sitting at the bar was a better experience, thanks to the aforementioned bartender, but table service felt inattentive. The ambiance was where things really went downhill. A live DJ was set up right next to our table, making it feel more like a nightclub than a restaurant. If you're coming here to enjoy a lively, high-energy vibe, that might be a plus, but if you're looking for a relaxed dinner with friends, it's a struggle. The music was overwhelmingly loud--so much so that my Apple Watch even sent a hearing damage warning. Conversation was nearly impossible. As for the food, it was decent but not exceptional. The sushi was good, and the rolls were slightly above average, but nothing particularly stood out.I did appreciate the art deco style of the place. It's like the great gasby dines here. (Hence the hefty prices) When factoring in the price vs. overall experience, my satisfaction level took a hit. Great for a casual, high-energy night out, where you get cocktails and apps at the bar. But there are a lot of other great sushi places with more value for your money.

FOOD IS GOOD, SERVICE IS IMPROVING.I've been here twice and had concerns about the service. However, the manager really turned things around. He was incredibly polite, apologetic, and receptive to feedback. He handled our concerns with care and made us feel heard. The food remains great, and with leadership like his, I'm optimistic the service will improve.

I went here on valentines day with my boyfriend, we made a reservation but i wouldn't say it's necessary. Walk ins were able to be seated. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holiday, the dj was a fun touch, and they have hookah. The fusion menu was interesting, some hits and misses. A hit for me was the calamari and lychee martinis. A miss was the ceviche. Overall, we had a nice time.

Its really hard to rate Susheria and hover between 3 stars and 4 stars. Went with 4 stars due to excellent service and a great ambience.Came on a Thursday night for dinner and was surprised to find an empty restaurant (not usually a good sign). We were super late to our reservation but we're seated immediately as it wasn't busy. Our server came over immediately and walked us through some favorites on the menu and took our drink order. Our server was SO nice. She was bubbly, warm, and smiley all night and really helped us make food and drink decisions.I had la morada to drink which is a pisco sour with chicha, it was fabulous! To eat, me and my date shared seaweed salad and lemongrass chicken, both good. For our mains we each had a sushi roll. Both were good but nothing to write home about. Had the matcha mochi for dinner which was a bit of a let down, not much taste. While the food itself was pretty tasty, the prices didn't at all match the quality of what was served. It was super expensive and the portions were on the smaller end. Each sushi roll was $20-$25 and there is just sooooo much better sushi in the city for cheaper. I actually thought the food overall was pretty good but the value isn't there. The ambience was wonderful. They play a mix of house music and Latin music that is loud enough to create a good vibe but not so loud you can't talk. I could hear my date perfectly without needing to yell. The restaurant was mostly empty with only 3 other tables so I can imagine it might easily be too loud with the music and a full restaurant.Left early because they closed for a private event. Overall Susheria is good with awesome drinks, decent food, and super friendly helpful staff. The prices are more than its worth so if you come for dinner, come for the vibes, not for a proper sit down dinner or stick to happy hour (only at the bar).

I've been meaning to try this place for a while, as I often go to the AMC theater right next door. First, the decor in this place is really swanky. I love the old but new style furniture. The bar was full since i visited during happy hour, but I was able to get a seat in the bar area. Typically, they wouldn't honor the happy hour deal, but the bartender made an exception and waited on me anyway, which I thought was really cool. Overall, the service was 100 all around. The drinks were crafted really well, which I ordered a few of them. I didn't care too much for the gyoza/dumpling as they were fried and not pan seared as I prefer them. The sushi was excellent, as I ordered a couple orders. This place was cool, I'll be back because it was some of the best sushi I've had in DC. If they expanded the menu a bit and add in some of the Japanese staples like ramen, then they will be in to something.

Amazing sushi and appetizers in a buzzy and trendy location. Service was fast and helpful and we enjoyed our experience end to end! This will stay on our date night spot rotation.

Food is mid and overpriced and the service sucks. I sat at the bar and he was so unorganized and lacking a sense of urgency ruining several dates that night.
